I have a 22 ST that came with the Hankook tires as well. I do believe they are considered a performance tire, but don't provide a good ride at all......and I know the ST won't ride as well as a non-ST. I now have 31,000 miles. The Hankooks have worn fairly well, but I probably have less than 5,000 miles left before I wouldn't want to drive on them anymore. I'm also looking for something, preferably Michelins. I do see many have the all-season Michelins, but I don't really need that kind of tread here in Phoenix as I'll probably never drive mine in the snow.

The new plug worked fine. Just have to turn it in a couple more times to tighten it. As a side note, I still like the "regular" one piece screw on oil filters rather than the two piece cartridge. The small o-ring on the tip of the cartridge is a real SOB to get on without damaging it.

Getting ready to change the oil on my 22ST and have used the previous drain plug a couple of times. I read somewhere that you should get a new one each time, so I went to the dealer. They handed me this plug in a plastic package that looked completely different in that it was way longer, maybe 3/4 inch. They told me it was a new replacement for the old one because "they had problems with the old one." Not only is it longer, but it has 2 O-rings instead of just one. Guess I will find out tomorrow when I change it. The new one is part number ML3Z-6730-A. The old part was KX6Z-6730-B. Photo attached. Old one is on the left.

Thanks STBEAST. Yeah, I have seen photos of people with 20s and 21s with the cooler, yet I have a 22 without it? I too wondered about the studs which is one reason I just had the dealer do it. I talked to the tech that did the work and he said as the dealer, they are required to change them. He said they are rated as only able to be torqued one time, but he thought you could use Loctite, but then he's had some where people used it and they had a real hard time getting them loose. I didn't get a chance to see the fluid that came out, but the tech said that the RDU actually gets hotter than the PTU and I was wise to change that one as well. Maybe just a placebo effect, but I swear the car runs smoother and quieter than before. I should be set to 60,000 now.

So I changed out the RDU, PTU and transmission fluids this week as I hit 30,000 miles. I did the RDU myself thanks to the help of posts on this forum. I had Ford points, so I had the dealer do the PTU and transmission today. I've used this dealer for a while and bought a lot of cars there, so they pamper my whims a little bit. I asked to see the PTU and the studs and if they were going to change them out as Ford recommends. I had been under the car before and saw the PTU cooler studs, but noticed today I don't have the cooler at all, just a plug it appears. I thought that after 2019 as others posted on here, they actually had the cooler, but my 22 doesn't? Seems odd to me. I have attached a photo showing what appears to be just a plug to me. Anyone else know about when this was supposed to be changed to the actual cooler, or have a 22 without a cooler as well. I'm in Phoenix, so our heat is a big deal. I was thinking the cooler would help a little. As a side note, I changed the RDU myself and only got about 22 ounces out of it when the specs say it holds 28 plus/minus an ounce. I'm glad I did because it came out completely black, and a lot of sludge stuck to the magnet on the drain plug. I got 26 ounces back in it before it started pouring out the fill cap, so that's all I could get back in.

2019 Ford Edge ST (cooled) PTU fluid replacement with pictures
Davidoo replied to boostededge's topic in Edge ST
Ok, I got under the car and found the cooler and fill plug. Looks the same as the photos posted originally by boostededge. I only have ramps, so it definitely would be tight to get in there, but looks like it could be done. With ramps I wouldn't be able to turn the tires and squeeze more fluid in either. Also, just wondering if a failure happens by chance after I did this if Ford could tell it has been tampered with/changed and since it wasn't done at the dealer they might not cover it under my Ford ESP extended warranty? They might say I did something wrong. -
2019 Ford Edge ST (cooled) PTU fluid replacement with pictures
Davidoo replied to boostededge's topic in Edge ST
I have a 22 ST. Is the procedure the same, or is it a different PTU now? Also, I noticed in the original post and comments it is mentioned that the stud/nuts were tightened to 97 in/lb torque. Do you mean 97 ft/lbs instead? I've never heard of in/lbs. -
Safety Recall 24S55 - 2021-2022 Edge ST/Nautilus - 2.7L EcoBoost - 05-10-2021 through 10-29-2021 Build Dates + Other Models - Engine Valve Inspection Test (Initially Electronic, then Running with Restart), Failure Leads To Engine Long Block Replacement
Davidoo replied to Haz's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Thanks Haz. Is something new about this? I thought this same issue came up a couple of years ago. I have a 22 ST and was concerned about this and found my engine was made in March of 22, so it didn't apply. -
Thanks for the responses. I have downloaded Forscan before, but I don't have the cable yet, and thought if it would work now would be the time to invest in it.

I'm only 9,000 miles since 2 oil changes ago, so I'm not due yet, just would be nice to know the date. I believe I did it about 3,000 miles ago. I do some long road trips, but in between those I drive the Edge very little. Also, I use Amsoil and they say you can go 20,000, but I never exceed 10,000.

