  1. Hi kf4nnq. :D That question has been asked several times before, and I don't think anyone has come up with a definitively correct answer. Up to this point, it seems the button has no function. At least none that has been discovered. Possibly just a button for a disabled function on the Edge/MKX/MKZ/Fusion/Milan (yes, they all have the same button and it does nothing) . Good luck. :beerchug:
  2. Hi IWantAnEdge. :D Essentially, as Grey stated, there are still too many variables to answer your question accurately. What is your ZIP Code? What Incentives are currently offered by Ford in your area? Is this price before or after all available Incentives are deducted? Are you financing? If yes, what are the APR Rates you are being offered? Is this your "out the Door" price. In other words, is this the final price, or are there still fees and charges which the Dealer will tack on when you sit down to sign the Purchase Contract (i.e. "Documentation Fees", "Dealer Prep Fees", "Delivery Charges", etc etc.). As you can see, there are too many unanswered questions to give an accurate answer. At the very least, even if every answer is in your favor, off the top of my head the price seems a few hundred high (if Incentives have not yet been deducted) to be considered a really great deal. If all available Incentives have already been deducted, it is a horrible price (unless there are no Incentives available in your area, which is doubtful, or you are taking the Special APR Financing in lieu of Cash Incentives). But again, perception is relative and it is hard to tell with the limited information available. If you can find out the answers to the questions posed by Grey and myself, we may be able to give you a better answer. Good luck. :beerchug:
  3. Hi Dave. :D I know this question has been asked in the past. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the sensitivity or timing of the "Auto-On" headlights. Currently, it is not an owner or Dealer adjustable feature. The headlight timing you can adjust is the courtesy feature. That is the feature (if vehicle is equipped) that allows the headlights to stay on for a fixed period of time after the driver has turned off the ignition. Good luck. :beerchug:
  4. Hello Grey, my old friend! :D I would be more than happy to help if I could, but concerning VINCENT and OASIS, I can't. My access nowadays is as restricted as yours (in fact, probably more so). Other than special favors here and there, I get my information the old fashioned way, by past experience or researching it through the resources I do have. :stats: However, always feel free to ask. Sometimes folks like us can figure things out by picking each others brains! You will probably have a resource or two (or more) that I don't, and vice-versa. Sorry I could not be of more immediate assistance. Good luck. :beerchug:
  5. Hi bluesky. :D I just checked my neighbors 2007 Fusion SEL (V-6). Her system also worked as described above. When it is set to "AUTO", the "AC" light also illuminates, and stays illuminated no matter what temperature the system is set to. Hope this information may help. And again, in case you did not see the PS above, beautiful '64 Galaxie! :shades: Good luck. :beerchug:
  6. Hi bluesky. :D Sorry, maybe my post was a bit too confusing. I have a 2007 MKZ . The same HVAC system is in the Edge, MKX, MKZ, Fusion and Milan (just different cosmetic button layouts). I can confirm that the system works exactly as described in the Owners Manual (for 2007 models). On my car, if you have the system set to "AUTO", the "AC" light also comes on, and stays on whether you have the temp set to 60 or 85. Sorry for the question, but are you sure that the "AC" light does not light up anywhere in the face of the system when you have "AUTO'" engaged? Additionally, if you press particular buttons after setting the system to "AUTO", the system will switch to manual mode and the settings can/will change (a little hard to explain in writing, need to read the Manual closely). If your system is working properly, I can only guess that possibly it was not on long enough to begin cooling? Otherwise your A/C system is not working properly, and a trip to the Dealer will unfortunately be needed. Just as a side note, this is why we have told other forum members who are complaining about low fuel mileage not to drive around with the HVAC system constantly set to "Auto", since it activates the A/C compressor. and lowers MPG's. Good luck. :beerchug: PS - Love your '64 Galaxie. :happy feet:
  7. Hi JC. :D Okay, that is a good thing for you! I double checked myself on the Ford site, and it is not listed there, so I cannot verify that information myself. Again, could be a locally sponsored Incentive. Just be sure you triple check all of their calculations before you sign. In my experience, the calculators of Dealer Salesmen have very high error rates, for some odd reason! Good luck! :beerchug:
  8. Hi JC. :D In addition to the facts akirby provided you, here is some additional information: Currently in your ZIP (23231), the only Incentives listed is the choice of $2,000 Retail Customer Cash OR Special APR Finance Rates of 0.9%/36 months, 1.9%/48 months, 2.9%/60 months or 4.9%/72 months . The $1,000 Competitive Vehicle Owner Incentive is not listed on the Ford site for the Edge in your region. Did the Dealer tell you that it is available for your purchase and you qualify? Sometimes there are locally sponsored Incentives, which could explain it not being listed on the National site. You will need to check with your Dealer. Good luck. :beerchug:
  9. Hi Clayton. :D In your ZIP Code, the published Incentives on the Edge are: $2,000 Cash OR Special APR Rate Financing of 0.9%/36 months, 1.9%/48 months, 2.9%/60 months or 4.9%/72 months. On the MKX, $2,000 Customer Cash + $1,000 Competitive Owner Bonus Cash OR $1,000 Competitive Owner Bonus Cash and Special APR Rate Financing of 0%/36 Months, 0.9%/24 Months, 1.9%/60 Months or 3.9%/72 Months. As far as the Dealer offer of "$5,300 off every MKX in their lot"? Well, usually once you read the fine print you will find that those deals are only good if you qualify for every possible Incentive/Rebate imaginable. So, if you are not a Military Veteran, you don't qualify for the $500 Military Appreciation Incentive, so another $500 out of your pocket. If you have not purchased a new car there in the last 2 years, you can not qualify for the $1,000 "Owner Loyalty Rebate". Then, if you are not a Ukrainian Professional Acrobat, you don't qualify for the "$500 Ukrainian Professional Acrobat" Incentive, and have to pay $500 extra. Next, you are not a Blonde haired, green eyed Neurosurgeon, so you do not qualify for the $750 "Blonde Haired, Green Eyed Neurosurgeon Incentive...etc, etc. I'm sure you understand my point. It is a common sales tactic. Once you read the fine print, you will find out that you don't qualify for the price they quoted in the paper. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  10. Hi bluesky. No, that is not correct. You need only press the "AUTO" button. The operation of the ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) System is explained in detail in the Owners Manual. I have an MKZ, so I am not sure what pages cover the ATC System in the Edge Manual, but here is an excerpt from the online Manual concerning the A/C and "AUTO" buttons: 7. A/C: Press to activate/deactivate air conditioning. Use with recirculated air to improve cooling performance and efficiency. Engages automatically in AUTO, (defrost) and (floor/defrost). 13. AUTO: To engage automatic temperature control, press AUTO and select the desired temperature using the temperature control. The system will automatically determine fan speed, airflow distribution, A/C on or off, and outside or recirculated air, to heat or cool the vehicle to reach the desired temperature. Hope this information helps. Good luck.
  11. Hi JC. :D Incentives are categorized by Ford according to the purchasers ZIP Code and can/do vary widely by region. In other words, the Incentives on an Edge where I live will likely be quite different than they are where you live. If you post your ZIP here, we can check the current Incentive programs for you. Good luck. :beerchug:
  12. Hi dallenx. :D Short version, no. Unfortunately there is no way currently known to reprogram the "Auto-Unlock" feature to do what you would like. You can only turn the feature on or off. The only way to unlock the back doors before you open a front door (driver or passenger) is to use the power door lock button or unlock them manually. Long version (for those who do not know). Additionally, you do not need to unlock the front doors to exit the vehicle as the front doors unlock just by pulling the door handle, so there is no advantage for the front doors to having them unlock when the trans is shifted to park. The rear doors needing to be manually unlocked with the lock button to individually exit is a safety feature, obviously aimed mostly at those who have children. All someone in the back needs to do is unlock the door using the lock button to exit (just like the old days), they do not have to wait for the driver or front seat passenger. :yup: Good luck. :beerchug:
  13. Hi dallenx. :D Unfortunately, there is currently no way to reprogram the Message center to do any of the things you mention. Good luck. :beerchug:
  14. Hi dallenx. :D If you have the EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control), you do have an outside temp display. As "GettnEdgey" stated. you need to push the "EXT" button on the A/C unit. The A/C unit will then display the outside temp (the display is not located in the "Information Center"). Press it again and it will display the inside temp. It can only display one or the other, not both at the same time. The Manual A/C system does not have an outside temp display. If you have the manual system (three rotating knobs), you would need to add an aftermarket display, like the Ford Rearview Mirror accessory "edgedout" mentioned. Good luck. :beerchug:
  15. Hi fordmama3. :D The AXZ-Plan website just came back online ( I also sent you another PM). Your pricing quotes above for MSRP and Invoice price are accurate. As I stated in my earlier PM (and you already know), the Special APR Finance Rates are currently 0.0%/36 months, 0.0%/48 months, 0.0%/60 months or 1.9%/72 months . Okay, here is where it can get tricky. Taking the Invoice Price of $32,950, their "offer" of $33,250 is not too bad ($300 over "Actual Factory Invoice") if it includes all fees and charges other than Tax, Title and Registration. Of course, before tax is calculated, the Dealer needs to deduct your "Trade-in". I would try to get a higher trade-in value if possible. Have you gone to KBB.com and worked up the trade-in value of your Windstar? If not, you should. You need to know what the approximate value is so you can negotiate effectively. So let's just do some calculations using the $3,000 trade-in value: First, the Dealer should deduct the $3,000 from their $33,250 "offer". This gives you a base of $30,250. If all they add to that is your State tax, Title and Registration fees, you have a pretty good deal in my opinion. If they try to add extra bogus fees to pack their profit, do not fall for it. Again, you do not have too much room to negotiate on the Edge, as you are within $300 of Invoice. If you are lucky, you may be able to get them down a $100-$150 or so. Your wiggle room may be on the trade-in value of your Windstar, as Dealers usually try to lowball the trade-in. Check out KBB.com and see what the true trade-in value is. Try to get them to give you more. If any of this is not clear, please let me know. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
  16. Hi bri719. :D They are listed in the "Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls" sub-Forum. Just scroll further down the Ford Edge sub-Forums list and you will find it. Good luck. :beerchug:
  17. Hi BPM. :D Concerning the X-Plan: The rules for most Incentives are the same for X-Plan as regular retail purchasers. So if you can''t combine them Retail, you cannot combine them X-Plan (and vice-versa). Additionally, to add to what Lex correctly stated above: Some Incentives/Rebates are stand alone, meaning you cannot combine them with the "Special Low APR Finance Rates" which are sometime offered. Other Incentives/Rebates can be combined with the "Special Low APR Finance Rates". Unfortunately there is no single correct answer, as the rules and exclusions for Incentives/Rebates/Special Finance Rates can and will vary by region (even ZIP Code sometimes). Essentially, you need to read the "fine print" of each offer in your region to see what exclusions there may be. For example, in my ZIP Code there is currently a choice of either a $2,000 Cash Incentive or Special APR Financing. A buyer cannot get both. The link which Lex gave you above is a good one. You can find out exactly what is offered in your area, by your ZIP Code. Take a look at it and come back with any questions if you do not understand the information. Good luck. :beerchug:
  18. Hi Clayton. Here is a pricing explanation I have previously written:: When all is said and done, your purchase price should look something like this: The Initial X-Plan Price (it is listed on the Factory Invoice, in a box labeled "X-Plan Price", which the Dealer is required to show you) + a $75 maximum "Documentation Fee" + Any Dealer installed options or Extended Service Plan (agreed upon by you) = Subtotal + State and Local Sales Taxes = Subtotal - Any Incentives and Rebates you qualify for = Subtotal + Title and Registration = Your Final X-Plan Price Destination and Delivery Charges (and all other fees/charges not listed above) are already included in the X-Plan Price, and cannot be added to the figures above. There should be no additional fees/charges on your Sales Contract other than those listed above. The calculations for the X-Plan Price are as follows: True Factory Invoice Price x .996 + a $75 Administration Fee = the X-Plan Price. Keep in mind that we are talking about the "True" Factory Invoice Price, not those listed on sites like Edmunds, KBB, Consumer Reports etc. Those "Invoice" prices are usually anywhere from $200-$400 low, as they do not include some costs charged back to the Dealers by Ford. Therefore, it is always best to just go by the X-Plan Price listed in the box labeled "X-Plan" on the Original Factory Invoice. Hope this information helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck. :beerchug:

    MK X

Hi Chris. :D Congratulations on getting your new MKX. Official pronunciation according to Lincoln: Em-Kay-Ex. On an interesting side note, they were originally going with the "Mark" pronunciation (Mark X, Mark Z, etc.), but decided late in the game to go with the phonetic pronunciations (Em-Kay-Ex, Em-Kay-Zee, etc). Best of luck! :beerchug:
  20. Hi db. :D You will receive all types of answers to your question. Some feel that the "original Factory" oil should be changed by 1,000 miles to remove any metal shavings, castings, etc, left over from the manufacturing process. Others wait longer but still change early, around 3,000 miles or so. Some, like me, follow Fords recommendation and just do it sometime shortly before 7,500 miles (or in my case usually six months, since I do not put on a lot of miles). I will not force my opinion on you. Perform your first oil change somewhere between 1,000 and 7,500 miles (or 6 months, whichever comes first :shades: ), at whatever point you feel most comfortable with. What I will recommend you not do, is put Prolong or any other additive into your oil. If you read your Owners Manual, it will specifically tell you not to use oil additives. Save your money, and your engine. They are not needed, can be harmful, and are just a drain on your wallet. Good luck. :beerchug:
  21. Hi Peter. :D Long time no speak! :stats: No harm trying, but this is not the best forum to post for an X-Plan PIN. You will have much better chance of success if you also post here: LINK: Ford X-Plan PIN Forum Start your own "New Topic" to post. Also, take a look at previous posts there, where members have offered PINS. PM those who have offered PINS recently. It is considered perfectly alright to do so. It will increase your chances. Good luck. :beerchug:
  22. Hi 3-mer. :D Not a common problem, but yes, things happen. Easily fixed though. Take it to your Dealer. They will order one if needed and replace it. Good luck. :beerchug:
  23. Hi killermaze. :D Both Meguiar's LINK: Meguiar's and Mother's LINK: Mother's make excellent products for both the interior and exterior of your car. I prefer Meguiar's, but both are very good. There are other good brands, these are just my two favorites. Good luck. :beerchug:
  24. Hi Grey. :D With all due respect... :tease: (just kidding) I have discovered that you are 100% correct, and I have been laboring under false pretenses for many a moon. I just called the Ford ESP Call Center, and when I explained the situation, the very nice girl told me the same thing you just did. $100 surcharge by Ford to the Dealership after the first 12months/12,000 miles. Just goes to show that my wife is right and I don't have a clue! On another note, the FordESP.com site you listed is not the official ESP website. It is just a sales site run by a Dealer named Broadway Ford Truck Sales Inc., of St. Louis Missouri. :shades: For those interested, here is the official Ford ESP web address: LINK: Ford ESP Plans This site may be helpful to those interested in ESP Plan information, pricing and purchases, without the hassle of Dealing directly with a Dealership. It explains all of the various ESP Plans in detail, and you can actually work up pricing on a Plan you are interested in, or various Plans for comparison. Really quite handy. Just a note to everyone: Keep in mind that this is "most likely" the MSRP pricing. So just use it as a baseline to try and get your best pricing from your local Dealerships. If your local Dealership cannot meet or beat the Ford Online price, then come back and buy it directly from Ford online. Remember, the ESP Plan pricing is negotiable, just like the price of your new car. Thanks for straightening me out Grey. Good luck! :beerchug:
  25. Hi all. :D Akirby is correct. This is a terminology or definition problem. It is a common mistake for the two terms to be confused. All "Recall Campaigns" must be completed for cars brought into Canada, not "TSB's". A "Recall" is a governmental agency (DOT, NHTSA, etc) mandated campaign whereby all owners of a recalled vehicle must be notified that their car has a recognized problem which must be corrected. An auto manufacturer must send out mailers to all owners and keep detailed records of follow up. It usually relates to a serious safety or emissions problem with a vehicle. A "TSB" (Technical Service Bulletin) is merely an "in-house" memo from Ford to their Dealership Service Departments. It can deal with the most minute, unimportant subjects. It usually just tells Dealers that if a customer comes in with a particular complaint, just perform this particular repair without checking 9 other possibilities. They are usually simply used to save on "Diagnostic time" by pinpointing the problem and the fix, thereby saving money. For example. as akirby correctly points out, what sense does it make to perform a TSB dealing with a "Panoramic Roof rattle" on a vehicle that does not have a rattle? In another example, a "TSB" may detail something as simple as replacing a "#2 Phillips head screw" that holds a piece of trunk trim with an updated "#2 Torx head screw" if the customer complains about a loose piece of trunk trim. If a customer brings their car in for an oil change and does not complain about "loose trunk trim", the screw will not be replaced. No complaint, no fix performed. A "Recall" would be performed automatically when you brought your car in for any other service. Whether you asked or knew about it. Federal Law mandates that all "Recalls" be performed automatically. Simply put, TSB's do not have to be performed for a car to be imported to Canada. "Recalls" do. Hope this information helps to clear up the confusion. Good luck. :beerchug:
