  1. I have a 22 ST and love it. It is the quietest riding car, but definitely has the power to pass or go up steep mountain passes when you need it.
  2. I don't think they have put a paper copy in the cars for a few years. My 22 Edge ST didn't have one. I can login to my Ford website or see it on the car's display, but I still think it is a cheap move. There may be times when you need to look up something and may not have access to the electronics.
  3. I thought this was normal behavior. I've had the Sync 3 and 4 systems in my last 3 Fords, two Fusions and now the Edge (a 22 ST). When you connect your phone to Sync Bluetooth, all you are connecting is the phone call side, such as making calls and receiving texts. The sound input is an entirely different setting if you want to hear music from your phone. For all the vehicles I've ever owned to get music from my phone I've had to select the phone as the source. Otherwise the sound output stays on AM, FM, or SiriusXM.
  4. I have a 22 ST, and I believe it was the first year they cut out the hood insulation. I ordered one and installed myself in less than 2 minutes. I didn't try to get the engine cover as I agree with others that it is not worth it and not a big deal.
  5. Thanks Haz! Well, the photo I attached to my last message shows the label that is on the left hand side of the valve cover (standing in front of the vehicle). Could that be the label for the engine even though it doesn't look to be the same color as the example label in your post? It appears that is from a 2014, and possibly the label is black with white letters now. If that isn't the label, I have no idea where in the heck the vaccuum pump is located. If this is the correct label, then I'm in luck because that engine was built on March 17, 2022, well after the October 2021 date when they changed the type of metal in the valve. Thanks! One odd thing is my label also shows FWD as the "drive type" even though all the STs were AWD in 2022. I suppose that engine works in either type of drive, so maybe they simply specify it as compatible for FWD.
  6. So the big question for me is how can I find the engine build date for my 2022 ST with this engine? The assembly date was in early April of 22 and I didn't get the car until late April 22, and it says they changed the way the parts were made to eliminate the problem in engines during October 21. Would be nice to see if mine was made before or after that date. Don't know if the engines are made just shortly before assembly, or if they're stored for months prior to going in a vehicle. I can't find anything on the engine except this large sticker near the oil filler. Could 229 mean 2022 February 9th?
  7. They are probably correct, yet it is odd that both Ford (via the fact you can't order an ST with upgraded brakes with a spare) and the dealer telling me they won't work. I had a similar situation with my prior vehicle, a 2017 plug in hybrid fusion. It did not come with a spare, I thought due to not enough storage space in the trunk due to the batteries, but it turned out the spares would not fit over the regenerative braking on the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. I tried several spares that said they would fit, but they didn't. I do a lot of road trips, so what I did is got another rim and put one of my old tires on it when I bought new tires. Wrapped it up and put it in the back seat when we drove it to nowhere Wyoming one year. I just won't drive a car with no spare anymore. When I ordered my Edge to replace the Fusion I was very careful to get one that had a spare come with it. Good luck to Gunner in finding one that works.
  8. I have a 22 ST (not Line). I purposely did NOT order the performance brake package because they don't come with a spare. Just not doing that. My 22 ST comes with a T155/70R18 as well. As luck would have it, I was on a road trip in May and hit an object on the interstate and blew out the sidewall on the Hankooks that came on the car. It was in a fairly isolated area, and so happy I had the spare. If your ST LINE didn't come with a spare, I assume you have the performance brake package? If so, most spares won't fit on it because of the size of the brakes. You might have to get some specialty rim for the spare. I've seen posts from others that have eventually found one that worked.
  9. Yes, they should go well beyond 65k miles. My son drives pretty easy on his car. He has a 2007 Ford Focus with 130,000 miles and the original brakes.
  10. I get it, but probably most of the parts on cars assembled in the USA are initially made in China. Doesn't really make much difference.
  11. I agree Ford is making a huge mistake. I bought several Fusions, then they stopped making cars. Seemed like a mistake. I moved to a 22 Edge ST this time, and would buy another one as well, now no more Edge. Don't want an Escape or Explorer. My dad and other family members retired from Ford, and I worked in the plant briefly as well. Would hate to switch brands, but if they have no cars but the Mach-E and no midsize SUV what else is there?
  12. When you say you have a glass roof, I assume you mean the electronic panoramic roof? If so, there is a thread on this that pinpoints the cause of the rattle that many of us have. I just fixed mine a week or so ago. Here's the thread..... Rattle/Ticking Sound in Back of Panoramic Moonroof - Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers - Ford Edge Forum
  13. I live in Phoenix, so we know about heat. I've had my 22 ST for about 14 months and haven't seen that behavior yet.
  14. After further troubleshooting, my rattle/ticking was coming from the same place mentioned by EdgeST2020. I was able to cut off a very small about half inch by half inch piece of an old bath towel, and push it under the shiny metal clip that goes over the black bar with a long small screwdriver. The rattle is gone! I barely have it stuck in there, so I think it is possible it could work its way out, but for now it is gone. At least I know where it was coming from.
