  1. I went from a 2003 F150 to a 2011 Edge. Both awesome vehicles but I really hated the MPGs I got with the big truck(5.4 liter). The 150 was much better for all my hunting and fishing adventures but the Edge is doing OK so far. I've never been to crazy about the body style of the 2004+ F150's but the Raptor is one of the coolest looking factory Pickup's I've ever seen.
  2. I've always used 303 or Meguires Natural Shine. Both give a nice matte finish but, depending on the weather, don't last very long. NS is really inexpensive so I don't mind using the heck out of it.
  3. The Infinitys have a little better sensitivity, better frequency response and you can pivot the tweets for better imaging. They should sound better then the Polks. I do wonder how the factory amp will handle their 2 ohm impedance.
  4. It's rust. I would use a wire wheel on it, coat it with a product like POR15 and spray some 3M rustproofing inside the lower door panel. It's really hard to stop rust after it starts but it won't hurt to try.
  5. I had the same thing happen twice. Once a rock or something put a big dent in a rear floorpan and another time a chunck of metal put a big hole in the gas tank of a Taurus. I actually got off the highway with the Taurus and made it to an Autozone. Picked up some of that putty, reached under and filled a marble sized hole. After filling their parking lot with gas, I drove another 200 miles to get home. Ended up having to order a new tank.
  6. "Or is everyone still using the 9006 kits and trimming the tab?" 9006 bulbs do not require any tab trimming. At least the DDM's don't.
  7. A good paintless ding guy should be able to get at it. $40.00 to $60.00 should cover it.
  8. I posted this before but I think it's worth reposting. For those having problems getting the DDM bulbs in, ya might want to try putting a VERY thin coat of dielectric grease on the O-ring. Just make sure you don't get any on the bulb itself.
  9. I don't think it's a good idea to try E-bay bulbs but ya might get lucky. The cheap Chinese bulbs from Morimoto or DDM are probably a little more consistent when it comes to color, brightness and bulb life.
  10. Looks great! Did ya think about going with white vinyl?
  11. Awesome write up!!! I've pretty much done the same thing for many years but have always applied Zaino and Duragloss by hand. I just picked up the Griots GG6 last week but have not had a chance to use it yet. For those thinking about picking up a DA, Advance Auto now carries the GG6 on their website so you can use AA codes to order it online. I used a $50.00 off $125.00 code and got it for $95.00 shipped to my doorstep!!!! Regular price at AA Online is $140.00 before tax.
  12. The one I replaced had been knocked out from an impact so I didn't remove it myself. I would guess you could reach around behind it and find a way to push the plastic tabs in a little while pulling from the front.
  13. They are just press fit with plastic tabs. New ones are $20.00 each with free shipping on Ebay (egreenautoparts). I just installed one the other day and the quality seems pretty good. Another option would be to pull your old ones and paint them black or match the body color.
  14. 303 Fabric guard is awesome stuff. Don't even waste your time with anything else.
  15. I've never really been convinced that any of these sudden acceleration stories are true. It does seem possible with electronics controlling the throttle but I would guess that most cases are driver error and floor mats. I had the floor mat thing happen to me many moons ago in an old 77 T-bird with the throttle wide open. I just cut the engine with the key and coasted to a stop.
  16. You can probably find some nice stock ones on E-bay or at the local boneyard. Someone has a cool looking set of aftermarket projector housings for sale in the classified section on here.
  17. Funny, first thing I thought of was Weathertechs, HIDs and LED bulbs when I read the title.
  18. Cruiser, If you are interested in swapping for the strips I have a buddy that would be up for it. I didn't take any pics but it's very easy to do. You will just need to fill in four small holes with body caulk, bolt on four plastic brackets in the same holes the side rails used and snap on the black strips. Ford used body caulk to cover the holes on vehicles that did not come with a rack. Each plastic bracket is held on with 1 screw. You won't get any leaks if ya fill the four empty screw holes.

    Roof Rails

I just did this with some good info from Gimp. It's really easy!!!! Once you pull the black strips you will see exactly how the rails go on. Remove 4 of the 6 plastic brackets, expose four screw holes that are filled in with body caulk, install new strips and bolt the new rails on. Just so ya know, you could use your current black strips if ya just drill or cut 4 holes in them for the 4 extra screws you will be installing. All you really need are the roof rails and 4 screws. One little tip: It's easiest to start removing the strips from the front.
  20. R, unless you are going to increase the wire diameter of your current DDM harness, I would just run your 35w Hids without it. Don't want to see any meltdowns!!!!
  21. The Huskys look good but I'm not to crazy about them sticking out toward the tire on top. The cheap flat ones seem to blend in better and do the same job. I tried two different flat pairs and the Highlands look the best in my opinion. I think they are around $7.00 a pair.
  22. Yikes!!! Not sure what could of happened but the 1st thing I would do is make sure the drivers side socket and 9012 halogen bulb have a clean and solid connection. If that does not help, check all the wiring to make sure you didn't cut anything. Is everything dry at this point?
  23. I know some others have had this same problem on here. Was it pretty easy to see and get to once you had the panel off? Did you have to pull the latch assembly out?
  24. It's the door ajar switch getting stuck. Unfortunatley, it's part of the door latch assembly which is located inside the door panel. I know when I had this problem with a 2004 Taurus many owners had decent luck spraying lubricant through the door latch from the outside. It worked for me a few times but would always come back. Ford has had this problem with many of it's vehicles for a long time but does not seem very interested in fixing it or recalling. I kinda miss the old pin-switch days!!!!!!
  25. I would say ya gotta spend some time behind the wheel in both. The cool thing about the Edge is that Ford is an American Company!!!!
