  1. Don't worry, since ceramic and wax sits on the surface, you haven't damaged the clear coat or paint, but you will need to remove the ceramic coating. I'd check online to see if there are proven techniques and solutions specific to removing ceramic coating. The best way I've found to remove old wax is to wash the car with Dawn or another detergent that breaks down grease, then clay bar the car, wash and apply wax or ceramic. If you want to do just the affected area, try a clay bar on a small area. Of course, never use Dawn to regularly wash the car. Good luck.
  2. The same thing happened to be on my 2013 Fusion. It was on the inside so I just sanded it down and it was ok and not visible.
  3. Put some bar soap on the belt and if the squealing stops tighten the belt.
  4. I purchased it through an online Ford dealership in Michigan and now that I think about it, they added restrictions to protect themselves, and if I recall, mileage was one of them. The dealership tried to sell me a similar one for $2400.
  5. It sure does. I just paid $1440, or $40 a month for a Ford Premium ESP. It gives me 4 more years on powertrain and continues everything else until Feb. 2029 or 100,000. There are mileage restrictions on Ford plans and my Edge is a 2020 with 44,000 at the time, but I was able to purchase a Ford ESP because it was a Blue Oval Certified Gold used vehicle, otherwise I wouldn't have been eligible for a Ford plan.
  6. You can run, but you can't hide. The camera on my phone is watching me type this reply and forwarding it to the main office.
  7. I know. I'm old school and try to keep a minimal digital footprint, I don't like it, but know I have no choice. Here in AZ, you have to drive at least 10 over to avoid being run off the road. I've been her for 6 years and my rates haven't changed dramatically, so fingers crossed.
  8. I just saw, but didn't read a story about Congress working on privacy protections for Americans. Considering the players, I don't expect any real safeguards against tracking and driving behavior if it takes money or control from corporations. I have SYNC 3 with Nav, so as long as my driving isn't being tracked, I'm not worried about them knowing where I go, I have nothing to hide. In the event of a collision, isn't there an internal devise that records speed, braking, steering et al. Like as already stated, my iPhone is tracking more than my car.
  9. Do I sense a bit of cynicism in your reply? I've had it on two Ford vehicles, use it all the time and have never had a problem, either intentional or accidental.
  10. There's a huge library of order guides on the Blue Oval forum.
  11. There are certainly bonuses when cost cutting measures are created.
  12. My original question was about draining the battery, not charging. I just wanted some confirmation that it didn't drain the battery and niceonept answered my question. Since I plugged them in, I noticed once that the nano battery wasn't fully charged, so that indicates that they shut down, otherwise it would always be fully charged.
  13. I misspoke in my op when I stated two usb ports. There is a usb and a 19 pin (?) port in the center console below the climate control. I have a very old iPod plugged into the usb and a less old nano in the 19 pin. It's about 3500 songs.
  14. I had a Focus with SYNC 1 and to say the least, it was buggy.
  15. I'm using the center console usb ports. I'm assuming they shut down either when the lights go out, or after a few minutes when the ecu sounds like it's clicking off.
  16. This question is as old as SYNC itself, but after checking eight pages of posts and using the above title as search words, I didn't find anything. There are conflicting opinions on the interweb, and most say devices power down and don't drain the battery, but I have two iPods plugged in and want to leave them there, so I'll ask the question, does leaving devices plugged in all the time potentially drain the battery?
  17. PVC Valve hose. Hose vent.
  18. In the right light, I have also noticed the color change, but just thought thats the color when the light hits it a certain way. I've read that the plastic used is called 'molded in color' so it's consistent throughout. Pull the panel off to see what the color is on the backside.
  19. Very nice, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side. 😉
  20. A salvaged seat would be cheaper, but a good upholsterer can probably repair just the collapsed section and reuse the cover. Just a thought.
  21. Copy that. The proverbial unplug it and plug it back in.
  22. I just went out to check it and it's working. I scanned for updates, but didn't want to do a full reset because of nav favorites, radio stations, etc. Hopefully, it just had to burp and now it's good.
  23. When i placed my car in R today, the SYNC screen went all blue and the rear view camera did not activate. After about 3-5 seconds, a message appeared that read rear view camera currently not available, contact dealership. I toggled between P, D and R a few times with the same blue screen appeared. I did my shopping and when I restarted the car, the system had reset itself and was working as designed. Has anyone else experienced this? Hopefully it was just a hiccup.
  24. And now spent $50,000 plus or minus depending on the car, to buy a car that was originally under $4000.
