  1. and FORD decided not to run a simple script to obtain the 1st 4 key data fields address, city, state, zip. Ford choose to BLOWS UP in the WOLRD economy but people blame Apple. Ford advertises bring your phone to us & we will SYNC but Ford has a tough time following through... Can't blame Apple- when for choose this style.

  6. Yep! As discussed here since the release of MFT back in 8/10- The LACK of a user controlled reboot in the base software has been a major BLUNDER. The stupid corp. idea of we are great- there is no need for an eraser on a pencil mentality has more than BACKFIRED with the 9+ releases & constant removal of feature after feature with the tag line "in the interest of system stability & overall system performance" we have removed...... We have master reset which is overkill for many errors/prroblems- but still needed in some cases. The fact that a direct reboot app was distributed for a while before Ford management put a FULL STOP to it is beyound stupid. The fact that I and a few others were able to get a straight answer from Ford that- yes you can use the delayed reboot that is a part of the old Sirius channel line up update w/o harm as a app tool was amazing to get a straight answer. It has been stupid not to release teh DIRECT REBOOT APP. I am one of the few that has the direct ( not delayed) reboot app & pleaded on why it could not be further released or "unlocked" so we could distribute. It became clear that the ones responsible for distributing got a "lashng" & were told to cease & decist.
  7. AGREE 100% 1st thought is a "built in" dvd system BUT as kids change it is much better to NOT buid in. My kids (& their friends that ride in car) went from dvd's to blu rays to now movie files, games, music on tablets & portable devices. the free program dvdfab can rip movies in & then convert. Itunes & other are options. Even local library hasd digital downloads. If I stuck to buil in I woould be limited Back to your original thought- an option could be portable dvd with the velcro when kids are young. Advantage- when movie not done...klds can bring portable right into the restaurante or traveling bring right into hotel & stay quite while parents check in & sort out agenda... can go on plane etc.... for me -that progressed to the gadgets & then the apple ipod/ then pad... and so on., & when things break- lot cheaper to go to Walmart, Bestbuy, amazon, ebay, vs the dealer....

Does this happen to everyone or is it just me" So in reply to the BS from Ford & Dealer that those resultst are NORMAL I called BS on that! reverting back to AV is not with in spec- that is not how it happens on my car nor should it be re-index all the time is normal & with in spec- I call BS on that one! " have to re-index and create speech commands" common error BUT WRONG! mine doesn't. Make sure in the entertainment , usb, options settings u do not have it set to reindex.
  10. Can someone post the TSB in March 13 that addresses the GPS issues? It is talked in link below. After back & forth- TSB now appears to apply to 2013 & not 2012 or 2011 models EVEN though they can have the EXACT gen 2 3.5.1 that seemed to increase the GPS issues.   11. The new navigation SD card to go with the 3.5.1 update. The old card will no longer work after update. It is free. On the Nav you do loose the direct input of GPS (Lat/Long) & in the phone area you do get a non-functioning ringer- "text to speech."
  12. After 3.5.1 Install: You will loose- The direct input of GPS ( The lat & Long) on page 2. It was removed. You will losse the text to speech ringer option- it is there but not functioning, you will loose the alpha/numeric keyboard for entering any wifi passwords And YES- strongly reccomend the master reset before/after...as stated unusualy behavior has been noted but a mater rest seems to have helped. The GPS not acquiring & then haveing you tracked off route- seems to be more prevelant in 3.5.1 based on the feedback
  13. If you do not see "Show Notifications" under your Sync options on the phone try this: 1) Delete your phone from the car. Delete Sync from your phone. Wait a minute to make sure everything clears. 2) Turn the phone off and on again. You don't need to reboot the phone but make sure it is physically off and then on (not just lock and unlock). Turn the car off and then on again. 3) Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it do its thing (phonebook loading, voicemail #, 911 assist, etc.). 4) On your phone, turn BT off. Turn it on again. 5) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT. 6) Go into the settings screen for Sync. You should now see "Show Notifications". 7) Set Notifications to "On". 8) Back up a screen on the phone and turn BT off again. Turn it back on. 9) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to BT.

