  1. Just a guess, but I would imagine those could be 'extras' for the premium sound system that included an aux input (in the console) and a powered sub. But like a said, just a guess.
  2. I would just take them off. Are they decals or raised double sided tape emblems? Either way, I'd still remove them.
  3. Maybe Ford will take note of the new Lexus RX...the wiper is tucked under the rear spoiler. I don't use the rear wiper and wish it could be removed altogether; without looking like it's been removed...
  4. Basically, it's the Limited version of it's introductory year (2007). 2008 models to present had SE, SEL, and SEL Limited (no Plus) and Sport added recently. What color did you get? 2007 was also the only year they made the Carbon Metallic, so I'll consider mine the Collector's version...my Plus has everything less the nav and dvd. Enjoy your Edge; I've enjoyed all 60k+ miles of my 2007!
  5. I turned over 60k miles last week (bye bye warranty) and have had no mechanical problems like what you listed. the major leak you referenced was primarily on AWD and was a PTU issue (not present on FWD). I did experience the odd transmission jolt-like shifts early on (<10k miles) but those mysteriously disappeared and haven't happened since.
  6. What humming noise? Can you give some specifics of what you bought (SE, SEL, SEL+, FWD, AWD, etc)? And any specifics about the noise? I've had an '07 SEL+ FWD since it was new but I don't recall any humming noises.
  7. You're not the first to ask. I searched a couple popular auto parts sites but apparently no one has developed one yet. They had them for 2010 models but not 2011s.
  8. Your best bet would be a dealer. I'm not sure what else to suggest. Did you buy it from an individual, used car lot, or dealer? It be nice if you could get some history on it. There is a link in a post that will allow you to pull the original window sticker using your VIN. That may tell you if you have the same head unit as when new. Since you don't have the 6 disc changer, I'm assuming you don't have the premium audiophile system with the sub in the back. the window sticker would list that if you did. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
  9. I would be guessing at this point (disclaimer). Question, do you have the puddlelamps on the bottom side of the mirrors, and if so, do they work? There is a fuse for 'backlighting, puddlelamps". The radio has 2 fuses, so maybe one of those controls the steering controls for the radio and it's backlight???
  10. The story of a pot and a kettle come to mind about now...
  11. Okay, that means you have the single disc unit which (for all else) functions just the same (if properly equipped). You might try checking fuses if you haven't already. Oh, and as for the satellite radio, I'm guessing the subscription has probably lapsed, but if you press the AUX button to SAT1 (or 2 or 3), it will give you a screen message to call SIRIUS and display a phone number as well. You just have to watch a few seconds for it to display everything.
  12. I have an '07 SEL+. Your buttons on the radio should look like the diagram below. Also, you toggle through the AUX button for LINE IN, SAT1, SAT2, and SAT3 (if equipped).
  13. Only 16 mpg...you do a lot of stop and go driving (and stop and go fast driving)? I was averaging 16.5 for a while and then decided to 'ease up' off the gas pedal some. It improved to close to 18.5 and I'm mostly around town for my daily commute. It's some stop and go with a few 45+ mph stretches (26 miles one way) and the occasional 0 to the speed limit+ as quick as it will go.
  14. I've used the Meguirs (white) clay bar kit on my Carbon Metallic (a really dark gray); That was the first time I had ever used a clay bar. I couldn't believe how smooth the finish was afterwards. No problems here.
  15. I know I'm a little late, but while we're sharing, I went with the Toyo Open Country HTs. I was a little skeptical at first, but I have Toyo Versados on my wife's van and they road great. I was afraid the Open Country would be too truck like, but they been a really good tire. i'll probably go with these again. I also agree that the Michelin LTX M/S is one of the best tires ever made. That was my preferred choice for my late F150 and Explorer.
  16. Personally, and this is just my opinion so fire away, but I prefer the location of the '07 hatch release. I don't like the 'corrected' version of the '08 to present. Maybe it's because I'm 6'4" but I've had no issues with opening the rear hatch. Even if it was a little difficult, I'd still rather have that version than the current 'hole' in the gate.
  17. '07 Carbon Metallic matches too, at least mine does...I'll have to start looking closer at other Edges. Starting to see more and more of them on the road now.
  18. Well, my replacement rear spoiler gasket came loose again. I'm outside the warranty now; the gasket wasn't even touching the glass; so it obviously wasn't sealing anything; so I just pulled the unsightly gasket off. So far, so good!
  19. Yep, my '07 looks the same way. Just one of those minor annoyances that you learn to live with...
  20. I also drive around town with the O/D off; and have been for quite a while. As you stated, no hesitation; actually much better throttle response. I've noticed that it holds the gear slightly longer which is nice when you have to let off the gas slightly and then get back on it again. (With O/D on, it would shift up and then hesitate to shift back down again and would just feel awkward.) I've always felt the Edge was fun to drive, but when I started turning the O/D off, it's even more fun!
  21. It's an old post, but here is a thread that had them, but sounds like it was a rip off. There are some links within these threads - buyer beware: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2856 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2859 I do like the look as well so if you do run across them from someone else, please let us know.
  22. Thanks for the tips. As for the wiring, I had it done by a local trailer and hitch shop. At the time, there was no wiring harness available (it was Summer of '07; the Edge was still new to aftermarket accessories), but DrawTite had one in the works. They did have to run a lead to the battery, I do know that. Thanks again, and enjoy that hitch. It's been a life saver many of times for either my utility trailer or cargo basket.
  23. DD 430: do you have a picture of the 'second reason' using the 'special pin'??? I have a Draw Tite that looks just like this HH and has the 2 holes in the recevier (one larger than the other) and the rattle/slop does getting get old quick and I would be interested in this setup you are referring to to eliminate all that... Thanks, is this it?
  24. Do you have the 18" chrome clad wheels? That has been a source of the creaking that you describe but I have never experienced that.
