  1. I made my own like I've done before with all my other turbo'd vehicles; just cut, insert billet can (not plastic, they blow up under boost - don't ask how I know), clamp down and go. This one was $85 on eBay. Never had a CEL come on. Just empty every oil change. I'll post pictures of the install later...

Are you collecting something in your set up, or is your results much the same as Beezz?

I was keen on getting a catch can on my new Sport from the start, but after reading Beezz report I held off - thanks for all your efforts Beez.

  2. I am having this recall service scheduled soon, I just got the notice in the mail stating that replacement parts are now available. Anyone else had theirs serviced for this recall yet? I'm curious to see how it turned out and how long it took them.

I'm also keen to hear of others that have had it done before I give them the go ahead, even if they have the parts when I go in for my first service I might chose not to do it then, because I do not want the issues that @Quila reported above.

  3. While my wife was polishing my car this afternoon she spotted a defect in the paint - see the attached photo.

The paint is actually peeling off the plastic front bumper on the right side where it meets the headlamp.

I'll address this with the dealership when I take it for the first service in about 3K miles from now, but just wanted your opinion on how they should deal with this - touch-up or repaint?

  4. My apologies if this has been posted - I searched but couldn't find any posts on it.

I received the subject recall notice in the mail and would like to hear from others that have had the recall done and if there's any signs that the trim etc. has been worked on.

I'm OK with my local Ford dealership doing it, but want to be sure that my vehicle isn't the first one they do and any of the trim is damaged while doing so - don't want them practising on my car.

  5. Would one of you be kind and check the attached photo and compare it to your car and tell me if there's something missing on my engine cover mounting.

I'm guessing that the threaded brass piece should have a post in it that engages in a rubber grommet in the cover.

  6. I serviced my Sport at 5K miles, changing the PTU oil using Royal Purple, and the engine oil and filter using Mobil-1 and OEM filter.

I would like to take it to my dealership at around 10K miles or when the intelligent service indicator says its due, but would like to stick with the oil I'm using, Mobil-1 but before I asked them I'd like to hear from members if this is generally accepted by Ford dealerships.

Of course I keep all my receipts for the services I do - by law this should uphold my warranty, but would like to hear if others doing this have had any issues with warranty claims being rejected on DIY services.

  7. My Sport was built in Jan 2017, and this weekend I did an oil and oil filter change at 5.2K miles and noticed what looks like an oil leak, however it looks odd because the oil was clean, and there was no oil on the underside cover, and no oil spots on my garage floor.

I've cleaned it and if I see more oil on the next oil change I'll be taking to my dealership.

  8. Changed my engine oil and oil filter and PTU oil today at 5.2K mi.

There was oil on the right rear corner of the oil pan, but I could not see where it came from and it was clear like new oil, so I'm suspecting that it was dropped when the engine was being topped up at the factory or dealer - cleaned it up and if I see more at the next service I'll lodge a warranty claim.

  9. Today I changed engine oil, oil filter, and PTU oil at 5,200 mi.

The PTU oil change was real easy with the drain fitted on these later models.

As can be seen in the photo, the oil blacken the paper towel and there was a few filling attached to the drain plug magnet.

I used Royal Purple 75-140 synthetic, and will most likely change it every 10 ~ 15K

  10. UPR Kit is installed. You can essentially buy the f150 kit and there is a few minor changes needed to make it 'fit' on the edge. The mounting for the cans is quite awkward. It'll be a pain to drain them, but since the smaller can is on the front side of the engine it'll be easy to guess when the larger one needs to be drained. LMS had the edge for 5 days to adapt the kit to it. It cost more than I had hoped. Ill post labelled pictures of the install soon. If you want to install it, it should be relatively simple considering you'll have an idea of what goes where.

Also I talked with both managers at my local dealer and they both said that the warranty isn't voided as long as any issues that come up aren't a direct result of the catch can system.

Looking forward to the pictures and additional detail.

  11. Ford don't make mud flaps for the Sport rear, so I went ahead and ordered the ones for the front, which should help reduce the dirt flung up onto the sides.

These are really good quality made n Germany, but don't match the Sport side trim profile - see the pictures.

We're moving into a new home in a week or two, so will need to drill the 6mm hole for the 4th plastic rivet after the move.

  12. I've had my 2017 Sport since 9 March, 2400 mi, and get 20 to 22 mpg with 80% highway and 20% town driving (light traffic) - no lead foot driving.

I reset my No. 1 trip meter every fill-up and the computer mpg is very close to my calculated mpg based on gallons to fill and distance covered.

  13. The cargo area mat feels more plastic than rubber, and they ship it rolled up so it takes a while, and a warm day for it to lay flat.

In a way, the plastic feel is a good thing when it comes to sliding items forward.

The bumper protector is also plastic type material, looks good and will help in the event of something dragging across it.

The Cover is a bit of a pain in the butt if you have packages that are a little taller than a regular shopping bag, and inevitably when we go shopping at Costco I need to take it off.

Due too poor packing, it was delivered with a small tear in the material, and the plastic handle chaffed on the black metal square tube - parts.com offered to replace it, but I need to pay return shipping so I'll just live with it, and in future buy this type of thing at my local dealership.

Of the three things in the kit, if I was buying again, I'd not include the Cover.

parts.com were reluctant to ship because they could not find my 2017 Edge Sport VIN on their system, and I had to convince them that I'll not hold them responsible if it did not fit.

  14. I've just bought a 2017 Sport - is there any improvement in the later models PTU's, such as a drain plug etc.?

If not, I'll use the instructions here to add a drain.

I plan to have Ford do the first service and thereafter I'll be doing it, and plan to use RED LINE SHOCKPROOF® GEAR OIL in the PTU, which is what I use in my Harley transmission.
