wifi I can get the mft sync to broadcast the wifi & then get ipad & ipod to select the sync wifi - wo ho- but then what.... My kids or passengers still do not get internet!!! to get internet somehow I would need to get the phone to pass that ability through car back out via the sync wifi that the ipad sees. but Don't the cell carriers ( mine AT&T) lock you out unless you pay the extra $30 or so to "allow" tethering? If so then why not just tether the phone to ipad for the EXTRA data you just paid for vs sharing the one you already paid for to make a smart phone work- ( can't opt out else it not a phone anymore) . So Again --back to why & what use is it Ford ?

CAREFULL 2.1 & 3.6 sound like two different platforms- the '08 being SYNC & the 3.6 being MFT. The MFT are downloaded to a USB from web site & free. The dealer can also do & MOST if not all do not charge at all. In the beginning - 2-3 years ago the dealers TRIED to charge to do a MFT update & were pulverized back into the ground. The dealer that tried to pull that one on me- saying we did 1.8 to v2.3 we are not doing the next - what did they have vision of the 9 more to come?? - They had to cut me a check as GOODWILL after I opened up a case file & escalated the issue. They will not see a $50K purchase from me again. I am happy with the next dealer I choose to do my service. Moral- Give that one the BIG salute & choose another.

So for 3.6 so far the possible negative is the reboot app not working & the features that were not fixed? It hasn't removed or broke anything?

Did Ford really write the 3.6 code to prevent us from using a reboot app? The delayed reboot came from Ford in the 1st place- here http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=fordsyncmb&tid=3904 was the last step in the zip file to reboot after applying the update way back for the Sirius Chanel lineup. Ford thinks erasers do not belong on pencils? or every window computer out there is wrong....

does the delayed reboot app still work?

"workaround is for the user to hit a button twice a year." or educated stupid America & state the DST is/was to engage a simple on/off not auto vs the oh yea your clock is wrong - we know why but removed for those few that do not get it - just hit manual adjustment.

many phones do not bring the photos over for caller id & Ford despite many asking will not allow you to import them like you do wallpaper. You can delete a pic but can not add. Go figure!

Davom97 Thanks for the testing. Currently in 3.5.1 ...The option is there through phone menu when selecting a contact to set their address as a destination. BIG BUT it doesn't work. I read a poster did testing & thought country code - say USA on iphones & MFT not taking that into account or ignoring it. The poster exported contacts in a mac deleted the country - reimported & got it to work. Can't do it native from phone. So it appears FORD did not address this issue.

not sure what you are asking about "%" I mention the HD2 or HD3 would offer 70's music or 1980's music where the main channel was still their own format. Since MFT/MLT only offers HD as an on or off for BOTH am/FM not individually.... I have found the AM HD not as strong & can constantly go in/out/in/out & very annoying.... If I shut off HD for AM it by default shuts off for FM. I raised issue- Ford could car less.... For that AM channel I will change to the FM simulcast on the HD channel. It is on a 30sec delay- so a little annoying -but better than the constant "shower" sound when it phases in/out...t

Since many updates have REMOVED SOMETHING....... Curious to see when we discover what was removed....

But like many DST items we see in life- some auto adjust & some its an easy LOGICAL press of a DST "engage" or "Disengage" if it applies to you & time of year. This could be a question to answer when you 1st start the system just like when you 1st pair your phone - 911 assist is off ---do you want me to turn on? Do you want me to turn on Auto-download of your phone book? So add the DST question.... What Ford did was create a Sync to GPS & then make it "NOT LOGICAL" to then have to manually adjust what is by default supposed to be an auto sync. We have a calendar in mft. It could auto-prompt you to adjust the feature to "on" or "off" base on the date...oh wait that would assume the calendar could do something other then be static...

