  1. Its not that it buildt up in 100 miles, its that it buildt up sitting on the dealers lot.
  2. Yes you are right to take it in to be checked out. You are wrong that rust cannot cause a vibration. And mild rust will go away after a few stops, but if its built up a while, then the only way to stop the vibration is to either machined the rotors, or take a sanding disc to them. I have seen it many times with cars that sat on our lot for long periods of time. Also, ford will not pay a warranty claim on something like that, it usually gets charged to the new car department and not ford. But like you said they should take it in. And while I may not know how much rust is on the rotors, I can speak from expeirence and not from what the owners manual says. And i'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to help.
  3. Sorry bbf but now you are wrong. Rust build up can and does cause a vibration when braking if it has built up for long enough. Sometimes a few very hard stops will clean the rotors, but not always. If that doesn't work then he needs to take it in to the dealer. They may be able to "deglaze" the rotors or they may need to be turned. I have seen this many times with vehicles that sat on the lot in the same position for a long time. Either way the dealer can fix it and it will be free.
  4. Well i'm glad it worked out then, the motor is fairly cheap. You are lucky you can get just the motor. Alot of the mirrors can only be ordered as an assembly.
  5. The only way to get those white clips back into the motor are to take the boots off the motor, then pop those white clips off the plate, then push the small ends of the clips into the larger ends of the boots. then you pop the clips into the motor and tuck the boots back in around them to seal the motor. Its a pain but can be done. then reattach the plastic ring. That should work assuming its the same set up as most of fords mirrors.
  6. Do you have auto air, If so is it set to auto? that could be normal operation. If not it could be a bad motor, resistor or maybe ground connection.
  7. There is a good chance that it will not work. Not because the attennas are different but because the recievers are different, and the way the reciever plugs into the head unit is different for each company. I have a pioneer in my truck and i have to have a pioneer sirius reciever. They do not plug in with an rca cable, the pioneer uses a square connector. i know there are different ones for kenwood, pioneer and some others. The Edge also has a reciever unit, not just the attena. It still may work but you better investigate further. If you just want to use the attenta and plug that into the reciever, then yes that should work if the connector is the same.
  8. Your dealership is wrong. They do not need ford's authorization to drop, inspect or replace the tank assuming that something is wrong. It is a warranty issue and not something that needs prior authorization. You need to try another dealership, or tell your service manager you want to speak to the area ford rep.
  9. You would have to change the whole instrument cluster.
  10. I'm a ford tech. I don't post often, but I post once in awhile when i can help. To take it off. you pretty much just pry it off and then snap the new one on.
  11. You were very lucky to get instructions. I would say about 90% or more of fords parts do not come with instrctions.
  12. Lex you are right. There will be no instructions included. I believe on those you grab the mirror and pull. But without looking it up i can't be 100% sure of that.
  13. I'm with you on the NHL, but they play very few to no games on sirius. They play most on XM. I wish we could get the NHL games though.
  14. Well I could get you that, but seeing as I'm just a stupid mechanic I just can't figure out how to look it up. Sorry I can't help you!
  15. Ford puts them all on that tight from the factory. I don't know why they do it, but believe me it can really be a pain in the butt. You are lucky that the filter is very easy to get to on the edge.
  16. Well good for you. I hope you never need to take your car to the dealership for a repair. But i'm sure you can just do it all yourself.
  17. The warning beep does not come from the radio and does not change with radio volume.
  18. bbf you were much nicer in your response than I was, but his insults of mechanics really made me mad. He insults mechanics but much of his info is just wrong. I almost didn't respond to him, but i couldn't read post after post of his.
  19. Why don't you take yours out. You seem to know everything. It very easy to do. Oh wait i'm a mechanic so I guess I must be to dumb to figure it out.
  20. v Smack i don't know where you get your info from, but alot of it is just wrong. The dealership does not get a CD with the sync updates. It is done with the IDS just like all other updates are done. The IDS is updated online from ford. You really need to check your info before posting it.
  21. You will need to program the nav if your car did not come equiped with it orginally. It will not matter which nav you get since you do not have the adiophile or sync or sub. I don't know about the Ipod, I know the nav with not operate it without an add on interface like triptunes.
  22. Mine would not work because it didn't detect the wheel speeds. You will know right away if it needs to be programmed. If you plug it in and it works you should not have anything to worry about. It does have to be done by a ford tech. You actually have to upload the information from another car with the nav to our scan tool(IDS) and then download it to your car. If you can't find one from a fusion one from an edge with sync should work, just might need to be programmed. The dealership will probably charge you an hour of time.
  23. I have an Edge and did what you are looking to do. I bought my nav unit on ebay and installed it. Installing it is very easy and took about 10 minutes. you have to install the attena for the nav. As for the 07 or 08 for sync, I'm not sure but i would stick with the 08 just to be safe. I know sync is a seperate module but i don't know for sure if any radio will work. YOu will need to have it programmed. I did my own as I am a ford Tech but any good dealership should be able to do it for you. I got mine from an 08 and mine is an 07 and some of the options may have been different, but programming fixed that. If you can get one from the same car as yours you may not need to programm it. Hope that helps some.