  15. I'm resurrecting this thread as I have a 22 ST that makes this click/tapping noise. I've had the car 14 months, and it didn't start until a couple of months ago. I got in the back seat area and tapped on the headliner in that area and "think" I have reproduced the sound. Mine could certainly be coming from that metal rail, but I noticed it the most when I tapped on the ANC grille as kruzr1 said above. Glad I found this thread and I'll probably try something on the metal bar first to see if that does anything because I don't want to break it.
  16. Thanks Haz. I believe that's what it is on mine as I do only hear it from that area, and only at idle. "Not detrimental" sounds good to me.
  17. This isn't similar to the clicking I hear all the time on my 22 ST 2.7. Mine is a faint clicking from the top of the engine, and it occurs all the time. I think it is just normal because it is the same constantly, not when starting cold or decelerating.
  18. I have a 22 ST and had a similar noise when I first got the car a year ago this week. Sometimes when backing out of a parking space or turning into one, going very slop I would hear a dull pop, like a tie rod or something. It would go weeks without doing it, then start up again. Eventually I had my 5,000 mile service including tire rotation, and it never did it again. Not sure what it was. Maybe a lug nut not tight enough? Maybe check to see if all yours are to torque specs?
  19. Thanks Haz. I have a 22ST with the 2.7 and posted this question below when this was initially published by you in December. I still hear a fast clicking/tapping noise from my engine, but it isn't limited to when it first starts as it always does it......here is what I wrote below..... I have a 22 ST with the 2.7. I don't necessarily hear this tapping or rattle noise on start up, but I do think that the engine is a bit noisy when you are outside the vehicle with it running and standing in front of it. It does seem to make a constant fast clicking noise all the time on mine. I attributed this to fuel injection or something else "normal" as it runs smoothly to me. It doesn't make any different noise the first 5 seconds than it does all the time. I also wonder what the problem is if it only does it, as reported, for 2 to 5 seconds after it starts, is there really a problem? Is it harming the engine?
  20. I ordered one from Ford parts and the dealer put it on for me for free. They were embarrassed about Ford's cheapness in leaving this off. I was able to peek at them putting it on and am sure I could have done it myself. They didn't take anything off to get it on. Only 6 screws, I believe.
  21. That's a shame to ruin your new car experience. Too bad (hindsight I know) you didn't check this at the dealership as I would not have taken the car. So you have to be going less than something like 6 mph for the camera to activate. If you are just barely moving the wheels will it come on? I have a 22 ST and haven't had any of the camera problems some had with the software update on the 21s. Another thing to try would be to connect to your home wifi with the vehicle on or in accessory mode and go into the settings and check for updates.
  22. Yes, I insisted on the OEM windshield. When they installed it I saw the same FoMoCo part number on the w/s as the one I had. Hasn't been wet since I had it replaced. I really don't see how the w/shield replacement could have caused this. Possibly it did it before this and I just didn't notice because most times I just leave it on all the time.
  23. Just a couple of days ago I noticed the sound system comes on immediately on its own whenever I start the car. It turns back on to whatever I had it set to, usually Sirius/XM. I have tested this multiple times by turning it off manually where the large center display says "Sound off." Still, whenever I press the ignition button it comes back on. Never did that before. The only thing that happened is that I had the windshield changed out due to a large rock hit. Very sad to happen on my 22 ST with only 6,000 miles. They did hook up a laptop to "calibrate" the sensors, and I did have a problem with the wiper blades not parking themselves correctly, which they came back and fixed the next day (they didn't have them lines up correctly with the marks on the windshield for the parked position). Just don't see how that can be related. I haven't done any kind of reset yet as not wanting to have to re-pair my phone and all the presets and other settings. I searched for this online and found limited information and nothing directly for the newer Fords with Sync 4 and the large screen. Any ideas? Dave
  24. Now I've found 2 additional issues that I didn't have before the windshield was replaced and they connected their "calibration" computer to my system. 1. Each time I start the vehicle the radio comes on, even though it was manually turned off. Never did that before. 2. The auto start/stop no longer functions at all, even at times and places I usually drive when it worked before. The little start stop icon is grayed out with a strikethrough. I read in the manual that you could look at the start/stop information display screen and it would show the reason, but I went through every menu and couldn't find such a screen. Edit....I did some searching about the start/stop function and some said it wouldn't work if the battery is low. I put a charger on the battery for a few minutes and now the function works normally. Not sure why the battery would be low as I drove it this morning for quite a while and on the freeway as well. I think I will make a thread in the correct forum for the radio starting each time on its own. Dave
  25. They came back today and followed the instructions Haz provided (which they said they did when they replaced the glass but obviously didn't do right) and it works again perfectly. Thanks for the help!
