  1. You'll get slightly better MPG once the weather warms up. WInter fuel does not do as well as summer, not to mention the warm up for heat thing already discussed.
  2. Briandye, I agree, it seems too simple, should have happened every winter. It was very inconsistant also, once in a while the lights would go out but the sensors were still screwed as even a light tap of breaks at parking lot speed was causing ABS to start pulsing, basically better off when it was just shut off brake wise becasue it could not read hte speed correctly. I am also assuming it was the fronts that had the problem but could have been something at the rear that I will not see until I get it up on ramps or with wheel off (have to do rear brakes soon so hope it lasts). And Yes, amazing how spoiled we have gotten from all the electronics. Once I adjusted my driving technique to the last couple front wheel drive cars I had, a celica and an accord mid 80's-early 90's. Not sure I would ever concider one of the FWD edge/mkx after this, not really good or great in snow, though no traction control either.
  3. To the OP, same thing happened a week ago on my 07 mkx. ABS kicked in then seemed to stop working and I started sliding, barely made it by a truck on a down hile narrow road in heavy snow. All lights on abs, trac control and wrench, everything felt off for rest of ride to work. After reading this and testing in parking lot sure enough I was now driving a front wheel drive no ABS/traction contol vehicle. Been snowing for 3 weeks and could not get it to shop or anywhere to work underneath it so back to 20 year old tech, no abs/traction control. Low and behold, took it car wash as I was taking a couple out to dinner and as I exited car wash all lights were off and everythign felt normal again. Been working since, got it in driveway in daylight and was able to spray down both front sensor splines with WD40 and make sure sensor was plugged in. So it seems snow/crud/ice clogged up either splines or froze sensor. Have driven in bad weather for last 5 years and nothing like this ever happened but am happy to wait for spring to get underneath and really check it out.
  4. Same thing on my 07 a couple years back, new caliper fixed..
  5. Installed the front set of drilled rotors and ceramic pads over weekend. Broke them in with a few heat /cooling cycles and if they do not warp in 5000 miles like the last set of stock rotors then it's a WIN... Definatly more bite with these pads.
  6. Doing my brakes all around as I don't think dealer does lube the slider pins. Had new rotors, pads and calipers replaced 2 years ago. Front driver side dragging again, new aftermarket rotors and pads going on tomorrow and making sure calipers get greased.
  7. Had my seals done last month @18,600 miles, We'll see how long they last.

I brought my 07-MKX in on Monday and picked it up on Tuesday with a replaced seal, drove all the way to work without having to shut heater/vent off at stop lights for the first time. We'll see how long it lasts (my hope is for ever) but still does not sound like chances are good.
  9. 16K on 07 mkx, leaking like crazy. I am going to wait till warm weather to get it to dealer so I can at least drive motorcycle while in shop. PIA..
  10. I tried the Disk-Italia Kevlar pads on my WRX and they really tightened that up, noisy though. I am going to do the same on MKX as I liked the performance along with new rotors. Less dust also.
  11. The thing with Honda's is that they do everything well but excel at nothing! Really Vanilla when you come right down to it. Ex-wife used to say "I love my Accord!" and I'd be like "doesn't take much huh?" Well I was bored of her before I was bored of my car !!!
  12. Not sure if you can do this on the Edge grill but on an MKX, the "snorkle" draws air right up a path behind the grill but is open facing the grill. I simply marked out where it was on back and drilled out the solid plate in between the waffle grill openings, thus a boost of cold air going in, kind of a ghetto ram air system, along with the K&N. You cannot even see the holes unless you go down to eye level with them. Computer MPG went up a few 10'ths than before..
  13. Put me on list, 07 MKX, 15k on it (just picked it up 3 weeks ago used). First time driving with heater on, could smell oil burning at stop light. Has extended warranty so I just have to get it to dealer but that in itself is PIA. Guys at work were busting on me to buy American and I joked that "I did but it better not be in shop every month", guess i jinxed myself.
  14. They do look noisier w/ the wide tread design but I hate the Conti's narrow tread that pick up every pebble they roll over and you hear them enough. I always liked the incredible tread life of Toyo tire, had them on 2 other vehicles. DO you mind if I ask what you got them for $$ just for reference?
  15. Since I bought the car, my computer has not gone above 14.8mpg for my city commuting. First tank of gas with K&N and the drilled grill to let the air in, I hit 15.3 a couple times. Going to let it average out for a few tanks now as it was pretty much set at 16.5 when I bought it but don't know how the previous owner drove. It probably is a small gain but that is pretty much what I expected without messing with the computer and giving up power for MPG.
  16. Started at 10:30 and finished up all cleaned up at 5:30. Would have been quicker if not held up on bumper cover latches around rear tire. Left the heat shield over the Cats off as they looked pretty much useless, kept all wire harness's away so should be alright.
  17. Dude, get the OCD checked, no need to badger, you made a valid point now check the meds...Your right but try not to respond compulsively. I want these cause they are easier and don't have to worry about someone moving your mirror a bit, still should catch something out of the corner of your eye.
  18. I installed one about 10 years ago in an F-150 and found it is worth every cent to have dealer do it....
  19. Going to start at other end, intake and ECU, work back to exhaust and no, a low rumble would be the right thing not the 4 cyl buzz.. Thanks for the welcome..
  20. Different vehicles respond better than some with intake i.e more air getting in, than others. I have installed K&N filters in the last 3 car/trucks and had good results with some (95 pathfinder) and little to no change in others (97 F-150 and 02 WRX). Have done extensive work with bike intakes and they all respond greatly to any change in intake. It's worth the $50-60 bucks to me for a drop in just to try to gain something. I am also going to open up the grill right in front of intake duct as the grill is closed by a blank backing panel right in front of the intake. Drill out the panel and cold air goes right down the pipe. We'll see what happens.
  21. I am now a one week owner of an 07 MKX, got it looking as new with only 15k on the odometer, loaded for a reasonable price. Look forward to learning the tips and tricks of the ride. Especially any performance/mileage mods.
