Chipster
So am I reading this right, I've got no issue now, but have up to 15 years of coverage should the rear view view camera fail. Right? Do I need to get it inspected if I don't currently have an issue? I don't think so but... How many of you needed to have the rear view camera replaced on your Edge? 1004ron
I have the same recall and my camera fails intermittently. I've been trying to get hold of the service manager to hopefully get the camera and do the change myself. I don't think there's a time limit on getting the recall done.
enigma-2
No way. They will only provide the camera to an authorized Ford dealer to install. (Besides, it won't cost you anything; let them do it.) As its intermittent, it may not qualify under 25S89. (Has to be dead of distorted - all the time.) As it's intermittent, I'd suspect green crusties at the camera connector.
edjunior
Well, I finally decided to get my Edge in for service. I had a TPMS fail on it, and was getting nagged by the dealer that the oil change is due. I also had this outstanding recall, full thing was Safety Recall Notice 25S89/NHTSA Recall 25V572. On the write-up from the dealer, it said "Scanned for codes, found code C1001:01 in the APIM", and then a bunch of stuff for diagnosing and fixing it. Basically, they ended up replacing the rear camera. I had a couple of issues with the camera in the past. Once it went black on my, and after I got it home, I tried it again, and it was all pixelated. But then it was fine for a while. It did it another time or two, so that's why I decided to get it in to the dealer. I also had the TPMS replaced, and the struts on the engine hood replaced. They were both dead. Too much money, but at least it's all done. Of course due to the miles, a few other items were recommended (various fluid flushes, cabin filter, and decarb the engine. But I figured I gave 'em enough for one trip. Anyway, all is well, and just wanted to pass on the result of my rear camera recall experience. They had my Edge for 2 days and came to my house, picked it up, and brought it back to me. All is well in the world again!
