  1. I don't expect much until the LA auto show.
  2. Check prices at floodfordesp.com also. I think that's the url. Google it if necessary. You only want the Ford ESP - no 3rd party stuff. In the long run you'll save money by not buying extended warranties. It's a gamble on any specific vehicle. The only time I recommend them is if you're on a fixed income and can't afford an expensive repair but then you need to finance the warranty with the vehicle so you're only paying a few bucks per month. Remember the ESP only kicks in after the factory warranty expires, so a 7 yr/100K ESP only covers the powertrain for 2 yrs/40K miles (after the factory 5/60K). If you're paying $1500 cash, consider putting that in the bank instead and using it to pay for any repairs. At the end of the ESP period you get to keep whatever you didn't spend or use it on other vehicles. Just remember it's a gamble and the odds are not in your favor - just like Vegas.
  3. We're trying to get rid of that nickname! Although it's totally appropriate this week. Welcome! Which part of Atlanta are you from? Your name sounds familiar - have you posted on other forums?
  4. I agree that Ford should extend the warranty on these like they've done on other components. Not sure how they decide whether to extend it or not.
  5. If it's still under warranty get it replaced asap. If it's not under warranty I'd let it slide until it becomes noticeable. Shouldn't affect performance.
  6. There are kits/brands that will retain the steering wheel functions. Do a google search or try searching here.
  7. Point taken, although 2 people agree with me also. However this isn't my opinion. Here is a better analogy. You decide not to renew your auto collision coverage. 2 days later you total your car. Would you expect the insurance company to cover your loss? Warranties are insurance policies.
  8. No word yet other than it should be backwards compatible with previous MFT vehicles.
  9. Being a moderator does not mean that I can't have subjective opinions. We just disagree on whether Ford's position on this matter is reasonable or not.
  10. Without starting another pissing contest (I think everyone knows where we both stand), I'm curious as to why you believe Ford should go out of their way and help financially in this situation. When you buy a used vehicle, Ford doesn't get a dime of revenue (regardless of whether it was purchased at a Ford dealer or somewhere else). It doesn't matter if that used vehicle is sold 10 times, not a dime of it goes to Ford after the initial sale. In fact, by buying a used vehicle instead of a new vehicle you actually deprived Ford of revenue and profits and showed them that you're not as likely to buy a new Ford in the future. Giving assistance to a loyal customer who has purchased new vehicles in the past and is likely to purchase another one in the future is probably a good investment. But I don't understand the logic in being mad at Ford for not covering it in this particular circumstance.
  11. Try rolling up the window holding the button and hold it for a few seconds at the top. Do the same rolling the window down. If that doesn't work repeat but after rolling it up and releasing, hold the up button for a few seconds. Same on the down side.
  12. Welcome! My son lives in Seattle (Ballard area). Awesome city!
  13. What about the Ford owner's website?
  14. Just trying to explain how a business makes these kinds of decisions and why they may decide not to cover something. If you don't agree with it or don't like it that's your perogative.
  15. This was exactly my point, just stated more objectively.
  16. I am very objective when it comes to moderating the forum. This has nothing whatsoever to do with moderation. Being a moderator does not change my personal opinions. I actually moderated myself by removing my more argumentative posts, so there goes that theory.
  17. It doesn't matter whether this is a well known problem or not (with or without a TSB) unless Ford has extended the warranty to cover it. Since they haven't extended the warranty It's up to Ford whether they cover something like this. Having it documented before the warranty expires should help provided that it seems like the same problem and not a new problem. Your dealer is a big part of this and how they present it to Ford. Some fight for you and some just give up and don't try. Hopefully between the dealer and Todd you can get some assistance. Either way you may need to have the transmission pulled and diagnosed before finding out if it will be covered, so be prepared for that.
  18. The NEW MFT will use qnx but sync/MFT uses a Microsoft OS right now. And qnx has NOTHING to do with blackberry - they just bought the company.
  19. Yes, tires can affect mpg. On my old Fusion I lost 1-2 mpg at least going to cheaper softer tires with more rolling resistance compared to the stock michelins.
  20. Yes, a different dealer might get a different result. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice if Ford covered it, and they have done that in the past. So it was already out of warranty when you bought it? Sorry, but the dealer offered you an extended warranty and you chose not to buy it, so it's hard for me to have any sympathy. Look at it this way - you're still $900 ahead.
  21. I just don't understand someone who knowingly decides not to buy the extended warranty and then complains when something isn't covered. You gambled and lost. Alternators and batteries are easy to diagnose and change and not that expensive. Ford used to do AWAs (After Warranty Adjustment) but not much any more. I'd also bet the GM dealer ate part of that repair cost.
