CAVEAT EMPTOR....Unfortunately you've signed a legal document. They are under no obligation to release you from the last 2 items, which is nothing but pure profit for them. Hopefully you will be able to switch from the one warranty to the other, but your chances of negotiating a better price on it isn't great...try your best to obviously. I had priced out an alternative warranty that the business manager "assured" me was as good as the Ford one. I checked with a service writer who had been there 17 years and she said it wasn't nearly as good since it required out of town authorization for any work or loaner cars which often added delays to the process whereas the Ford warranty could be authorized on the spot. I went with the Ford one. I wish you well. I would try to make an appointment with the dealer principle himself and appeal to him with your marriage situation. Good luck bud!

I ordered my MKX on Sep 30 and I got the VIN# from the dealer a few days ago. It's being built this week. I'm hoping to have it mid month. (I dealt with the sales manager, not a salesman...go up the food chain till you get the VIN; they WILL have it)

What a rude awakening! Did it seem like the sound was coming from the engine? -
Thanks Wilson. I had read that in the manual and was going to share it. I'm switching to Amsoil for my first oil change.

I took a CD with me on the test drive to test the stereo. (Tchaikovsky's 1812 with digital canons) It is a single CD player. I don't remember reading it could download them, but I'm not sure.

I was able to knock the dealer down almost $700 for a 7 year plan. It is still expensive as Hell. At least this way I can roll it into the payment.

I read so many lousy things about the SRX, I did not even drive one. Will they take it back or do you have to trade it and take a hit?

The remote start icon would have you believe that all you have to do is press the button twice. That's not it. What you have to do is: 1) Press the lock button once 2) (within 3 seconds) Press the start button 3) (within 3 seconds) Press the start button a 2nd time. Hope that helps. Congrats on your new ride. Did you get cooled seats? That would be sweet in Florida! I have an MKX on order with that option; I can't wait to try them out.

Congrats on your purchase! I ordered an MKX at the end of September and the dealer is telling me it's due mid November as well. Did you see where the Edge won the 2010 Canadian AJAC award for its class? I posted that on this forum yesterday. You're even closer to the factory than I am! I tried to see if I could get in there to see it being built but was told no. Bummer.

Having grown up in the car business (my father was a GM dealer for 25 years) I can tell you there is probably a lot of truth to that!! -
It looks great. Are you going to tint those front windows? That would be the final touch.

Tony, Please allow me to chime in here as well. In my case, I left left explicit instructions NOT to touch it. They can fill it with gas like they are supposed to do, but other than that...nothing. Now, in my case, the vehicle is black. Also, like Canuck, I am a professional detailer. The last thing I want to have to do is correct swirls on my brand new paint job. I have a chemical that removes metallic fallout and then I am going to give the paint a one step jeweling polish and then seal the paint with a new product, a nano coat glass finish. I plan to spend in the area of 10 to 12 hours on it. I admit I am excessive (and obsessive?) about it. Depending on how obsessive you are with your paint, you can choose whether you want to do all that work or have the dealer prep and clean it for you. If the car is white or silver, the faults are much harder to see and you'll be safer. Hope that made sense. -

That's cool to hear. I am coming out of an Infiniti FX35. -

Here's what the future may hold if Ford continues to put so much Microsoft software in their cars: 1. For no reason at all, your car would crash twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally, executing a manoeuver such as a left-turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, and you would have to reinstall the engine. 4. When your car died on the freeway for no reason, you would just accept this, restart and drive on. 5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought 'Car95' or 'CarNT', and then added more seats. 6. Apple would make a car powered by the sun, reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would run on only five per cent of the roads. 7. Oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single 'general car default' warning light. 8. New seats would force every-one to have the same size butt. 9. The airbag would say 'Are you sure?' before going off. 10. Occasionally, for no reason, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key, and grabbed the radio antenna. 11. Ford would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of road maps from Rand-McNally (a subsidiary of GM), even though they neither need them nor want them. Trying to delete this option would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50 per cent or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Department. 12. Every time Ford introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 13. You would press the 'start' button to shut off the engine. -
Hmmm, don't know where you're from, but in Ontario, I was able to order an 11 MKX and get the incentive that was offered at the time. I actually get the choice of what was offered in September or what will be current when it comes in (about 2 weeks time). As far as the trade goes, try to sell it on your own, then put it through the dealer as a trade through. It will save you taxes. At least it works that way in Ontario.

That is a scary design flaw. I hope they fixed that for 2011. I wash my vehicle all the time. I will have to keep an eye on this. Thanks for posting.

Did it come that way from the dealer? If so, get them to fix it. That's unacceptable delivery condition if you ask me. As far as the scratch goes, if you can feel it with your finger nail, it is too deep to buff out. Dr. Chip has a nice kit for filling in scratches and chips and it is available online. Google it for retailers. I can provide links if it interests you. I bought it for my Infiniti. If the scratch is barely noticeable, get some 3M finishing compound and do it by hand with a micro fiber cloth. Go perpendicular to the scratch. Shoot a pic and post it if you can, I can give better advice if I see what you're dealing with. -
AJAC which is a non profit, unbiased group of Automobile Journalists run a rigorous test every year for new models for the Canadian Car of the Year. There are winners in several different subcategories. The Edge won this year for the Under $50,000 SUV category. Here is a link to the findings: http://www.driving.ca/windsor/Canadian+Year+winners/3746296/story.html

I don't know the answer, but read the manual specifically about the mykey section. That may have something to do with it. There are features you can turn on and off.
-
Being the nerd I am, I've been reading the owner's manual online and noticed about pushing the lock button first. It's misleading on the remote: the icon just shows to push it twice.

Yes, deplorable was too strong a word. Yes, recalls seem to be a way of life. I just don't like seeing anything go wrong with them.
-
Welcome. I'm new here myself. I've got an 11 MKX on order. Congrats on your new ride!
-
Holy Moley, you're damned lucky it was not stolen. (Thieves probably thought it was a setup, LOL). Any push button start system requires you to push the button to shut off the engine when parked. It's just a convenience item that replaces inserting your key. The key fob will start it but even that it will shut off after so many minutes. There is no key fob button to stop the engine.

There are differing degrees of aggressiveness on clay. Like Canuck states, proper clay lube is NB. If you use a mild clay with proper lube, you will not have a problem at all. You will do more damage to your paint with improper washing techniques than clay can ever do. Use a 2 bucket method and a grit guard and a proper mf drying towel and you will protect your paint well. -
Wow, I haven't even received my MKX yet, and ALREADY it's involved in a recall? You GOTTA be kidding!!! Only 71 vehicles involved in the recall, but still, the message it sends is deplorable!! http://www.thecarconnection.com/marty-blog/1050969_2011-lincoln-mkx-ford-edge-in-first-recall
