  1. oversized hairdryers for sure in stock form
  2. I didn't expect anything to stick to the front splitter either, but that is where i put a twin turbo decal (you can kind of see it in my avatar) and it has lasted through several power washes and shows no signs of lifting. obviously a decal is probably different than a wrap, but so far so good for the last 4 months or so. no prep was necessary.
  3. they might. the ring is between two pieces of plastic if i remember correctly. may not be enough of an edge (pun intended) showing to grab it
  4. I didn't realize you two were looking to swap aftermarket turbos in here too. just swap a junkyard LS with china turbos in there and be done with it! ok, ok i didn't mean that... we'll stick to ford parts!
  5. lowering springs put me into -2.5* camber territory. I backed them down to -1.9* but it brought my toe further out than i'd like it to be, so bumped it back out to 2.1*. It has factory adjustment in the rear to do this, and you can actually get it within factory spec. on the fronts i bought the camber bolt off amazon for $23 (pn 81280). gives you +/- 1.7* adjustment
  6. I can say with 100% certainty, on the curves, my 2016 AWD does NOT understeer. her backside comes around with ease. and that was with -2.1* of camber. however, i think everyone would benefit from a rear sway bar. keep us updated!
  7. if you don't have a set of picks, get one to pull the o-ring off the old filter. any kind of dental tool will do the trick, other wise you'll be snapping toothpicks and jamming the tip of a pen in there trying to pull that thing off. it's a 3 second job with a pick. also, don't overfill the thing, and give it a good 15 minutes before you check the dipstick after filling. i've been doing my own mechanic work for quite some time... and the last time i let some dope at work change my oil, he put 6.5 quarts in it because it wasn't reading anything on the dipstick. i could have choked a man that day.
  8. Roots, you're not kidding about these paddle shifters being worthless. I can't tell you how many times I paddle up and end up in 3rd gear when i was trying to hit 2nd at the top of 1st gear rpm's
  9. i guess i'm just used to junk headlights of yesteryear. i was impressed by the lights on mine! I don't have the HID package. then again this is the newest vehicle i've owned since my 2001 325i and those lights were just very average at night
  10. Not a fan of the design change. I was surprised to learn of the composite pan and plug set-up but have not run into any issues. they type of sealer they use instead of a gasket needs to be installed correctly, and you can bet some of the service guys at the dealer aren't there to make sure its perfect, they do their job quickly and on to the next one. hopefully the next tech is a little more careful when applying and sealing the pan.
  11. Nick, I've got a nice t-56 magnum xl and a 351w stroked to 398ci if you want to go a different route with your edge....
  12. i've found that if you push the mirrors forward (toward the windshield) it opens up a large cavity.. that is where nearly all the water sits after a wash. It drove me crazy for the first few washes but now that i've found it, no issues since!
  13. looks really good! do you have any pics of the car from the side, and front/side with the rain guards on the windows? I never thought to put them on mine, and want to see if I like the look. do they create any wind noise/turbulence?
  14. Not sure why you are taking any of this as an attack. I'm just speaking up and asking questions for people who are uninformed/misinformed, myself included. My questions for the edge platform are not going to be answered by a manufacturer that makes "claims". which Is why i said the link to the BOV manufacturer didn't help answer a single question i had. since you and jim have been miles ahead of anyone else in trying to make headway on these vehicles with aftermarket stuff, my job as a consumer is to figure out what is/isn't worth the coin/effort. I'm posting here, directing questions to the two of you, because you are the 1st that I'm aware of diving into such things, and i'm wondering why I should, or should not, join you in doing so. Hence, the questions directed at YOU, the ones doing the mods and passing along the facts and feedback. I have given my thanks to both of you in threads here and there, because I, along with others, are grateful. So please, don't assume these are attacks, when in reality I am fact checking. what i'm gathering thus far is, a stock BOV or diverter valve, or whatever you want to call it, CAN crack open/leak under high boost. I'd say that is a fact (in it's own misguided right). What i'm saying is, that I can not find a single documented case where that has happened thus far on this platform with or without a tune. so here I am, asking the 2 of you, why YOU installed a BOV, and why some of us should consider it also.
  15. what burrcold said. if the keys are within 3ft (i think that's what i read) of the sensors, just touch the back of any door handle and they open right up. I thought this was the coolest thing when i first got the edge.. i was still living in the 80's era of cars
  16. Oh and jim, don't think i'm trying to be a party pooper here. I really REALLY respect what you and special K are doing for the wants and/or needs of others out there that love their sports!
  17. I'd be interested in putting money down on the intercooler if they could keep the cost roughly the same as the CX intercooler chris is running. bang for buck is there with the CX option, and with no physical data to see how much it cools temps vs CX I would hate for people to throw money at it with no proof the only reason would be because you want to. it is not necessary if you are not constantly going hard on the throttle. heat is the enemy, yes.. but for the occasional gas'n'go on the highway or hitting it hard at a couple stoplights, there wouldn't be a real need to upgrade. some people have money to put into things that aren't necessary. I've been there, and I've done it. I may put a catch can on this because it "might" help with catching some gunk and coking, and hopefully it would increase longevity of the engine. so that's me spending money on stuff that may be unnecessary. some people would say the same about an aftermarket IC.
  18. I'm not sure how that was supposed to help me. If you're expecting me to trust someones word for it because its on the internet, you must think i'm a registered voter! I have not heard of any single event of someone having an issue on their 2.7l because of the stock valve leaking
  19. Jim if they do make more than a few of these, please let me know how to get my hands on one. most importantly a price.
  20. I guess my question still kind of remains. the edge has some kind of diverter valve already, so the main difference between the stock valve, and this blow off valve, is that it supposedly doesn't crack open under higher boost? i'd be interested to know where this info came from as to our stock valve opening under higher boost. as far as my conversation with livernois, i was told that is not the case on the edge, even with their v3 tune.
  21. Usually you can control at what pressure the bov is activated but when i said what is the benefit... i guess i'm saying it because, after all, this is a ford edge, and even tuned i personally don't believe these are pushed hard enough to need such a mod. but then again, my research has been limited, so maybe jim can give me more input if you want the sound, just do the VTA mod, for less than $3
  22. what is the benefit to this?
  23. looks like they did a decent job there. I wish ford would have made their design more like some of their other ecoboost engines. the air having to come down before passing through the IC then changing directions out of the other side is just a poor design. but then again, this isn't supposed to be a racecar!
  24. I'm chasing 1/4 mile numbers so i suppose i'm stuck dealing with a bit of spin until i find the sweet spot or get better track prep
  25. alignment down here is $90-150 toe may be out of spec so an alignment may be in order, but like akirby said, cupping tends to be shock related. if they replace the shock, generally they recommend an alignment as well. could go either way on that one.
