  1. I cant imagine how they would possibly plant a virus in it. Sync has pretty strong firewall built into the program itself to prevent unsigned programs from being installed. I would image they pulled they pulled the usb drive out before sync reported the update was completed.
  2. I upgraded to 3.0. It does clear up some minor issues (none of which I really ever noticed), updates gracenotes and adds the ability to integrate waze via mobile apps using Sync. It only took 15 min or so and I feel it was worth it. The easiest way to do it is find a VIN number for a 2017-2018 Ford Edge and add it to your syncmyride account. The website will then indicate that your 3.0 update is available. Follow the instructions (use a 16gb or larger usb drive). Once done, you can delete the VIN from your account. Or you can use sync 3.0 (build 18093) file that is floating around on the web. Both are legitimate and work fine.
  3. Just as an update. It was the power steering line. It was split/leaking at the pump and needed replacing. Of course this required intake manifold removal, etc. $250 parts and $450 labor. Dealer threw me a bone and I got it done for $600 and change, all in.
  4. Did you have it plugged into the USB, when performing this test? If so, try it again with the phone unplugged. I have noticed a discrepancy (phone GPS is always incorrectly HIGHER than speedometer) when CarPlay is active. When I use the phones GPS and compare to speedometer while unplugged, they are both spot on. When CarPlay is active, your phone will use the Edges GPS for speed determination and it goes a bit screwy. I can assure you, your speedometer is the correct reading.
  5. Either way, its less than the cost of a new car! We shall see...
  6. Well, all signs are pointing to PS fluid. I pulled it out of the garage today and it was bear to just steer it into the driveway. Needles to say, tow should be here shortly. And of course, my ESP plan expired last month...
  7. Cant really tell. Looks like it is. Its an AWD. Im leaning towards an axle seal.
  8. Just woke up to this little treat this am. I'm thinking tranny fluid. Can't really get underneath to have a good look yet (decided playing Rugby was a good idea yesterday and going from a prone to standing position is a bit tough today). At first glance, any thoughts? Looks like it's coming from an area above the center of the from axle. I'll drop it off at the dealer Monday (I've only got 69K miles so should be covered). Dealer is only 10ish miles away. You think it's OK to drive there or should I be looking for a tow?
  9. Sync 3 cannot be natively upgraded to support OEM navigation. However, Waze can be used with SYNC 3 now.
  10. Hmmm.. last thing to check is maybe try another iPhone cable. I had a generic cable and it was hit or miss. Switched to an anker brand cable and voila.
  11. Its my pleasure to help. Do you have any other USB devices connected at the same time? I find that (at times) I have to make sure my phone is the only thing connected.
  12. When that happens. Leave the usb cable attached and close Waze on your phone and restart it. Then click back on Waze on Sync 3 (if need be, somethings it works without pressing anything on Sync).
  13. You can always try something simple first. If you have a way to use a windows PC to read the card, try this: Put the card in and right click on it in windows explorer. Select properties, then the tools tab. Click on error checking. Check the box that says automatically fix errors. Let it do its thing and then try it in the car. If there are some small file or card errors, that may help fix it.
  14. You may also have to reprogram the fob (sorry, when you said all in one, I was thinking IKT). Have a look in the service instructions: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/ford_content/catalog/accessory_files/2011_2014_Scalable_Kit_Truck_10_18_2013.pdf
  15. Try this: Learn Remote Start System to Vehicle (Key Start Vehicles Only) NOTE: Make sure the brake pedal is not depressed during this sequence. 37. Press the vehicle's unlock button located on the driver's door. Make sure all doors are unlocked. 38. Put the key in the ignition. 39. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON) position. The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON) position. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated. 40. Wait for 10 seconds and the remote start module will program itself to the system. After 20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been exited.
  16. Heres a detailed write up in another forum (sorry all!) that details the USB wiring. I assume you purchased the pigtail? http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=3881 Or you can go the easy, but pricy, route (which I did): https://www.4dtech.com/sync-3-retrofit-usb-hub-wiring-adapter-gen-1/
  17. Just FYI, If you change the code to 5753, you do also lose Sirius Travel Link on MFT and you will lose 911 assist on Sync 3.
  18. Looks like you purchase an -SB screen, which is flat sided. You needed the recessed screen: Youll have to make custom brackets or get creative.
  19. Got it working... I deleted the CarPlay profile on my iPhone, and then connected the phone to sync 3 via usb. I also made sure that nothing else was plugged in. It connected and found Waze right away.
  20. You should clarify that the units come with NA maps instead of EU ones. Youll have no way of changing European maps to the North American version.
  21. While trying to make this work, I dropped over a dozen f-bombs, half dozen a-holes, few d-heads and a slew of other unpleasantries. Waze and Sync didnt respond to any of them. Go figure.
  22. Ugh. It worked for 20 min. I wish I could recall the steps I took to make it work. I turned off Bluetooth, disabled apps via usb in the mobile apps menu. Then connected and it was working (no sound on Waze). Then I disconnected usb to see if it would reconnect once I plugged in and no go. Cant get it to reconnect. Also, I wish Waze would work (when it was working) on the mini map (home screen). It only works if you select the Waze tab.
  23. Just trying to see who successfully has the AppLink working? Apparently you need to have SYNC 3.0 (check the ford owners site for the update) installed and the latest Waze version 4.37.00 (as of April 15th). I have the latest version of Sync 3 (release build 18093, google it) and Waze. Im on IOS 11.1.2 and it is NOT working. Im wondering if it is an IOS version issue as well.