  15. Master Tech... what about the direct input of GPS. Ford removed on 3.5.1. Is it really removed or just inactive & still in the code?
  16. And now google maps is back as an option on the iphone. Be nice if Ford would work with Google & bring back google send to sync as well.
  17. Back up camera zoom- did it change in gen 2 3.5.1? I thought there was multible steps in the zoom in prior versions. I pressed the zoom today in the back up mode camera & it only zoomed once & wwas way in to piont of not effective.
  18. MLT/MFT in gen 2 3.5.1 The Text to speech ringer option is now broken. This is after a reboot & a master reset that did not resolve. Do not think phone dependant feature since it worked in all other versions & the phone was repaied after update. When a call comes in & the text to speach is selected - there is no audio- It used to announce the person calling. Appears others have seens same problem when readingover at sync my ride

The "mine works great" with no details really means nothing. Mine is great to If I define great just staring & doing nothing. I mention missing features and removed features and texasopa chimes in with nothing to support his position - no details, no elaboration. That is no debate or interesting conversation or true exhange of ideas or a diffeernt shared persectivewith that type of short reply. I made my points. Extended 2 year warranty with no mileage cap due to a messed up system proves my point. "This. ^^^^ " adds absolutely no value. I can read the post above . In the interest of full disclosure texasopa - did you have to pay for your new phone? I got Ford to pay me $300 to get a brand new iphone & paid me $180 for 6 months of a data plan due to my old dumb phone failing after the 3/12 upgrade. It was eaiser for them to pay me off then address the dumb phones not be supported at all at that time. Not a one was on the tested list post 3/12 update & my phone failed despite severaly log files sent to an Ford IT engineer. Dealership verified it was the MFT software from corp & a dealer could do nothng other that nod their head & agree that the customer was telling a true story. I am not interested in hearing more on why Ford thought it was prudent to approve that kind of disbursment to solve my issues to only have new ones surface with the BLAME THE PHONE.
  20. I beleive many of us saw the Adds- pictures, videos, the auto show demos .. & then we put down the $$$., Then it doesn't work as promised. Funny...there is a section for apps in the MFT menu- there just aren't any released after 2 + years. Funny- there is a feature called app link- to actually link those apps to the voice infoentertainment system- it just doesn't work with MFT. Funny - isn't that the point of sync- to use your voice? Yea- must be us non average buyers that saw the vision and actually expected it to work. So the average buyer is expected to see that GLAMOR but never use the voice or press the buttons to see that it doesn't work. Yep. You got us. So glad we are not AVERAGE!! So Ford is revamping/overhauling the system- twice in 2012 with a PR/Marketing announcements, mass mailings of USBs & glossy books, extendning the warranty to UNLIMITED miilage, increasing the warranty time by a year and then by another year because us NON-AVERAGE minority car buyers expect more than the average buyer? WOW. Ford moved the earth for us few. You have LOST so bad in the defend Ford to hell and back that you no longer hear what you are typing. Ford said bring all your different phones to OUR system & we will SYNC! But Ford can not deliver & now Ford defenders blame us for actually following that call. So to get back more on point---If Ford puts tech in car- YES- the reasonable expectation is that the tech will work for the masses & will not be taken away with-out notice. A small % of non-compliance is expected. BUT as we know based on Ford's actions & the tech reviews- not are writtiings-- small non compliance is simple not so- there has been a LARGE non-compliance. And yes- We complain if something doesn't work. We complain louder when the result is it is left as non-compliant or when it is simply removed without notice- RATHER than make it MAJORITY compliant.
  21. Remove code... but isn't that he point? Performance upgrade back in 3/12 did improve performance but at a cost of removing many features & dumbing down the sys. Now more and more are removed at the cost of dumbing down the system again. And we paid a premium price for it? Agreed the wifi that had many options to be robust but Ford gave us no practical use & keeps messing up the keyboard- hmmm that should have come 1st in removal before nav. Got to admit there is a problem when you invite owners to beta test a backup solution for the mater reset (should have been there 2 years ago) & then go ooopps & go into retreat & silent mode when that test is not the offered or rolled out. A problem when you need a public PR complain for a mass overall twice in one year cause the system just isn't performing as planned. I bought into Lincoln Luxury vs. foreign. 1.8, 2.3, 2.4,,2.7, 2.8, 2.11, 3.0, 3.2, 3.5 that is NINE versions. That is a lot of reasons in 2 years to have issues with Ford for the Lincoln Luxury. Don't get me wrong I am glad they are trying to improve- we just question the speed & accuracy of each move. Fix something- maybe- so roll the dice on that BUT we have a gota ya moment hanging over your heads on what might be removed. Tell me that doesn't make you want to %%$## A built in NAV is a very premium price vs. a $150 Garmin & a big money maker for them & Ford really blew it in proving that premium will never be worth it.

Akirby... always challenges the owner on why something doesn't work, why it is hard, & never offers real ideas to get it to work....But then name drops some of his knowledge... but No solution offered ... For example: see sync forum...I participated in the suggestions to bring back the Temp back & delete the Far/Cel & Menu text to make room & it worked. I suggested the fan speed icon come back in some fashion & how a press of a button- IE Touch- would bring it back on a on demand basis- and it did. I asked and got the On demand reboot app & not the delayed reboot. I asked if the delayed reboot in Sirius could do similar when it became clear they stopped the on demand reboot distribution- got a yes from the IT tech- & then posted about it. Then others extracted it & the app took off. So How about some of the same on your end..... "Bluetooth profile that supports that feature hasn't changed. The new cell phone providers..." Seem to be missing my whole point. Take the BT out of the mix since we all see it is not robustly applied by all. When you need to download the phonebook into sync- that should be part 1. Part 2 should take that incomplete data base- do not blame BT- & add to the data base. Ford has not provided that solution. They have on several documented emails to me stated they were exploring & did make progress but as I said- it got back burnered. So bring it to the front burner. If outlook & BT push from another phone are ways to get phone #'s in sync when a phone was not compatible with auto download- then let us have a similar option to get a photo into the data base when BT phones do not do it on 1st go around. Just like the address that is not complete & not usable in the bnav system. Let's go in & edit to make complete.
  23. Another reson for seperate import to complete an incomplete data field. Just like the address in phone contacts that does not fully work for a nav destination. The option is there in MFT but the blaim of "phone dependant feature" is the fail safe for it not working. I thought I read the USA part of the address in apple is what makes it not work. SO a SOP in software code- write a script to allow the needed fields & iqnore the rest. Or have the option to edit the fields to shift it over. This occurs oustde of software ...for example basic Excel skills can combine or blow out characters so they appear in the correct row/columns dispite the source not being in the correct sectors. Electronic submissons of fininacial data., wire transfers, by different sourcers always needs tweaking to have each system send & receive correctly. We expect Ford to put same effort. Every master reset blows out the nav. data. & ford has no backup. They then say the data from the phone that is sitting there is non usable. They need more IT resources & smarter resources to achieve a more robust intergration.
  24. I didn't say it did NOT work. We ALL Know some phones do work BUT most do not work. My post focused on the DELETE a phone picture is an option but the the ADD a phone picture functionality is not. I focused on the idea of separate import of pictures after the phone book download process that Ford has not completed as an option. You can add phone number contacts into MFT from other sources & have it work with your own phone but not pictures. Sync my phone app for example works with regular sync but not MFT. Outlook contacts can be used to get the phone numbers into the system sync & mft, another phone via BT push can add the phone numbers into sync & mft & then be used by another phone. The rub is picture should be an option of import as well but is not. A phone dependant feature is not a full stop. But ford is not devoting the time to allow these options to come to the release to the public point.
  25. agreed same result. And in the grands scheme of things- a wifi option that really does nothing & now is corrupted. Great. Can't download updates, can't browse web, there aren't supported USB dongels to give kids in back seat wifi access like the older commercials. Many over at the ford sync forum mentioned as well. The mod over there is newer- Nick- & is a 3rd part contractor. He is not Ford employee & does not have access to a ford vehicle. He can only summarize the high activity & send an emails to ford & hope for a reply. SO our changes of getting any kind of helpful feedback has become very slim.
