  1. Check your private messages, I will buy the oil.
  2. I've had several cars that I recall the hood insulator was held in place with metal clips which bent over and held it. No way where they going to melt and drop the insulator. I think the plastic clips or push pins are just a less expensive way to hold the insulator up. My Edge has two metal clips near the windshield side of the hood, and the rest of the pad is held by push pins. No way it this ever going to drop in case of a fire. Sounds like a good topic for Myth Busters!

    Gas Gauge question

I usually get right around 400 miles before refueling. On average, I put in between 16 and17 gallons or so. I have in the past gone 460 miles before refueling. That was on a tank of gasoline with no ethanol driving back from Oklahoma to Dallas.
  4. I've never heard of them dropping in case of a fire. If you look, they are always held up by push pins, clips, glue, or other methods. I think they are just a sound deader and maybe a heat shield.
  5. Owner's manual says that replacing the battery will not cause the FOB to lose any functions. Page 126 of this linked owner's manual has the steps to reprogram a FOB. Before doing that, I would switch batteries between the working and the non working FOB just to make sure the replacement one is strong enough. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/07edgog3e.pdf
  6. Don't look under the insulation! Might be the same situation as when you look behind the climate control!
  7. Exactly. When the owner traded the vehicle in to a dealership, he could have received a pro-rated refund from Ford for the unused remaining warranty. If he did nothing, then perhaps he could transfer it to the new owner. There is a fee involved for administrative paper work and to issue the new policy in the new owner's name. I have never traded in a vehicle and not applied for the refund. When I sold it myself, I always offered the warranty to the buyer as a part of the purchase price. It was with the understanding that they pay for and file for the transfer of the warranty with my assistance if needed.
  8. Third world problems! Here's a picture of mine. It was the first (and last) time I will ever need to look at it. I hope you don't look on the underside of your hood and see the paint!
  9. No, I've never mentioned it to a dealer. I've never mentioned the problem with the ambient light choice changing by itself after a week or so either. Having had a discussion with them once about what type of oil they use for The Works Package (finally told it was Valvoline). Come on, Ford makes a big deal on their owner's web site that the Works is Motorcraft synthetic blend with a Motorcraft oil filter. Of course, this is the same dealer who wouldn't sell me a Ford ESP saying they only carried their own "brand" policy. I have no real ambition to let them play with my vehicle unless it is absolutely necessary. I'll live with the little problems until someone posts a sure fix, then I might take mine in.
  10. I believe the Sport comes with tire sizes of 22 inch, where as the Limited comes standard with 18 inch, or 20 inch optional. I don't know how much of a difference you would notice in snow, or when it comes time to purchase replacement tires (price wise). The wheels on the Limited, either 18" or 20" are going to be chrome clad. That means the first curb you hit, you are going to damage the wheel covering. It can not be repaired. You will have to live with it, or replace the wheel. I'm not sure if the Sport uses a chrome clad wheel, or an alloy wheel. The engine size is the big difference between the two models, but window MPG is within 1 of each other I believe. The Sport has some nice appearance differences, including the rocker panel moldings, the front grill, and the rear tail light lenses may be different from what I read on another post. Why Ford didn't even offer HID's on the Sport model is beyond my thinking. Other owner's have added aftermarket kits and are generally happy with them. One thing you can try is put the VIN number into a search engine such as Google. Sometimes old ads will show if the car had been up for sale anywhere else. I have found owner's who have purchased a car, then tried selling it as if they were the original owner or had owned it for a long time. Just one additional free step to take to help you in your search. You can also enter the VIN to see and print the facsimile of the original window sticker, showing options, standard equipment, etc. http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Ford.html

    Gas Gauge question

It's almost always been +, seldom is it under what the display says was used.

