  1. Back in 1995, I bought a new Explorer XLT. Had trans filter replaced Along with fluid change every 60,000 miles. Sold it back in '02 to friends for their daughter with 140,000+ on it, and she's still driving it today. What it boils down to, is that I stricktly followed maintenance as per the owners manual, and it paid off. Still the original trans with no problems. Also had cooling system flushed every 60K, and all fine there, too.
  2. :yup: Without a doubt, # 2 is the way to go, but then again, it's your car, go for what you like best.
  3. My brain just clicked back on. When we first got my wife's MKS, got ink on the seat, just about SH#$ my pants. Went to the dealer, they said to get baby wipes, and it worked. Might want to give it a shot.
  4. From today's Newark Star Ledger (New Jersey newspaper). J.D. Powers and associates top 10, and worse 5 automobiles Top 10 1. Lincoln :yup: 2. Lexus 3. Jaguar 4. Porsche 5. Toyota 6, Acura 7. Buick 8. Mercedes-Benz 9. Cadillac 10. Hyundai 5 Worse 30. Chrysler 31. Dodge 32. Land Rover 33. Jeep 34. Mini
  5. Can you really justify your comparison of the Edge to your mom;s Audi Q7 ? The Audi starts out at almost $ 20K more than the Edge. At least choose a Lincoln MKX for a comparison ! Do you own an Edge, or just doing a comparison by looking at the dealership, or taking a quick test drive?
  6. Our Lincoln Dealership said every 7,500 miles is what Lincoln goes by.
  7. Your post is very vague, what do you need help with ?
  8. I'd definately get back to the dealer with this problem, have them give you a loaner too.
  9. I've been using Lexol products, both leather cleaner and conditioner products. I would be careful in using products that are not intended for leather products. I wash our cars weekly, and part of my ritual, is to go over the front seats using Maguires leather wipes. Helps keeping the seats clean. Joe
  10. Whatwas the reason for the radio antenna replqacement? My wife's 09 MKs has started to give poor FM reception. It is very fuzzy, as if you were not tuned in properly. Was fine until a week or two ago. Joe
  11. If you can't get the carper cleaned, using oxi clean as Edgieguy suggested, your next choice is to go to an auto supply store (Pep boys, Strauss, Auto Zone), and get a spray can of carpet dye, comes in many colors. This should do the trick for you.
  12. Would love to see a "touring" model, or at least the ecoboost option, as long as I could have it in AWD. The new Explorer will be offering ecoboost, but only in FWD form. Tired of my '06 Explorer Limited, only 51,000 miles on it, but what the heck, you only pass through once ! Was at Maplecrest Ford/Lincoln today for a oil change on the Explorer, saw a nice Edge Sport in black, but no BAMR.
  13. Have your dealer give you a new battery, and check out the charging system. Years ago, I had a Taurus, that had the battery go completely dead within 2 months, and that was a car that was used every day ! Got a new battery, and had no more problems. If you suspect gremlins in your garage, go to Home Depot and get the spray called Gremlin-Rid, eliminates those pesky critters  .
  14. A friend has a 2 year old Lexus RX350, and he's getting clobbered with regular maintenance. Oil change and tire rotation just ran him $160 ! They also told him that he will need new brakes ( possible @ 30,000 miles ), to the tune of $1,200 !
  15. Having light beige interior in my wife's MKS, I use Lexol products -one being a leather cleaner, and the other is a leather conditioner. I've used them for years, and have been very satisfied. As far as your carpets, I use Reslove carpet cleaner, and a bristle brush, to scub out the dirt. My advise is to get a good set of rubber floor mats, Weathertech has some nice products, and Ford also carries them. Carpeted mats are nicer looking, but a real pain to keep clean. What I do for our messy winter months here is Jersey, is to get a cheaper brand of carpeted mats from the auto store, and put them on top of the regular mats. Don't be afraid to go with a deeper shade than the tan, helps hide the dirt. :happy feet: Hurray to your husband on his thinking, I always try and buy AMERICAN products - support the good old USA. True, Nissan is made in Tennessee, but who gets the profits ???? They guys who hit Pearl Harbor !
  16. Luv the look of the Edge sport, but for those of us ae considering an MKX, why not offer a sport model to include the lower body panels to be painted, just like on the Edge Sport. The MKX has some extra "goodies" the Edge does not offer, and I really like the X's rear end. Anyone out there feel the same ? :shades:
  17. Mothers back to black works very nicely for me.
  18. No more downloading to a hard drive as in the past. This is holding me from going for a Edge or MKX for now. Mayve they will go back to Old school, and give those of us that want it, hard drive options. My wife's 09 MKS has the hqrd drive, and we love it. You can download an entire CD in about 8 minutes, can crate playlists, whatever you like. I don't want to have to download cd's to a mp3 player or stick !
  19. Congrats on your new Edge. What dealership did you get it at? We use Maplecrest for the MKS, will use them for my nedt purchase - Edge or MKX. Have bought nat Tom's Ford (Keyport) in the past.
  20. :hyper: It might look like every other White Edge Sport, BUT IT'S YOURS ! ! !
  21. :hyper: SWEET ride, even better than a candy bar................................congrats, enjoy !
  22. :happy feet: Glad you bought what you did :hyper: happy motoring ! I've owned mostly FMC products , all have been great !
  23. I had a rear bearing go on my '06 Explorer Limited @ 47,000 miles, thank god for the extended warranty. Service tech said it was "those damn Jap parts" ! ????
  24. Looks great, a good idea to cut out the slits in the plastic!
