"Market research, owner feedback, common sense." It is NOT common sense to remove direct input of GPS coordinates from a nav unit. That is core fiunctionality. You crushed my passion for it a few days ago & now another owner sees merit & you use commons sense as a reply. It was on page 2 & just sitting there not noticed to many so common sense dictacts that it didn't interfer with most and the few that wanted it more robust- got it removed rather that improved. Per the Ford phone call I received on 12/3/12- GPS direct input was removed NOT due to any real issue. It worked. It was removed as part of the overall presentation to make the MFT/MLT system appear simpler to use to win back public confidence in the system as a whole. So a feature already on page 2 was removed to make the system look pretty. It was removed because a simple novice/advanced button- not present in Nav- but IS present in the voice system was not added. Would that have been TOO MUCH TO ASK? I guess so. Really? Most things in life default to simple mode but give you an advanced mode with more stuff. Ford keeps taking away more stuff in-order to change the Public perception of the MFT that so many people complain about. How about more novice & advanced features Please. Like the heated seat to come on prior to 32 degrees. As above the Nav- advanced mode. The Song & Artist. You gave us Voice novice/advanced. With some pulling of teeth you gave us Temp & Time as a selection. You took away the daylight savings selection- we will see in 6 mths if it works...

"How many people input latitude and longitude manually? " OK I'm away from forum for awhile & I return & same Snarky repy- from a moderator no less. Who does- I do!!! SO there. I used the built in POI- it provided a wrong destination. I used sync services- wrong. I used live operator- wrong. I went to the companies web site that says- if you want the exact location with correct entrance road= Please iqnore google maps. mapquest & enter these GPS coordinates. So there. That is when I will use feature. I also have used when I go to different camp grounds or state/Fed parks & want to get a specific off the beaten path. The campground web site official address is usualy a main office or copr office down road no where near the street intersect or there is no physicall street address. And the point was a feature- even is not the most popular- is suddely removed with out notice!!!! Next point the CHEAP navs have it built in but expense car nav removes. Next point- it was not in, then was added on a release & now removed. Not a way for any professional business to run. And the other point- since Ford offers no back up solution - my nav favs that were stored by a specific GPS at a remote rural location- can not now not be used. They can not even extract before it is deleted. You can say where am I & it can show the GPS but you can not get the GPS out of the stored location.

Dealer emailed me back & stated: have contacted the Sync technology team ( 877.945.3648) in regards to your questions. In the new format the daylight saving feature is automatic and cannot be selected. In regards to the GPS manual input this functions has also been deleted. If you have any questions in regards to inputting GPS locations you can contact the Sync Team directly at 877.945.3648. OK why on an expensive car nav was this removed- just to make a 1 page presentation & not 2 pages? Why is Ford so Calas asd to include- remove include & now remove over the releases from 1.8 through 3.5.1?

I had the 3.5.1 Installed. In the navigation section-I can not locate the Direct input of the GPS latitude/Longitude as in prior versions- that was on page 2- there is no page 2 like before. In the clock section I do not see a daylight savings time "on/off" selection but there is a reset to GPS time. Breadcrumbs are no longer restricted to .5 mile but 10 miles & it continued what is the limit? fan speed indicator back sorta of when you change the fan speed an icon will POP up where it says climate at the bottom right quadrant- show the change & then disappear. There is now a 3 led light option in the music blue tooth connect icon under the usb- I guess for multible blue tootconnections of audio? POI categories drilldowns are simpler view with 1 expansion & not the several deep. The view feature in nav was moved to left from the top right. There is a new menu button in top right nav that opens a drop box for nav menue organization

So what is the deal on 3.5.1 or TSB 12-11-1 Some have posted some dealers have the next version...what is new?

My download from SMR yesterday was 17.5MB 1 cab & 1 zip extracted to ~44.7... An then told to wait & not install...so we will see....

