The rumor is early 2012 - if you are that frustrated and getting no support/satisfaction from your dealership, then you might as well start the lemon law process. I doubt anything major will come out sooner.

I was just told this week by one of the facebook Ford reps that the self install of 2.11 was going to be available soon, but you have to be on a more recent version then I am on. So those of you that suffered with dealer updates early will be able to do this one. I will still have to go in. They didn't tell me it was going to be available this week though. Good luck Wilson.

Our service department is open on weekends for shortened hours, but there is only one Sync guy - so that has to be during the week. Of course, it is also 20 miles in the opposite direction from work, so we tend to take our car out the night before and drop it off and pick it up the next day. We are also lucky enough that we can car pool so that we can be without our second car for a day or two. There is a dealership just five minutes from work, but it is Cal Worthington - so you can understand my not wanting to go there (being from Cali and all, I am sure you know the history of him too)

I wouldn't call mine perfect as I know there are some glitches that I have, but they are so minor compared to most people that I will say there is hope for everyone. I am still on version 1.8 and I will have owned it for a full year in two weeks. I have never had to pull a fuse or disconnect my battery. It definitely is not my Iphone, but it is perfect for a car computer system.

It could just be something on the screen getting illuminated because it is in the background of the software. I know that if I push in the right spot, it will say that I have turned on my AC seats which I don't have. Doesn't really turn anything on, just looks like it does.

When you start you use your defroster - does it defrost your mirror? and if someone one is behind you do they dim like your rear view mirror does? I don't think any edge comes with the dimming - only the Lincoln version?

Wilson - you missed in the title that they have an SEL - so a different stack then yours.

I think they add it so that if you ever sell the car or move to Caii, you don't have to do any retrofitting. I don't know what it changes though.

I have asked the ford social media service people on Facebook and they have said that they have not received the new maps from Telnav yet - I then went to Telnav and asked them when they would be available and they directed me to Ford. I am thinking this won't be updated as often as we would like.

The ones that came with the car are amazing - I have never been as comfortable driving in the dark before. I actually felt like I could see! I love the ambient lights too - since they are on so much in the winter.

Which would you prefer they fix first?

I have never changed the volume on my actual phone when in the car - I do all my changes on the car. The amazing thing with the issues with this system is the extremely wide differences between everyone's issues. Personally, I have no idea what the newest update is like or how it is functioning. I have been extremely lucky in the quality of my system. I have had a couple of reboots, my screen will turn back on if the doors are opened in the wrong order after turning the car off (locking it turns the screen off) and every now and then, I can't seem to get music to play from my iphone via bluetooth. Nothing major - so I still haven't done any upgrades. I am on version 1.8 and have been since I got the car last September. It does seem to be very dependent on the quality of your dealership, so if you have options close by, I would talk to all of them and see who you think is the most honest and knowledgeable about computer upgrades. One nice feature is that your radio and phone volume aren't tied - so you can have one blasting and not the other. I find that I turn the volume up when I switch to my phone, but I wouldn't say it is maxed. Showing the pictures sometimes, sounds like a sync issue not the phone - but it is all more the bluetooth connection then anything else. What version of sync are you on again? version 2.11 is out and some people are reporting it is more stable then previous versions. It still is not the complete rewrite, but might help you out if you want to try it. Hope this helps.

It is possible to have the dealer turn them on on prior models - just not the 2011.

I went from a completely stripped down manual 99 escort that only cost 10k brand new - so yes - it is a huge improvement and a completely different car. If you are looking for a high end luxury car - stay with those brands and those prices.
