Liftgate support cylinder

Recommended Posts

hi guys

my 2007 Edge's liftgate (not power) will no longer stay open by itself. The support cylinders are tired and need replacing.

has anyone found a good replacement part for these? or do I need to go to my dealer?

thanks

Norm

Not many options really for replacement. Either Motorcraft, Rhinopac, or Strongarm. I have the Strongarm lifts, and don't really see any improvement over stock. Probably should stay with Ford/Motorcraft.

I still have a couple of Strong Arms, that I got, test them, but at the end I prefer the Stabilus...those are just tested brand new....if you are interested, just contact me...I will sell them lower than any dealer...

I bought a StrongArm 6120 for my 2016 because I can't be bothered to go to the dealer for $20 worth of warranty (I assume its covered), but its about 1" shorter than OEM. Anyone got any info on what the right part is?

Do you have manual or power liftgate? The parts will depend on that, I guess ...

Pretty sure the 6120 stops fitting past MY 2014, looking at mfr catalogs. Not finding aftermarket fits yet.

The Sachs product has outlasted the Monroe by a significant margin for macbwt. Possibly a case of product quality being >>> warranty.