I couldn't find a specific topic for this, so I posted it here since I have an ST. I neglected to note the last time I changed the oil. Out of character for me. Of course, I know the oil life monitor will tell me, but I live in Phoenix with intense heat and often change it earlier. Will Forscan show the date the oil life monitor was reset? I don't see that available on the in-dash screen. I use Amsoil and had ordered enough for several oil changes a while ago, so I don't know when I did it last. Thanks!

The part number is KT4Z-5811778-D. It is titled as "Deflector - Air." When I first got the car I noticed how the back bumper cover over the trailer hitch was loose. Also, someone I know was driving behind me and they said the bumper cover was flapping in the wind. Just ridiculous for a new car, so I ordered the part and the dealer put it on for me. They were shaking their head about it as well. This part does a good job of stabilizing the bottom of the bumper cover.

Yes, I have a 22ST and noticed it missing the first day. I ordered the part and put it on. So cheap of them to do this.

Seat Filter for Cooled Seats - Design Changed!
Davidoo replied to omar302's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
That's good info. I have cooled seats, but the dealer and some internet searches say there are no filters anymore. -
Anyone with any sense knew this would happen. I warned people, but now those I know who voted for this act like they didn't know who he was?

So there are 3 separate drivetrain fluids......transmission, PTU, and RDU? Just want to verify that to see what I want to get changed.
-
I have a 22ST nearing 30,000 miles. I've seen several different posts in the past about changing these fluids, but are a bit confusing to me. Are there 3 different parts that need the fluid changed. I've seen PTU, rear differential, but I assume there is also a regular transmission that needs it too? I know some have changed their own, but I don't really have a way to lift the vehicle level and just don't feel like doing it myself. Will probably go to the dealer as I have a bunch of Fordpass points. What am I looking at as far as cost, and should all 3 be changed around 30k miles? Thanks!

As mentioned, the system does this on its own.

New phone techology limitation 2020 Edge
Davidoo replied to BamaInArk's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Do you have a different type of case on the new phone? Try it without the case. Some cases don't work well with wireless charging. -
What I'm talking about is when you have the radio display showing on the large portrait-oriented screen in the middle of the dash on the 22 ST, and the song title playing is longer than maybe 15 characters, it just cuts off the rest of the title. Prior to the 22 ST I had a 2011 Fusion and a 2017 Fusion. On both of those you could touch the display where the song title was located, and it would scroll right to left with the full title. I even think it scrolled on some songs automatically. Sometimes, with Sirius, they show the year of the song's release date at the end of the title, but I can't see it. Not sure why Ford would take away something so basic that was available in 2011.....or maybe there is a way to do it and I can't find it. The screen does this on both FM and Sirius stations. Anyone find a way to do it? Maybe Forscan?

It is in the very back of the area where the roof opens on the right (passenger) side. There is a silver metal clip, almost hook shaped, that goes over a metal thin rod that goes from the left to right side of the vehicle in the back. It is very hard to see. You have to push the left side of your head against the glass (with the sunscreen cover all the way open of course) and look towards that back passenger side corner. I got one of those very small eyeglass screwdrivers and put a thin piece of cloth about 1/2 inch square over the end of the screwdriver and pushed it between the silver metal springlike hook that goes over the bar and the rattle/ticking is gone! I have had mine work its way out a few times and had to push it back in.

Cruise Control alarm bell 2024 Edge
Davidoo replied to mooseboy's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It is definitely the lane centering. I took my Edge on a 1,000 mile roundtrip jaunt over the last 4 days with almost all freeway driving, so I used the cruise for hours at a time. A few times I heard the chime and the steering wheel was orange. Most of the time it was caused by the lane lines not marked clearly, or the sun was reflecting on the road and the camera probably couldn't get a clear image. It just seems like that's what it should do, to let you know to pay attention and seems like a good idea to me. There certainly is no malfunction. -
Have you tried to put the spare on the car? I know this may have been discussed before, but there is a good chance it won't fit, in addition to the AWD issues a different size spare causes mentioned by others above. I had a Fusion Energi PHEV prior to the 22 Edge ST I now have. It had regenerative brakes, which I believe are a bit larger than the regular brakes, or somehow makes the hub a different size, I don't know the techs about that. The car didn't come with a spare, and there is no option to get one from any Ford dealers. The reason is the rims weren't deep enough to allow for the size of the calipers to be able to attach the lug nuts. I went to 3rd party sites that said they sold spares that were compatible......none of them fit. The fact there wasn't an option when I ordered my ST and wanted to get the brake package tells me it could be the same issue. I took several long road trips through Wyoming and Montana and there is no way I would go up there without a spare, so what I did is I found the dealer had an extra wheel that matched my Fusion, so they gave me a deal if I bought new tires, which I needed anyway, and put my best old tire on that rim....so I had a spare! I would at least try the one you bought and make sure it fits and you can tighten all the lugs.
