Please tell me they didn't actually pull the head for that diagnosis.

Automatic Highbeams for 2014 Edge?
akirby replied to cclaxton's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Highly doubtful. Since no Edges had auto-dimming the code to do it won't be in the PCM or the controlling module even if you added the sensor. You'd have to go aftermarket if anything. I have that on my 2013 Fusion Titanium and it's probably my favorite feature. -
Makes you wonder if there was some type of damage involved. Have we seen that type of rust in that location on other Edges?
-
Well it could be the timing chain but I agree that's not likely since it stalled, then ran ok for a bit before quitting for good. I still say it could be bad gas. Check with the station where you filled up and see if they've had other complaints. You should not only expect but DEMAND them to show you any damage or failed components.

There is generally no relationship between the maintenance packages that dealers offer and what is actually required. Some dealers still recommend 3K mile oil changes. Go by the manual and tell the dealer what you want done based on what the manual says or whatever you want done. You don't have to buy the packages - they can be loaded with lots of labor for "inspections" and unnecessary services.
-
Until recently only some U.S. Dealers were allowed to do that (select dealers?). They changed it a couple of years ago.
-
Hmmm.... Just filled up the tank yesterday? Could be bad gas. Make sure they check for that. Low compression on one cylinder would not cause it to stop running and not crank.
-
Some dealers are either not allowed to lock in incentives or they don't know how, so don't be shocked if you get the runaround. But it has been done. There was a program number associated with it - you might be able to google it if the dealer plays dumb.

Your dealer.

You have a K&N filter? That must have netted you a huge increase in fuel economy!

I assume nothing has changed, so nothing new to communicate.

2013 FWD 2.0L and removing front rotors
akirby replied to granto's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I don't recall having to do that on previous vehicles, so I also doubt it, but can't say for sure. -
Which helps subsidize other U.S. manufacturing.

Nobody is happy about it. If it was possible to get it done sooner they would. It's costing Ford a lot of money in rentals on top of the repair.

Inconsistent climate / vent temp
akirby replied to Jmsbond007's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Except mine also does it on rainy cloudy 58 degree days. That's why I think it's a sensor problem. -
Neither is Hankook. Just sayin'.......

They go WOT on the dyno before they leave the factory. You don't have to baby it - just vary speeds for the first 500 miles or so (or 1000 if that's what the manual says). That lag is a combination of the automatic transmission and the electronic throttle control. It's not turbo lag.

Inconsistent climate / vent temp
akirby replied to Jmsbond007's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
My daughter refuses to use auto. It drives me nuts. Unless you want air blowing all the time just put it on auto and adjust the temp as needed. If it's hot when the car is first started and I don't want it blowing that strong I just turn up the temp to 78 or so, then turn it back down. Mostly I just leave it around 72. My 2013 Fusion does act flaky and differently than any other Ford auto climate control I've had previously. I know this one has multiple sensors but when I first start the car it tends to blow cold air from the dash vents immediately even when it's colder than 72. If I raise it to 73 it switches to hot air. There is no in between. I'm going to have it checked - I think a sensor may be bad. -
2007 Edge Sound System Upgrade Questions
akirby replied to only126db's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Crutchfield will tell you what fits and what doesn't and they have some adapters. You will need to bypass the factory sub amp to do your own. -
We've beat this horse to death over on blueovalforums for several years now. There is no easy way for Ford to produce a NA Ranger as it currently stands due to chicken taxes and lack of available factory capacity in North America. A good portion of the sales would come from F150 which would do nothing for Ford except lower ATPs and profits. The new Ranger is not nearly as small as the old Ranger. Just like Colorado, it's only about 10% smaller and does not get significantly better fuel economy. It's also on a bespoke platform which makes the cost much higher. Will it bring in some conquest sales? Sure, but probably not enough to overcome the loss of profit of the F150 sales. It might make sense if they could share multiple vehicles on that platform to lower costs and provide enough capacity to add NA manufacturing. What would make more sense is a true small pickup like the original Ranger with much smaller engines that can yield much higher fuel economy at lower cost. That wouldn't intrude too much on F150 sales and would represent almost 100% net volume increases. Similar to what they did with Transit Connect. In fact Transit Connect might make a nice platform for a small truck.

You're not expecting us to feel sorry for you getting a new vehicle every year, do you?
-
It won't take 6 weeks before shipping. Where did you get that? Now that the OK to buy has been given all newly built Edges will ship directly from the assembly line. It might take 2-3 weeks to arrive but there isn't a hold on shipping. That's one reason they wait for OK to buy for sold orders so they don't have to wait.

They're all built in Canada.

Except actual turkey basting.....

Simple - you use a tire pressure gauge which you need to refill the tire anyway. Interestingly the new fords show individual pressures including the new edge.
