  1. If I was starting fresh, I would order two DDM kits for 80 bucks. It would be really easy to replace a bad bulb or ballast with your spares and then have DDM warranty the bad part. In my case, it was not fun putting the halogens back in and having to drive around the last month without Hids waiting for a new DDM kit. I had a ballast go bad after about 18 months. Been really happy with the output of the 9006 35/5000 kit.
  2. If you're gonna go with DDM, I would order two sets so you have backup parts. I lost a ballast after about 18 months and it would have been nice to have an extra one on hand. Would have taken me about 5 minutes to switch out a ballast but, since I didn't have an extra, I ended up putting the halogens back in and waiting for the slow-boat. Both Morimoto and DDM are cheap Chinese kits and you will read about lots of failed ballasts with both brands. TRS is well known for awesome customer service but you're gonna pay for it. I'm really happy with the performance of the DDMs but, for $40.00 per kit, I should have ordered two from the start.
  3. I went from a 2010 to a 2011 Edge and it seems like a totally different vehicle. The build quality is much more solid on the 2011+. I also drive a 2013 MKX. All of them have been trouble free so far and I just turned 40,000 on the 11 Edge. I really like the softer ride of the MKX compared to the Edge.
  4. This can happen on any size wheel if ya get in the right kind of snow and ice.
  5. I have driven Fords for the last 30 years and have had no major problems with any of them. Even put over 150,000 on a couple. Maybe I'm just lucky!!!!! I would say that my 2011 Edge and a 2003 F150 were the most solid Ford vehicles I've owned. My 2010 Edge was just OK but the 2011's and up are really good vehicles.
  6. Your right, not permanently but it would be nice to have quicker control of the system like I did in my 2010 with a dash mounted button. I've gotten in the habit of leaving the traction control on/off screen up on the left display for quicker access. To bad the system can't sense when ya need that wheel spin to keep from getting stuck in snow. Forgetting to turn it off has gotten me about 4 times this season!!!!!
  7. Good question. I've been able to dig myself out a few times while bow hunting this season. Gonna crawl under and take a look when I get a chance cuz attaching some tow hooks is a great idea. I wish I could disable the traction control permanently but it always comes back on.
  8. My brand new MKX sounds fine driving in the city but everyone complains that they can't understand what the heck I'm saying when I'm on the highway. I've gotten in the habit of hardwiring my DROID to the auxiliary jack when driving on the highway. Most cell phone microphones are far superior to Fords junk. Kinda defeats the purpose of sync when ya gotta hardwire!
  9. 2011 awd sel with 30,000 miles. Dealer did 4 wheel alignment and there are two brand new tires on rear. Vehicle was purchased used with 21,000 miles and two tires were pretty worn. Rides just fine with no vibrations but there is a constant thumping that sounds like it's coming from the right rear. Any ideas??
  10. I touch up the undercoating, rainx all the glass and put a few coats of Zaino on. The Z easily makes it through a Michigan winter.
  11. Just had a 35 DDM ballast die after about 1 1/2 years of service. I had thought about ordering two kits so I would have spare parts back when I placed my order. Wish I would have!!!!!! Just put the halogens back in today to get me by until I decide what to do.
  12. Just got a 13 MKX. No tray and no plastic tabs to mount the coin holder. Kinda strange they give you the coin holder with no where to mount it!!!!!! The MKX's console is completely lined with felt and the tabs are missing.
  13. I agree, Edges are super easy. I just take the front drivers side up a little with a floor jack to make it easier to slide under the front. Never trusted the dealership or any of the quick change places to do a simple oil change. Thanks to a fellow member, I got in on that $5.00 five qt jug deal and have enough Motorcraft 5w20 to last me to 150,000 miles.
  14. I just hit 40,000 on my 2011 SEL and the factory Latitudes look like they will easily make it to 65000. I put 72000 on a set of Bridgestone Revos on a 2003 F150 and still had decent tread on them!!! A lot depends on how you drive and if it's highway or city driving. Tires will last a loooooong time if you spend most of your time on the freeway.
  15. Pretty cool for those with SE's looking for some lowcost light bars. Have you compared the brightness and color to some stock bars yet?
  16. Just got 28.6 mpg on a 485 mile trip to upper Michigan. 2011 SEL fwd. Didn't take a pic so maybe it never happened!!!!
  17. As far as clay bars go, I prefer the Mother's yellow ones over the Meguiars white ones.
  18. I went from a 2003 F150 to a 2011 Edge. Both awesome vehicles but I really hated the MPGs I got with the big truck(5.4 liter). The 150 was much better for all my hunting and fishing adventures but the Edge is doing OK so far. I've never been to crazy about the body style of the 2004+ F150's but the Raptor is one of the coolest looking factory Pickup's I've ever seen.
  19. I've always used 303 or Meguires Natural Shine. Both give a nice matte finish but, depending on the weather, don't last very long. NS is really inexpensive so I don't mind using the heck out of it.
  20. The Infinitys have a little better sensitivity, better frequency response and you can pivot the tweets for better imaging. They should sound better then the Polks. I do wonder how the factory amp will handle their 2 ohm impedance.
  21. It's rust. I would use a wire wheel on it, coat it with a product like POR15 and spray some 3M rustproofing inside the lower door panel. It's really hard to stop rust after it starts but it won't hurt to try.
  22. I had the same thing happen twice. Once a rock or something put a big dent in a rear floorpan and another time a chunck of metal put a big hole in the gas tank of a Taurus. I actually got off the highway with the Taurus and made it to an Autozone. Picked up some of that putty, reached under and filled a marble sized hole. After filling their parking lot with gas, I drove another 200 miles to get home. Ended up having to order a new tank.
  23. "Or is everyone still using the 9006 kits and trimming the tab?" 9006 bulbs do not require any tab trimming. At least the DDM's don't.
  24. A good paintless ding guy should be able to get at it. $40.00 to $60.00 should cover it.
