Factory Code & Keyless entry
richy replied to Uncle Buck's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Akirby's advice is good. I think I remember reading that the code is either on the inside of the fuse cover or somewhere under the hood. I will see if I can find the info. Here ya go; http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6723-factory-code-for-keyless-entry/page__p__53721__hl__%2Bfactory+%2B__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=53721 -
This whole issue confuses me. I never did anything and my presets never changed nor did the voice commands change the station they went to. I wonder why others have had problems?

I agree with Sandpiper. I close it from about a foot above and have never had any issues.

I bought a big one and a little one. I found they were more of a pain than they were worth. I haven't used them since. -
Voice Command Buton No Longer Works
richy replied to MokeyJoe's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I had that happen prior to the last update on Sync I did. The update fixed it. The button won't actually work until the car has been running for about 30 seconds I find. And I thought I was slow in the morning!?! -

My pleasure. Let me know what you end up getting. I ordered some more Colli Metal Wax, the CQ kit and 10 extra CQ suede mf's. -
Forgive me if someone else had already discovered this and posted it. The other day I had started driving my 11 MKX down the road and pushed the voice command button and told it to "phone home". It responded that Sync had been unable to pair the phone and was looking for previously paired phones with which to connect. I looked at the screen and sure enough "no phone connected" was showing. In the past, this had always meant that I would at a minimum have to shut off the car and restart it or delete the phone and re-pair it. I am using an Iphone4. Well, what happened next was a pleasant surprise and why I am posting this thread. The message stopped and the phone paired and I was immediately able to make a call. I did not think much of it and thought that maybe I got lucky. Twice since then I have started driving only to observe the phone not paired again. It rarely ever happened before. So, I just hit the voice command and told it to make a call and I got the same message about trying to pair to a previously connected phone. Then, just like before, it paired it. So, for a total of 3 times, having viewed the non-connected phone message, I was able to use the voice command button to pair it by asking it to make a call. I'm assuming it's going to work this way for me all the time now if I have that problem. I have not updated sync in a few months and the sync site says I'm running version 2.4. I hope this helps someone else from having to re-pair their phone unnecessarily.

The WD 40 thing sounds interesting. I would coat the front end in 2 coats of Collinite 845 wax. When you get to wherever you're going, spray the bugs with a spray bottle of Zep Citrus which is an APC available at Home Depot for about $12/gallon. Dilute it 4:1. Let it dwell for less than 5 minutes and then power wash off. Yes, I know it says not to use on paint. I've been doing it for years. A bug sponge like what you can get at Autogeek is also very helpful. I have put my ONR directly on it (straight) and rubbed them off that way too. A bug sponge is a must have in my books!!

Chris, I see you've got few products from different places. I would suggest the following. If you buy from Autogeek, they have a 15% off and free shipping deal if you buy before Friday. Actually DI has a similar deal with $4.99 shipping but no minimum. I think you'll go over the $95 minimum if you follow my advice. Their customer service is great too and they also sell CQuartz. (use the code MEMORIALDAY) To start, make sure your bucket has a grit guard. You should use 2 buckets (one wash and one to rinse out wash media after each panel): http://www.autogeek.net/gg1010.html After that, I would suggest Duragloss 901 soap..it's fantastic stuff. Better deal by the gallon: http://www.autogeek....gloss-wash.html Now, for claybar lube, I would suggest you buy the ONR rinseless wash and mix up a spray bottle of it at claylube strength. This gives double duty out of an amazing product that you can use when the car is just dusty or a little dirty and you don't need the whole production of hose/soap/rinse/dry, etc. I have yet to convert anyone to anything but an ONR fanatic when they try it: http://www.autogeek....noriwash12.html Here's a whole page of clay bars to choose from: http://www.autogeek.net/clbaandlu.html Now, for polish, are you looking to use a Random Orbital polisher or do it by hand? If by hand, I suggest Duragloss 501 which is labelled as a Marine polish, but it has great cleaning abilities. Also, if you top this with Collinite 845 wax, you have a killer protection that is only beaten by either CQuartz or Opti Coat. The 501 is a sealant as well as a cleaner. It's a fantastic product. Here's a Corvette I detailed using DG 501 and 845 as the last 2 steps: http://www.live2deta...read.php?t=1758 here's the 501 link: http://www.autogeek....olish--501.html Here's Collinite. You won't find a better wax: http://www.autogeek....or-wax-845.html By the way, if you want a great metal polish for chrome, stainless or whatever that has great protection as well, Colli's metal wax rocks: http://www.autogeek....-metal-wax.html Now, if you want to use CQuartz or Opti Coat, you cannot use the 501 or Collinite 845. You would need to polish via random orbital with a polish. I suggest Meguiars 205 if you just need to amp up the shine, or 105 if you need defect removal. If you want to go this way, let me know and I can steer you in the right direction for polishers, etc. I am always on the Live2Detail site as I am a moderator there. It is a great site for detailers that is not sponsored by any manufacturers. A few guys from here have signed up. Either way with the CQ or the 501/Colli combo, your car will have great protection! Hope that helps. -
I guess I'm in no rush to do this update! Thanks for the info.

Your timing is great. I just did my first oil change 2 days ago and used this AMSOIL product which was the top rated one in the product lookup guide: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asm.aspx As of this time, they do not have an EA filter available for it, neither for the MKX nor for the Mustang. I will switch to the EA filter when it comes out. That's all I ran in my Infiniti. For the time being, I'm using a WIX filter (#57502) and will replace it every 6 months and just top up the oil at the 6 month mark. The 0W20 will go a year or 40,000km (25,000 miles) before needing to be changed. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=57502

My memory seat tried to kill me
richy replied to wilsons66604's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Dude, that is very funny!! -
I did not update my Sirius channels. I heard them saying they were going to change them, but my presets still go to the same presets. I have not updated to 2.8. My voice commands still take me to Lithium or whatever channel I tell it. Maybe a 2.8 bug??

Speed is a huge factor in gas mileage!! Flat terrain is very relevant too.
-
I changed my oil to Amsoil today so I found the oil life no problem, but then re-setting it involves going to a different section altogether. Still using the left menu though.

Cleaning Tar of 2011 White Platinum
richy replied to ahammet's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Gasoline is a solvent too. Just make damned sure it gets washed well after. But it will work. Tarminator is probably safer on paint. -

I completely concur! I love Tarminator so much, I bought a 5 gal pail of it! -
LFMAO!!!! You didn't name it Carrie, did you? I'm not trying to make light of your situation...believe me, I'd be pissed off too.
-
Ease the pain, or exacerbate it!! Congrats on your order. The good news is they keep improving the vehicle even during this year.
-
Stoner's Tarminator will get the undercoating off. Follow up with a soft clay bar. Use Duragloss 501 either by hand or a medium pad on a DA and your white paint will jump and glow. DG 501 is incredible on white paint! I would not trust the dealer to do another damned thing to it personally. They've already proven they're inept.

That's great news about the speedier button response time, especially for the seat heaters which were the worse for delay.

Waldo, thanks for sharing that man! That's great news.
