  1. Hi tmbubell. :D Sorry if my explanation was a bit confusing. The way the 1010 TIre site displays the information can be confusing, which is why I normally use the Miata site. For example, with the 17's and an uncorrected speedometer, if your Edge speedometer displays 60 mph, you will actually be traveling at 57.4 mph, since the uncorrected speedometer will be reading too fast. So it was essentially correct when you first stated "Speedometer difference of 4.551% too fast". However, you then mixed up the numbers when you added, "So if they didn't adjust for the tire size My Edge would be reading 60mph/100kmh when the Edge was really doing 62.7mph/ 104kmh". If I am reading correctly, your explanation has the speedometer reading too slow instead of too fast. So as stated previously, when your uncorrected speedometer reads 60 mph with the 17's on, you will actually be traveling at ~57.4 mph (not ~62.7). I attribute that mistake to the slightly more confusing way the stats are displayed in the 1010 Tire site. Even putting the math errors of the 1010 site aside, they both get us to the same place, but in a different way. Overall, discounting rounding of figures etc., the Miata site is correct and (in my opinion) a bit easier to read and sort through. Again, sorry for any confusion and good luck. :beerchug:

Hi tmbubell. :D Just as an FYI to avoid confusion for others: If I am reading your post correctly, you have accidentally swapped part of the explanation (for lack of a better description) in the read highlighted area. To explain: Going from the summer 22's to the winter 17's, if the speedometer/odometer is not corrected when you install your winter wheels it will read ~4.3% too fast. That means that when your speedometer reads 60 mph your actual speed will be ~57.4 mph. In other words, the actual vehicle speed will be slower than the speedometer reading. Now in the spring when you switch from the winter 17's to the summer 22's, the speedometer will then read ~4.5% too slow, meaning that when the speedometer reads 60 mph, the actual vehicle speed will then be ~62.7 mph. In other words, the actual vehicle speed will be faster than the speedometer reading. These figures can be verified here - LINK - Tire Size Calculator Not a big deal at all, but just wanted to keep anyone from getting confused about the entire "slower/faster" speedometer reading thing. But that is another story.
  3. Hi jackdaniel. :D According to the information I have, wlepse was correct when he stated 70.5mm. You can verify this by Googling 2010 Ford Edge wheel centerbore, calling The Tire Rack or another reputable wheel/tire seller, or simply have the machine shop verify the correct specs, since they should know this information/have ready access to it if they are a quality wheel repair specialty shop. Even if they don't have access to the information for some odd reason, they can measure your hub for the correct sizing. Let us know how you make out and good luck. :beerchug:
  4. Hi jackdaniel. :D Definite info concerning what? If you are still wondering about the stock/factory Fusion wheels centerbore spec (it is 67.1mm), Google "Ford Fusion wheel centerbore". As far as your price quote: Maybe the machine shop you received the price quote from does quality work, but all you mention is price. In this case, it is important to remember that finding a machine shop that knows what they are doing is more important than price. If they incorrectly machine the wheels, you could wind up with four useless hunks of aluminum that cause bad vibrations or worse while driving. So find a machine shop which specializes in quality automotive wheel work. Let us know how you make out and good luck. :beerchug:

  6. Hi RGS. :D My Internet guess? When the vehicle battery is disconnected, the memory seat feature can lose any programmed memory settings. So if the battery for your Edge was disconnected during the remote start install (or for any reason), the memory seat function programming was wiped out. Before you rack your brains too much, follow the memory seat programming instructions to reprogram them. Let us know how you make out and good luck. :beerchug:

See reply #23 on page 2 of this thread. :hearseespeak: Hi Doreo. :D It now seems that the 2013 Edge Order Guide has been released but had not been posted here or on Blue Oval Forums as is usual SOP. While it is an unusual chain of events, considering all the new information provided by akirby and icecapades I extend all due apologies for any accidental misinformation I provided. Currently, the 2013 Edge has a Job #1 date of 02/13/2012. So if all the stars align and you get an early production date etc., there is a chance your Edge could see Germany in May or sometime early summer. Please keep us updated on your progress. :grouphug: Good luck. :beerchug: PS - Want to point out that contrary to what the ENCS rep stated, as far as I could see when checking previous replies none of us provided any website links, let alone "garbage links". Unless I overlooked something, the only links I found in any of our replies were "auto-links" inserted by the Ford Edge Forum software, not by any of us.
  9. Hi Pageman. :D Short version: Z-Plan pricing is the same at every Dealership. However, Incentives and Rebates can vary by region (determined by ZipCode of the buyer)), so final/out-the-door purchase prices can vary due to that variable. As an FYI (again, short version): if you identified yourself as a Z-Plan purchase and presented the Dealership with your PIN, the Dealer is able to (and should have) told you the exact Z-Plan price of your vehicle. Yes, even on an ordered vehicle. For an ordered vehicle, all they need to do is print up a copy of the DORA and the A-Plan price will be listed right on it (A and Z-Plan are the same price). For in-stock vehicles, the Dealer shows the factory Invoice and again, the box labeled A-Plan is the price. In fact, they are required to show the Factory Invoice and provide a copy to the buyer, although many will not do so if not asked/pressed. Speak to your Dealership about their error.   11. Hi rme. :D Thanks for the ENCS information and understand everything you are saying. However, just in response to what is highlighted above in red: In this case, that is the precise problem. Orders for 2012 Edge are still being accepted and most likely will still be accepted even through the promised 2013 model delivery date of May 2012. Dates for closing of the Order Banks and end of production dates are known well in advance and Ford has made absolutely no mention of those dates for the 2012 Edge models. This also means that 2013's will not see production until well into 2012. Therefore, unless she does not mind waiting until (most likely) pretty well into the second half of 2012 for his Edge, that is the issue that Doreo needs to discuss with her Dealer/Buyer. Additionally, we wanted to make it known to Doreo that no order has actually been placed with Ford at this point (a misconception she was under), since the opening of the Order Bank for 2013's (and production start date) is no where in sight yet. All her ENCS Dealer/Buyer did was write down what she wants and put it in a file for future reference. Of course, if Doreo does not mind waiting at this point, then all of this is a non-issue. In the meantime, we just wanted to make her aware of the probable/more realistic timelines (as you also did above). Hope this makes the points we (and you) are attempting to get across to Doreo a bit clearer. :grouphug: Good luck. :beerchug:
  12. EDIT - Doreo, you and akirby posted while I was composing this reply, so some of the information below is now repetitive. Oh well. Hi Doreo. :D While we cannot vouch for what the Dealer may have told you or written on an order form or "ENCS buyers offer", there are several reasons why akirby states what he did and I would agree with him. Here goes: 1 - Production of the 2012 model Edge did not even begin until August of this year (only ~4 months ago). So it is doubtful that 2013 Edge production will begin in the first quarter of 2012, and that is when production would need to begin here for one to be in Europe/Germany by May. 2 - The Order Guide for the 2013 Edge is not available yet, nor is the Order Bank for the 2013 model, so a Dealer/Buyer can not submit an order to Ford other than writing down a vague list of what you want and holding it in their files until the Order Guide is available and the Order Bank is open. And even then, available equipment may change with the 2013 model and your "order" would be invalid until properly rewritten. 3 - Relating to #1, there is no production date yet set for the 2013 Edge, since again, production of the 2012 only began ~4 months ago. 4 - Along with no 2013 Order Guide being available, obviously no pricing for the 2013 Edge is available yet, making promises of a "...2013 model for the 2012 price..." a bit premature. There are other related points, but the bottom line is that there is little chance that a 2013 Edge will even be available in the U.S. or Canada in May of 2012, let alone in Germany. At this point in time, they may as well be promising you a 2014 Edge at the 2012 price delivered to you in May. Something is not right here, so it would be advisable to ask your Dealer/Buyer for more information so that you are not disappointed come May of next year. For example, ask them if they have the 2013 Ford Edge Order Guide (they don't) and have them show it to you. Without that Order Guide, this is all a moot point and they can not promise you anything. Sure, they will be able to get you a 2013 Edge eventually, but it won't be in May. Let us know what you find out and good luck. :beerchug:

