DNBush
Car is over five years old so I'm thinking it's probably good to replace the original factory battery. Question is, what does every one think is the best replacement? I understand that it should be an H6 or Group 48 AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery but beyond that I'm not sure what the best choice would be. I know I could go right to my local Ford dealer but I suspect that might be the most expensive option. What should I do?
1004ron
I would go with the H6 AGM Everstart Platinum from Walmart. Be sure to reset your battery monitoring and select a new battery code if you change size and type.

Regarding the reset of the battery monitor, the second step says "Turn ignition switch to on (don't start car). Wait 10 seconds." In a car like my 2020 where it's a push button, does that correspond to pushing the button once with the foot off the break?

edgeidiot
Not sure about what you are referring to about the Costco warranty. Costco warranty is 36-month prorated. Walmart is a three-year free replacement.
Blk22Edge
Wondering how the OP worked out with the new battery and which one they went with. My 22 Edge keeps going into "battery saver mode" and it was a sluggish start for it today. (-5 degrees Fahrenheit) But whenever it gets below freezing I get the battery saver mode message. I'm not a fan of Big box store batteries. Thinking of going OEM but not sure. Mine uses the AGM battery.
garycrist
I have had mine (2022 ST) replaced already (AGM) in less than 1 year. From reading all over, it appears that there were a bunch of bad ones for that model. My date of production was 11/22 and replacement 8/23! edgeidiot
Does the Edge have an undersized alternator? I do drive many short distances, but it only takes a couple of trips for the start-stop (yes, I know everyone hates that) to stop working and in about ten days, I get the battery saver message and all but the driver's door cannot be locked/unlocked from the outside. I have had the battery checked and replaced, but the problem did not go away. I bought an AC battery charger (Battery Tender) that plugs into my cigarette plug. I keep it on the charger when I am at home. It is a pain since I have to roll down a window to plug it in, but I do not want to get stuck somewhere. I have the first electric Edge!