    Gas Gauge question

Whenever I fill my 2013, I have always had to squeeze in the last 3 gallons or so after the automatic pump kicks off. There have been posts made about maybe a vent tube being blocked (even from the factory) but no one has ever shown where this vent tube is, or how to clean it out. I'm at 26000 miles and 19 months of ownership. I have filled up at dozens of different stations and have never had the pump not kick off with room for about 3 more gallons. Once filled, I always show 400+ miles to empty. I usually average between 22 and 23 per gallon. I check the dash display each time before refilling to see how much fuel was used. I always end up putting in within .5 gallons of what that says.
  13. Why would I or anyone leave a key in the ignition? That would serve no useful purpose other than allowing someone to see the key and perhaps steal the car. I don't think the regular key has the advanced electronics that would prevent starting the car if someone were to break in like the IA key does. The main purpose of the IA system for my use is the fact I don't have to carry a key or a fob in my pocket when leaving the vehicle. No chance of losing it. I also really like the push button start feature and again don't have to fumble with a key or key-ring. I'll say it once again. I have been using the key pad for the last 19 months and have never had a problem, or thought, gee, I'm not taking advantage of the automatic unlocking by just touching the door handle. That feature is not a priority to me as much as the convenience of not having a key ring or key and fob to worry about.
  14. Been doing it like I said for the last 19 months, so I don't mind using the keypad at all.
  15. I just heard on the news tonight that this is the 9th coldest winter here in Dallas, Tx since the records were first started around the late 1890's. Yes, any type of freeze usually shuts this city down if there is rain and it freezes. No salt trucks, just sand placed onto the roads. Normal today would have been 58 degrees. Instead, it was 36.
  16. Intelligent Access Key. It allows you to use the Start button inside the car without having to insert a key into the steering column or on the dash, where ever an ignition switch would have been placed. It also allows you to walk up to the car with the "key" in your pocket, touch the door handle, and have it unlock with no use of a key. The IA key is actually an electronic FOB and doesn't really even have a key such as a normal FOB. The rear hatch is opened or closed using the FOB also. It was an option on the Limited and perhaps some of the other trim levels also.
  17. Yes, you can use the same lugs, center caps, and TPMS. I changed mine out when the car was still only about 2 months old. I read too many horror stories of people looking for replacement chrome clad wheels because they hit a curb. The wheels were not repairable, so you either had to drive with bad looking wheels, or replace them. I sold all four of mine to an owner who's wife also had an Edge. Between the two of them, they had 2 ruined wheels, and knew it would happen again. He was happy to purchase my wheels for $1000.00 and have two spares for the next time! Very happy with these alloy wheels now. I found them on eBay for $625.00 which included free shipping.
  18. I hide my IA key in my Edge and never have to carry a key or fob with me. I have to use the keypad to lock the doors when leaving and also to unlock the car upon my return. Since the IA key is inside the car, it doesn't unlock the door by just touching the handle as if I actually had the IA key with me outside the car. I also can't open the rear hatch remotely without first unlocking the car using the key pad. If someone were to break into the car to steal it knowing the IA key was hidden inside, they would not be able to start the vehicle just by pushing the start button with their foot on the brake. The anti-theft measures built into the car prevent the IA key from starting the vehicle once the doors have been opened UNLESS the correct code had been entered into the keypad to open the door! Some how the system knows the IA key was inside the vehicle when the door was opened, and it determines if the door was opened using the code or not. If you leave the key inside, and try to lock the doors using just the lock button when you leave the car, the horn will beep and the doors will not lock. You have to use the keypad to lock it. I love not having to carry a large or bulky key fob with me now, knowing I can leave the IA key inside the vehicle. I have owned the Edge since July of 2012 and have left the key in it the whole time. Never any problem.
  19. Sorry the car and wheels are dirty, but the weather has been crazy around here. I took it up to the car wash to clean it before taking pictures but because the temperature is around 32, he closed the wash due to freezing concerns.
  20. I know this post is over 6 months old, but is Pandora still showing the artist and song title on your screen when connected via BT? I just started using Pandora and BT in my 2013 Edge with Sync and MFT. I only get the UNKNOWN on the car screen, never any artist or song title. I am getting text notifications. Perhaps I'll try to repair the phone (Samsung S4) and see if Pandora info appears.
  21. You will not be able to keep the larger hub centered correctly if you don't use some type of hub centric ring like WWPerfA ZNOW mentioned. The cost of four rings can be found for under $10.00. You just need to find the correct size. 2011 and up should have a hub size of around 63.4mm, the 2010 and older around 70.5mm. So you need an ID of 63.4mm and an OD of 70.5mm to fit the larger wheel hubs onto your smaller hubs on the 2011. Check with a supplier to make sure of the sizes I listed. This link shows you what they look like. You may have to contact some of the sellers to find the size you need. http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=2425144011
  22. Check the classified ads here on this forum, eBay, Craigslist, or local newspaper ads. The factory wheels for the Edge are chrome plated ( a piece of plastic glued onto a steel wheel). Other Ford models have chrome or alloy wheels which are not plastic pieces glued on. Flex wheels, Explorer wheels, and others may fit your Edge.
  23. Don't forget that those 48 months or 48000 miles for the ESP started counting from the day the vehicle was first put into service! That means you only have 29000 miles and perhaps as little as 18 months or so, depending when the car was first sold. You may want to consider a longer warranty period if you plan on keeping the car longer. You see for yourself the savings you can find online for the ESP. I've never done the tire/wheel warranty, but you can always find wheels on eBay, in the classified on here, or on Craigslist for a lot less than the dealer!. You also have auto insurance which may cover any damages, just don't know what kind of deductible you have.
  24. Any update or report of success?
