  1. Sounds like we have a similar problem. Mine seems to be failing where the hardline transitions to a flexible line, but the leak seems to move forward from that area onto the transmission as well. You probably need to clean it up and then see if you can pin point the leak. Have you been having to add an p/s fluid?
  2. Roadlinerbiker, the Edge is built in Canada so don't have any fear that you are buying an "American car." I inherited my 2012 Edge and my dad had purchased a maintenance program that covered 60,000 miles. The only major services provided were for oil changes, 3 air filter and 3 cabin filter changes, and it covered a failed battery and a set of new wipers. I normally do my own maintenance and blowing 2 hours going and sitting at the dealer for a "quick lane oil change" was not worth it to me at all. I think the "quick oil change" is designed to be slow so you get so bored that you go check the new models....
  3. You got me - I'll admit the 3.5L water pump replacement is 8x the cost of one in a Toyota.
  4. In my case I've put 228,000+126,000+297,000=720,000 miles between 2 Toyotas and 1 Honda. The Honda got the WP changed as part of the 100,000 service. No WP on the van that had 228000 when sold and the truck, still going at 297000 miles, got a new WP at 195,000 just as part of preventative maintenance when the timing belt was replaced. So, no failures. Anyone have a 3.5L engine that the WP made it to 195,000 miles? And the replacement cost is not $1000 - cheapest I have heard is $1500.
  5. $1500 to replace a $100 part that can take out an entire engine is, IMHO, a "shit design." The WP is easy and cheap to change in my Honda and Toyota as part of "preventative maintenance" lessening the chance of further damage from a failure. macbwt, what coolant do you use?
  6. I just did a drain and fill on the trans and did not check to see if it was low to begin with. The PS fluid is a little low. I've clean it up, again, and plan on checking it a little closer to see if it is tied to the power steering.
  7. Looking at this one again. Vehicle now has 66,500 miles. I believe the fluid leak is coming from the power steering pressure hose. Probably either the banjo bolt or at the transition from the hardline to hose. Anyone know the torque spec for the banjo bolt? If it is leaking here then the fluid would have to be running forward. Anyone have some input on if I am heading down the right path? Here is the leak looking forward: Banjo Bolt: Hardline - here is my best guess of the source of the leak:
  8. Would be tough for me to remember where I parked. Does look nice.
  9. Was the $1500 figure from dealer or local shop?
  10. Could whomever changed the oil last not removed the old filter gasket? I have seen an old gasket get stuck to the engine when removing the old filter.
  11. 2012 with Hankook's went 55,000. Still had some life but I normally replace before wear indicators are showing due to decreased performance in the wet.
  12. Can you expect a 2.0 Ecoboost to go 300K without major repair expenses? How much would it cost for a turbo repair/replacement? I guess I am still pissed that since I learned it costs $1800 for a water pump on the 3.5L in my Edge.
  13. Ford engines are designed to go 150K miles? I guess I am just old school and too spoiled by a Toyota 3.4L engine with 296,000 miles with only leaky valve cover gaskets over its life. Purchasing a vehicle for the long-term is an idea of the past.
  14. Can you give me more info on this option? Thanks for the pictures Nick H.
  15. I have a 21012 Edge SE that did not come with the daytime running light option. I am investigating addition of DRL. I found a product from drivebright.com. Anyone have experience with any other products for this application?
  16. ConestogaActual, how many miles does your Edge have on it?
  17. Glad I read this thread. Thousands of $s for a water pump job is absolutely ridiculous. I guess I won't be taking my Edge to the 300,000 mile club like my Toyota truck.
  18. I would inspect CV axle as well as motor mounts as a start.
  19. If you search an OEM Ford parts catalog with your VIN you can find the different rear pads: Part Number: 2200(BR-1377) Dimensions: 2.5 x 3.88 x 4.38 Part Number: 2200(BRF-1377-A) Dimensions: 2.63 IN x 4.13 IN x 5.75 IN
  20. ... or if you need it the extended service campaign will apply!
  21. I think you'll find that the owner's manual only recommends replacing in pairs. Your tire shop may also recommend installing the 2 new tires in the rear.
  22. I do not have pictures, but I have seen a Lime Green Edge on 33 in. "floaters." I remember the Craigslist ad stated it could even make a U-turn in the street. I'd suggest getting a Jeep with 35s.....
  23. I think I only recall 1 high mileage/low repair thread on the 3.5L.
