    hello

Welcome aboard, a great site, hope you find it helpful. Joe
  2. Good question, I would hope that it would include Canadian vehicles, too.
  3. Problems like this are what is keeping me from going for a new MKX. My '06 Explorer Limited runs GREAT, only 48K, might keep in through the winter, and hopefully, problems will be ironed out by then. True, only a small number in this forum are reporting problems, but how many buyers of '11 Edge's and MKX's are on this forum? Am going to a '11 Explorer preview next week at Maplecrest FLM, will ask the rep if a fix is near for these problems. Joe :shades:
  4. Personally, I would look into the clear film vs a bra. Had one years ago, on my '93 SHO (black), and wind buffeting created marks in the paint, had it on real tight, but they do loosen up. I've seen cars with the film on them, and you can see a slight change where the film ends on the paint, but in my opinion, rather see that then what the bra can do to the paint. The best on your decision. Joe :shades:
  5. This is EXACTLY what's holding me back from ordering a new MKX. My '06 Explorer Limited runs great, no problems at all, just tired of it, want a new toy. What I don't want is a new toy with headaches
  6. :happy feet: Glad to hear the dealer repladed them for you. Heck, it's still a new car, should be covered under the corrosion warranty.
  7. Makes me think I should hold off a bit before ordering the MKX. My wife's '09 MKS has been great since day 1. One thing I will miss, is not having the built ninn hard drive to "load down" CD's. Some of the CD's did not have gracenotes, am able to manually add album titles/songs/artisits with the MKS. Oh well, modern technology can bite us in the ass!
  8. :stats: SWEET ride, the white looks great. How is the dealership? Have a friend inn Sayreville, could send him down there. Joe
  9. Hey Count, Get the hell out of the Warranty Solutions, and get into a Ford Certified program. Took the Ford / Lincoln Premium Care on my wife's MKS when we got it, for a total of 7 years/ 100,000 miles. If I remember correctly, I think it ran close to $2,000. It is bumper to bumper, with $100 deducable, well worth it, as I have used it on my 06 Explorer, was a smart choice with that car too. Heck, all the electronics on cars today can get VERY expensive in repairs. We took the tire and rim package too. When presented to us, it was quoted as $750. I said no thanks, and next thing I knew, he brought the price down to $500, so I took it, figured 1 blown rim might run that much. Joe
  10. :hyper: Welcome aboard, I'm sure you can help many with questions. One in particular for me - can you download cd's to a jukebox, as in the MKS? I'm not big into memory sticks. Have tons of Polka cd's loaded into the MKS, can plkay whatever I want to. Thx Joe
  11. When we got my wife's '09 MKS, oil changes were every 7,500 miles, and the 1st 2 were free. The dealership had me bring it in at 2,000 miles for a oil change, to get out all "loose particles" from the new engine, which they did at no charge also. Heck, I remember years ago, it was normal practice to do the1st oil change at 1,000 miles. Even with the MKS, I'm having the oil changed every 5,000 miles vs 7,500. The service tech said that this is a smart decision. Remember, a clean engine is a happt engine ! :yup: Joe
  12. Saw a preview of the '11 Explorer tonight, pretty sharp, but dissapointed you can no longer play CD's or download to a hard drive. Really considering a MKX, but do not know if you can play cd's or download to a hard drive, as in my wife's on MKS. I really like the capability of downloading the cd's to the hard drive, I am not the type to download to memory sticks. Does anyone know if the '11 MKX's have the option of downloading CD's ?, Thanks, Joe
  13. :yup: SMart decision, ENJOY your new set of wheels. Yes, 16K is way too many miles for a 3 month old car. Heck, that would come to 64K a year. Where the hell did they drive too ?
  14. Give it a shot, not much to loose, right.?
  15. Is your car garaged, and enough room to wax it inside? Last year, I bought a heater that hooks up to propane, had the temp up to 71 F, whenit was 21 F outside. I too, DO NOT use car washes, UNLESS it it a hand wash place. Found a place nearby, that does a hand wash, using mits, NO BRUSHES.
  16. Hang in there, if you service dept is on the ball, they will resolve your problems. When we got my wife's 09 MKS, there were a few issues that the dealer resolved for us. Have my eye on the MKX, have a 06 Explorer Limited, totally loaded out. If I can get a decent trade, or private sale, I'll do it now, if not, I'll drive it throught the messy Jersey winter !
  17. Go for the extended warranty, well worth it. In the past 3 months, I've had my 06 Explorer limited in for 3 different electronic problems - Electronic climate control, module for memory pedals, power lumbar motor, and rear wheel bearing and axle shaft. A friends cousin just had left rear wheel bearing and shaft repaired, cost her $2,000! With all the electronics, go for the extended warranty, unless of course, you don't plan to keep the car beyond the standard 3/36 warranty. I'm sure glad I took it out on the Explorer, back then I took out the extension for a total of 6 years/ 75,000 miles, and it cost $1,200, and worth every penny.
  18. Thanks Rich, will have to see if the dealer let me do a private sale as a trade, to save the sales tax. Here in New Jersey, we have 7% sales tax, not too bad, but enough to add 3K + on a new car. I considered a Edge Limited, but I like 10 way power on both front seats, along with power lumbar, and power tilt/telescopic wheel with memory. Also power mirrors with memory on both sides is a +, my wife and I have 2 totally different positions with seats and mirrors. You go through life once, why not get spoiled a bit ! :yup:
  19. Maybe the Cayenne won, what about it's hefty price tag ?
  20. GREAT going, Rich, I have to get down to the dealerr to get down to business. Also have to see what my totally loaded out 06 Explorer Limited (MSRP $42,995) is worth. Spoke with a friend that a repair shop in town, sells a lot of customers cars, feels that I chould have no problem selling mine for $17,000. If I trade it in, and can get 15K+, that helps offset sales tax by trading it in. Did you buy going through Costco, or mjust because you are a Costco member? I am leaning toward Ingot Silver with black, or else White Platinum. The Explorer is Dark Stone, a real sharp color, and the wife's MKS is cinnamon, 2 dark colors rough to keep clean. Happy motoring. Joe
  21. Does anyone know if the MKX website offers the additional $750 rebate?
  22. Hey Rich, Happy motoring with the new wheels, GREAT choice. My wife has her MKS for 2 years already, and we love it as much as the first day. I have a 06 Explorer Limited, every available option ( V8, nav, 7 pass, rear DVD, moonroof, the works. Am curious what current value is, as 5 years ago, it stickered at $42,995. I just turned 48k in mileage, am hoping to see around 15-16K for it. I too, have my eye on the MKX, still want the ability to carry larger objects, not just a car. It's still nice to have vehicle in the family with AWD, as Jersey winter, can be tough. If I'm not too nosey, about how much below sticker did you pay for the X ? Joe
  23. I'vd splved the excess water problem years ago, before any one came out with blowers. I have a Husqvarna backpack leaf blower, that I have ben using for years to get off most water after washing the car. I initially start with mouldings around the windows, and exterior mirrors, then the entire car. After this, I go over the entire car with a soft bath towel. I don't know for sure but maybe a high powered electric leqf blower might do the trick. Remember, Home Depot takes back purchases within 30 days. You can buy a blower, and if not satisfied, return it !
  24. Had a similar problem with my wife's MKS. Turned out that certain phones work better with SYNC than others. Go to SYNCMYRIDE.COM, there is a list of phones, by carrier (provider), that work the best. We switched from one model LG to another, all has been fine since. LOL with this
  25. Are we from Ohio?