Thanks for the idea of "Send to Car". I have had MFT/MLT for almost 3 years & the 3 years free will soon expire. & I guess so will the usefulness of their app since it is tied to services. Ford had the GREAT idea of changing the $60/year renewal price but changed it to $199 for Lincoln owners. This may be an alternative.

since this appears to be tweeked on the homepage now with the latest update 3.6 try that & see what you get... may be the station style as well

Some of my HD sub channels 1.) play "deeper" tracks of an artist & their album then what the main station plays- the top hit track only 2.) plays archived live concert recordings ( no commercials), 3.) simulcasts their AM sister station in better audio quality 4.) Will do a 80's or 70's channel, 5. ) Will do the Christmas music.......

So no Applink? What about the direct input of the GPS lat/Long in the Nav to set a destination? Or using your phone contacts that downloaded to send that address to nav? Ford Focus site showed an information screen of lat/long & alt. - What you could get before if you entered the diag. srcreen ---but did not tall about setting a destination form the lat/long/. IE when off rd at a camp site or something....

Over at syncmyride many have mentioned ie10 & mapquest is now problematic. Try google chrome or try the mobile apps- destinations or Lincoln mobile - I have done that & worked till bugs worked out.

I couldn't tell which direction SUB amp was screaming....

in reference to sync only update- probably referring to "value added" type stuff. Like the 1st sync did not have 911 assist or VHR & for $99 you could update & get those value added items into your older system.

Wi-Fi been discussed a lot in past 3 years since MFT/MLT was launched. Short version- not much. Had potential but Ford never partnered with 3rd parties to make a compatible plug in type usb Wi-Fi service and there have been many, many, did I say many? reports of when people have tried with some type of plug in card ----it states not compatible!!! The web browser that was shown at auto shows never made it to a production model. And yes Most phone carriers restrict a phone from tethering or creating a hot spot unless you pay $20+ or much more extra a month or are forced to join their mega plan. If you do that- your phone is the hotspot so you do not need to bring sync into the mix say if you wanted your kids to use wifi on a tablet or ipod or something like that through your phones data plan.

Photos need to be in the proper Size, dimension, etc per the owners manual. move to pc- size & then import via a usb then you can select as wallpaper.

Any other testing or reports? Like is the "TEXT TO SPEECH" ringer - is it fixed? the USB counter to nowhere? The GPS direct input of LAT/LONG, applink, the download contact addresses from an iphone- can you now use them to set a nav destination or is the USA country code still an issue? Where the FONTS equalized or do they still vary from large to small?

YES Talk them down!!!! let trial come close to run out & then ask to cancel. I got an ALL IN $110 for the year in 2012. I had a price given of $100 all in for 6/2013. They sent invoice that was $200+. I called complained louder & got $90 all in. All in to me means: radio, internet, taxes. royalty fee. I did not do the traffic/weather stuff. I enjoy the diversity of options & the stream on the computer, tablets/phones. If you do not get the North American call center- hang up- try later. Or better yet- have the across the world center do it- mess up & then you have option of attack to get a better price.

G... Glad you got it to work But EXACTLY MY POINT- "United States of America" to "USA" Ford implement BAD programing If that is all that MFT is lacking ... And even worse if they have not done an update to have a simple "return of a basic conditional statement. " if "this" then replace with "that". Basic Microsoft Excel can do it. Microsoft Word can do it. WAY back in simple Basic & DOS era can do that that

Sorry for confusion. Anger is at Ford, their IT Dept, B squared, & the ford escalation to a regional rep. process that had no solution & only attitude to the situation. It was not intended at you or OP! My point- it SHOULD NOT be a deal breaker that the "USA" field is there in the contacts- But FORD CHOOSES to make it that!!! I agree- to your point an edit via a mac is an option. A simple "script" in the code is another. Many IT guys have done just that in less that 2 minutes to shift the lookup code to 1 field over or to ignore extra fields & have saved the day for their employees. Ford should be able to do the same. My company has had to do it several times. Even outside payroll services have to do it to comply with the IRS when they want Payroll data imported from all their unique systems. If the GOV & public companies can align fields & ignore fields to report the Payroll & get us our W-2s so could Ford- If they cared. To the OP question- can you do with iphone alone- ie use your downloaded phone contacts that have addresses & use that to send to the Ford nav to set a destination-NO! Can you edit the iphone directly to achieve- no. Can android- depends.