Correct- You shouldn't have to BUT your most certainly MUST in some cases!! Readers- review the several posts at the sync my ride forum that mention that need. The 800 cust sup STILL says pull fuse as there solution to issues. THAT is what you should not HAVE to do! AND yes- MY reboot app- the one I received for an IT tech- still DOES work. That is the shame that some reboot apps did get out there before the apparent stop that practice & others do not have the ease I do to just plug in- wait 3 seconds & remove. There should be a true reboot in the sub menu not a fuse pull on Luxury Linc.

temp on home screen; artist & song title in the entertainment zone bottom left dock; useful mp3 counter that has ability to count backwards to zero & a progress bar for mp3s - just like the replay in Sirius -bring it back & should be in home screen quadrant; put fan speed display back in bottom right dock-big empty space wasted between the driver & passenger temp in that lower right dock, destination or favorite destination launch button in NAV top right quad, larger album photos on entertainment zone, radio rds not always displaying in entertainment zone-below that divide line- fix it, ability to import the phone contacts( when phonebook won't download) just like you do with email programs contacts - apparently the sync my phone app for MFT hit a snag in development & needs platform change.add the phone contacts picture like we do for wallpaper,

Did your phonebook error issue ever resolve? I have same issue . They are now being analyzed. LG phone.

In addition to your comment- Have to wonder if it was a little more of a "corporate power control thing" since the reboot on command feature wasn't built in & the true reboot app to do it on command was not made public to all. There has been no mention of a reboot -"on command” that was added to the new performance upgrade. As stated before- I am an owner that requested & received the true reboot app-although told it was locked to my VIN. I requested it be made available to all- obviously that never happened. I asked if Sirius patch was safe to use again just for the delayed reboot -I was told by IT tech it would not harm. SO if owners use a hack vs. corporate officially providing- a corporate PR decision is accomplished.

Scorpio...Slow down...My extracted quote was not from your post- you jumped the gun.. CaptKirk & Limited were the extracted quotes. AND it was not to "get" anyone angry-or scare a new guy. It mearly point out relevant facts!!! - ie A low mileage driver & a new guy about 1 mth -that do not have strong bad experiences but stated that they do not use the system to its limits- & may inturn not see the possible crash & burn issues over time or under heavy usage of system resources as many others have- I guess you and others excluded. And hopefully they will never see it cause they can put on the upgrade when available. I bought my fullly loaded luxury Lincoln back in 2010 when they came out & have seen over time the performance, inexperienced dealerships, miscommunications, etc . I'll leave the mods replys alone- not my pissing contest.

Ford tried to fix- Base software attempts to fix in 1st year 1.8, 2.3, 2.4, 2.7, 2.8, 2.11- failed to fully fix & is now in process of a full re-release of a new compete rewrite & Large press campain to do it & will release this back in time to the 2011's & 2012's. That is not done for only "a few". I am sorry, but those words stretch the meaning. And to think you are a mod. that made the "few" commentt. Rrrr--- We do undertand what I guess your are trying to say- not ALL owners have issues & the ones that do have issues Scream pretty loud & possible skew the perception of full picture.- Do not get too swayed by the LOUD screamers if your car works fine.That would be fair. right? But the ones in this thread that say it works fine do admit to not being the primary driver, low milage, not really using all the features to the fullest, not having all the features on the car, etc So lets take that into full consideration. Everyone wants a car to work properly. If you bought a 2011 back in 9/10 & were one that has issues- boy it is a long wait to resolve & now you see the other cars playing catch up & possible passing ford- IE "Cue" for cadi, So- if car works fine- great. If car has issues- we are still waiting & waiting.

Been away from forum awhile- see all the chatter here & on the smr forum- the release of the new MFT upgrade? I see talk of few weeks, 1st qtr, Spring, not till 2013 taurus release, I see postcards- wow head spins... Any new reliable news on the best estimate of when?

The diag. screen (set to am/fm, then press cd eject( no cd installed) and pressing and holding the right wheel button or right seek buttons TOGETHER for about 5-10 seconds. ) ......shows many other mic options even a mic 2. but they are all not utilized. I too have heard others state to me that the speakerphone quality is NOT up to snuff. Not sure if this a hot fix in the new upcoming release- cs reps tend to state many things. Time will tell.

