The testing is just trying to figure out what Siri is restricting or not and whether there is a bug that causes previously allowed commands to suddenly not be allowed. This is 100% apple. If you want to continue to debate whether it's being controlled by apple or Ford then we should start a new thread.

easy exit easy entry seat position

Page 98 is just the beginning of the section - if you go to page 105 or so it very clearly shows you the setting for easy/entry/exit. My guess is you're not on the main menu on the left hand screen - hit the left button until you see Settings, then select Vehicle and easy/entry/exit. -
The restrictions have nothing to do with logic and everything to do with lawsuit avoidance. Blame the chick who spilled hot coffee on herself and sued Mickey D's and won. Also - not allowing you to do something via voice command is not "forcing" you to look at your phone. You should not be looking at your phone for anything while driving. Siri knows you connected to it from a car because the car is using the eyes free bluetooth interface. When you send commands via that interface Siri has programmed restrictions - that's not coming from the car. All the car does is pass the commands and responses back and forth. Now if you want to explain where I was wrong I'm listening.

That's where selectshift comes in handy - downshift before you pull out to pass.

And should be explained in the owner's manual. -

Can't remember seeing anything exactly like that. Sounds like the software was corrupted. Dealer can reload it or they may have to replace the APIM. -

That is not a windows operating system. -
So the fact that Siri says "can't do that while you're in the car" isn't proof enough?

Tail light Condensation
akirby replied to d0minicano's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Probably not but without knowing whether it was a defective batch of parts or a design issue it's hard to say for sure. Either way I'm sure it will be corrected soon. -
I tested it yesterday. First time it behaved exactly like Tacyon posted including the phrase Siri used (Sorry I can't do that while you're in the car). Once I asked her to open pandora I was locked out. But the second time I did it - after reconnecting my iphone - the message changed to "Sorry Kirbster I can't do that while you're in the car" but then I was able to continue texting and getting weather reports. More testing required.

Yes they do now but not on a 2011 model.

If it was just a bad batch from the supplier then the part number would be the same. If they changed the design then it should have a new part number. -
If the dealer gets any allocation at all they should be able to fill a retail order. Allocation is tricky and much debated but generally it is based on prior sales history. The more you sell the more you get generally speaking.

The pressure on the sidewall is the MAX pressure not the recommended pressure. Fusion 19s are 35 or 37 - forgot exactly - but not 43. It's whatever is printed on the door jamb.

Ford does not reimburse dealers for loaners or rentals under the standard Ford warranty unless you purchased an ESP. So it's completely up to the dealer. Lincoln OTOH does provide a Lincoln loaner for warranty work for 4 yrs/50K miles.

Depends on what you want to do with it I guess. I'm also an IT professional (29 years) and I find apple devices work perfectly fine for me 99% of the time. Then again I typically only use them for basic functionality.

BTW - I'm pretty sure Ford's efforts with applink and other features were torpedoed by all of the MFT and apim problems. The new platform shouldn't have those limitations but it's understandable for anyone to be skeptical. You also have to realize that 99.9% of the buying public probably wouldn't consider those types of features as deal breakers.

No confusion - Ford announced last year they were moving to QNX for sync 3. QNX is used by many many mfrs for years now. It's a real time operating system and arguably better for this type of application. It wasn't developed by Blackberry - they just bought it. And it will outlive Blackberry. Sync 3 is QNX with HTML5 rather than windows mobile with flash. It also comes with a new APIM and capacitive touch screen like a smartphone or tablet. Sync 3 is how they're fixing the problems with MFT (and yes it will come with problems of its own like every other piece of software ever written).

That happened to me once a couple of weeks ago - can't remember if it was a text or a phone call. I thought I hit a wrong button somewhere.

Check for a PTU leak - that's part of the AWD system and is prone to leaking.

Shifter must be replaced. I think the total cost from a dealer was around $350 but I'm not positive. I think it's a relatively easy DIY project though. -
When you press the button on the iphone it gets the command from the iphone microphone. It knows you're talking directly to it. When you use Siri eyes free, the commands are sent from MFT via the car microphone over bluetooth to the iphone. The iphone knows it's getting those commands from a car. It works the same way for all vehicles. This function is generic and applies to all vehicle mfrs. So that's why Siri treats it differently. Since SIRI is the one telling you it can't do that (not MFT) and it works this way on multiple vehicles from different mfrs the only logical conclusion is that the restriction is coming from Apple. Now back to your test - if that's true then it sounds like there is a flag in Siri that isn't being reset after it denies the Pandora request. I'll try to test it.

And which software company produces 100% error free code and is 100% transparent about bugs in their code? NOBODY! Not saying Ford is right on any of this but your expectations are unrealistic and your constant rants (too many breadcrumbs???) about it for the last 5 years are tiresome. It is what it is and it's not going to change.

Try replacing the battery. A weak battery can cause all sorts of strange things.
