It depends on whether it was just an error on the website or an error in the data that feeds the website. You don't want the website admin to be able to just make a change on the fly - too dangerous. The fact that it's showing up in 2 places - build and price and the window sticker - tells me the problem exists in another system (maybe more than one) and it will take some time to identify the corrections and implement them. Also consider Ford sells 16 different vehicles in the U.S. with each vehicle having several models and several options and trim levels within each model. Keeping all of the information up to date and correct is not a simple task, thus the need for strict processes and change control.

But in reality that's exactly what it is. You don't expect them to list every new road and POI, do you?
-
That's exactly correct. Mondeo is the same way - it has a lot of MKZ features for the same reason.

Why are Canadian and US options so different?

Because it's simply not worth the hassle. -
It's 3/36 but I don't think they'll replace it unless it tests bad, so it depends on how they're testing it. Ask them to test the CAs or CCAs.

Dealers complain about the F150 options for the same reason. I think there are literally billions of combinations. But when you sell 800K a year you can get away with it. -
The battery light doesn't mean the battery itself is low - it means the charging system (alternator) isn't working. Have the battery checked and make sure they check the cranking amps not just voltage or the old load tester.

I would expect A7 if it's being sold by the dealers already but there's no guarantee.

TOYOTA ADOPTS FORD SMARTDEVICELINK SOFTWARE

It appears to be vehicle and phone platform independent so spotify would work on an iphone in a Ford and an android in a Toyota. Whereas carplay and android auto are proprietary to their phone platforms. -

It would also be a nightmare for dealers to stock all those variations or just to keep track of all the different options. There are very few people who demand those options a la carte so they get by with it. It just makes it harder and more complicated to build and sell with lots of options - ask dealers about the F150. -

But it is a little bit of a chicken and egg question - do Americans really want leather with their heated seats or is that what they buy because they don't have a choice? I think it's probably the former but sometimes it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy if you're not careful. But it does make sense that buying preferences are different. -
Android auto and carplay being added to sync 3

Here is a good source. No 2017 dates yet. http://www.donlen.com/buildstart-trucks-ford.html -

Ford does publish those dates but I don't know if they've published them yet for the 2017 Edge. I'll try to find out from my dealer contact. Also - even if there was a projected date it can and will change. -

The price of the stand alone sync connect option (modem plus data plan) is the best indicator. Doesn't matter anyway - you don't really have a choice. -
Why are Canadian and US options so different?
akirby replied to grumzy's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It's been that way for decades. I remember on the 2000 Lincoln LS you could get heated cloth seats in Canada but not in the U.S. In 2003 you could get a luxury or sport V6 or V8 in Canada but in the U.S. you could only get a v8 Sport or a v6 luxury model. It all comes down to marketing and what they think customers want or are willing to buy. Now whether there really is a difference between Canadians and Americans on heated cloth seats or if that's just an old myth that marketing has continued to perpetuate is anybody's guess. -

I'm sure they get a discount but they're not getting 5 years of data for next to nothing. Maybe if it was 12 months. -

Meaning - somebody is paying AT&T for that data plan and modem whether it's the customer directly or Ford indirectly. -

Oh it's a good deal I just get a little perturbed when people say things are free when they really aren't. -

I think you're talking about sync services. We're talking about sync connect that uses a dedicated 4G LTE cell modem. The cost is for the cellular data plan. -

It's not free - it just means you're paying for 5 years worth of data included in the price of the 2017 model with that option. TANSTAAFL! -
Not necessarily. They change from dealer ordered to in stock when they leave the factory so most of those are probably still in transit if they've actually left the factory.

So you're expecting a lifetime warranty on parts? They call it a limited warranty for a reason. Every part that fails is defective. Do I think they should extend the warranty on this part? Absolutely but I don't think they're required to do that nor do I think that by not extending the warranty they're refusing to take accountability. Did you get the extended warranty when you purchased the vehicle?