I too would like more clarity on the Nav, map data, & Gracenotes. Is it just "enhanced"map data or a true enhancement PLUS a 2012 map data update showing new streets & new POI ( Like newly added starbucks, restaurantes, etc) Also- I gues no mention of an enhanced experience with a combo of gracenotes & the mp3 metadata? Meaning we currently have to choose- 3D art work & the limited gracenote databace or no 3D art but full mp3 meta data support. No mention of heated seat as a voice command. but we have 10,000 to change the temp from 71 to 72....etc

Hey- you guys were curious- I found a way! I CAN'T BELEIVE FORD WILL NOT MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO ALL!!! Some depts want to but they always get out trumped! I can't beleive my phone will not stay connected but my $30 blue tooth ear piece does- but I do NOT blame phone!!!! Sales guy has had 1 year to study up on MFT & frankly should of been embarrased on his lack of knowlege of the system. As stated- my expectation was 1.- it would work or 2 it would not. I did not expect 3 that it would mess up the car. Why would they release it to avg consumer if it could do damage? Right? I agree the tatic was not the nicest- but this case -asking can I try- would be a little far fetched- right? Worst that would happen? Need to pull the fuse ? Come on!!!! The action stinks put pulling the fuse is almost laughable. So I got lucky & I got the app. I tried to help others but it is not my ROADBLOCK! Push on FORD! I look back 1 yr & $48K less & think if I had gone Lexus 350, cadillac srx, bmw 5, audi q7, would I be typing here about fuse pulls or the backdoor way to get a simple- Did you reboot? As stated before - guess can hope in the future rewrite 1 year 6mths+ after MFT release & -get happy.

OK. Here is the deal. Today at work I had our IT guy help me at lunch with the command prompt & sting.exec. He did not see any 10 digit or more # that looked like the vin. Sounded promising. Tonight in my driveway I tried reboot app after I deleted the vin from the bubble & it worked on my car. Cool. So I got bolder & I went to a Ford dealer tonight-gave the speach guy at work has car, can I sit in car & play with the touch. I figure slow night with the baseball playoffs on. I plug in a reg usb & my music loads & plays. I load the usb w/ reboot app in the 2nd slot , screen changes to the install app screen ( try talking to distract sales guy since it did chage screens to install apps vs the music) & a rather long message pops up about not matching or wrong code or something. I pluff my my way through that I must have pluged in wrong usb. I unplug both. play w/radio & the get salemen talking again - ie distracted. I try again with just the reboot app in the other slot by itself. Same thing- it does change from the music screen to the sync install app screen & then same message pops up about not matching or missing - I could not very well take a screen capture or study long before the sales guy would realize that I was trying to install something on HIS car. I was hoping it WOULD reboot & then I could fluff around that I heard these things happen & I would apoligize for pluging in both drives at once & that it must of been silly me that foreced it to reboot. Ha prove that it works w/out them even knowing it was an app & not the car. But alas- that was not the case. Sorry. Maybe the IT guy that asked for my info & then repeated it again when he sent it to me was serious. Go figure.

OK I am not an IT person. That response was rather forward! I tried double clicking on the exec.- no. I tried pressing & holding the "-" key & the "a" key- no. I do not speak that language. As posted before- I took initiative & drilled down the Ford phone directory & got someone to send it to me. I asked why noone else took same iniative? I got no reply. I have asked my work IT people about the app. They agree the bubble with the vin - I could just delete & save. But they could not say for sure that my vin was not in the cab as some validity check or id marker to see if it was posted. I have ot had the chance to plug it into another EDGE/MXK & see the result- post or neg. I do not feel comfortable giving out an app given to me by ford that may have my vin & could come back to me in an ill way. I have spelled out pretty clear here & on the sync forum tips & tricks & my willness to help others.

OK I downloaded the file. When I tried dragging the reboot cab or the indiv files over the .exec. or tried launching the .exc. Got same result- a mila-sec quick flash of what looked like a dos screen or a cmmand prompt scrren & that was it. Nothing strayed open or created a log file or anything.

Can you walk me throught the steps so I can see if the vin is there or not. What program do I download to "view" or "search" the cab file. Since the vin is in the outer comment box- would it be a stretch to think there is one in the other files? or is there just a validity check - meaning there is a command to look at that comment box I see a specific vin # or just any vin number to continue? Like an Excel formul- if this then that. If the if this is not present - then a no go?