  14. Hi fifthranger. :D What akirby stated. Batteries have been covered under the New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty for as long as I can remember (which unfortunately for me, is a pretty long time). In fact, if you check your Ford Warranty Guide, you will find that even brakes and wipers (among other items) have some limited coverages (from the Warranty Guide): "- wiper blade replacements will be provided during the first 12 months in service, regardless of miles driven - wheel alignments and tire balancing (unless required by a warranty repair) will be provided during the first 12 months or 12,000 miles in service, whichever occurs first - Brake pad/lining replacements will be provided during the first 12 months or 18,000 miles in service, whichever occurs first."   16. Hi jcaulfield. :D The Documentation Fee on the X-Plan is limited to $100 on both Leases and sales. Unfortunately, in my experience most Dealers know this but still try to get away with overcharging. When informed/politely confronted by a customer who knows the rules, they will eventually realize their "accidental error". Remember, automotive Dealerships are independent franchises not owned by Ford (or any other automaker), so they do what they do to try and "pad the profit". It is up to us as intelligent customers to watch out for ourselves. Don't let them overcharge you. Good luck. :beerchug:
  17. Hi moshjeier. :D You can cancel with no "blacklist" worries. However, you may want to give it at least few days after cancelling to ensure the cancellation has been fully processed. Otherwise your VIN may come up as already being registered for an ESP. Out of curiosity, where are you thinking of purchasing now? The reason I ask is we have existing threads listing the online sellers who historically offer the lowest prices. Good luck. :beerchug:

They are under no obligation to make the switch and in many cases, a Dealership will not agree to make the switch. Not saying they won't do it, just be sure they agree before you spend money.   20. Hi myfordedge. :D The 3 years/36,000 mile New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty begins from the original date of purchase. Unfortunately, at 40,000 miles you are outside the Warranty period (unless you purchased an extended warranty which includes the battery). Just for your own protection in the future, you may want to look over your Warranty Guide (given to all new car purchasers) so you know what other Warranty coverages and rights you still have remaining and how long they last.   21. Hi nitrocs. :D My advice: for a small and relatively inexpensive part such as this, just go to your local Ford/Lincoln Dealership and tell them what you need. They will look up the part number, tell you if it is available as a standalone piece, how much it is, and order it if they don't have it in stock. And keep in mind that purchasing parts is no different than purchasing a car. Prices are not written in stone, so always ask for a better deal. Good luck. :beerchug:

  23. Hi NIKAL. :D Just to add some more information to what akirby stated: No, it is not a "scare tactic". Simply put, automakers (all of them, not just Ford) Warranty the vehicle exactly the way it was delivered from the factory. Once you modify any part of the car, any future issue even remotely linkable to that modification can/may lead to a denied Warranty claim concerning that problem (if the automaker discovers the modification). No automakers care for aftermarket modifications, since they often lead to Warranty repairs. If you read your Warranty Guide, it specifically covers and explains the possible Warranty ramifications concerning modifying our cars. Bottom line? If you install an aftermarket HID kit (which by the way, is illegal for on-road use in the low-beam position in all of the U.S., Canada and Europe, no exceptions), Ford is well within their rights to deny any future Warranty claim concerning the lighting system, electrical system, SJB (Smart Junction Box), fuse problems etc. etc.. And yes, there have been denied Warranty claims for blown SJB's and other electrical issues concerning aftermarket HID kits. And no, Ford/the Dealer do not have to "prove" the HID kit caused the problem to deny the Warranty claim. It has happened in the past and will happen again in the future. And contrary to what some believe and may post here, the "Magnuson-Moss Act" gives absolutely no protection against this type of denied Warranty claim (notice I state "denied Warranty claim", not "voided Warranty", since they are two different animals).   24. Hi ajax. :D Well, you can try making a video of the behavior, but that is not the same as the Tech being able to put hands-on and witness it first-hand. Therefore, since this only seems to happen in the morning before the car is driven, you will probably need to leave it overnight so they can witness the behavior first-hand in the morning. That will entail making an appointment. Some Dealars provide free courtesy loaners, so find out what your Dealers policy is. Or, if you have the ESP Plan with rental coverage you can have them provide a loaner as part of your coverage. Keep us updated and good luck. :beerchug:
