Prior to changing my sparkplugs, I was getting between 15-16 mpg in city driving, and 23-24 on the highway (@75-80mph) After changing my plugs two weeks ago, my city milage is now hovering around 13 mpg. I used NGK platinum plugs, gapped at .054, and changed the air filter and PCV valve while I was there. The old plugs were showing a gap of .080, give or take. Why has my milage gotten worse?

GAAHHH! Well, went to Autozone today to get the stuff for the sparkplug change...and they don't have the intake manifold gasket, PCV valve, or torque wrench in the range that I need. Bought the plugs and anti-sieze while I was there, and ordered the rest of the stuff from Amazon and Rock Auto. Hopefully it will all be here before my vacation time ends.

Holy thread revival... Hey, KingMike...you ordered your emblems from DMB, correct? I had ordered (and applied) the overlays from Glass Elephant, but I inadvertently struck the open garage door with the open hatch, so I screwed my overlay up. Add to that, i could not get the steering wheel overlay to work correctly, so i ended up screwing it all up and tossing it out. What size did you order from DMB? They don't show an Edge in the listings. Also, would you happen to know if the badges for the 2008 and 2011 are the same size?

Well, got it done today...took about 3 hours, and one additional run to the parts store since neither one of my oil filter wrenches would fit. I plan to tackle the sparkplugs maybe next week.

I have the same issue with my Razr Maxx.

I called the local dealer and they quoted me $350 for the 90,000 mile service. Said service includes an oil change, air filter, wiper blades, tire rotation, and the multi-point inspection. Seriously...$350 for something I can do in about 2 hours in my garage? The icing on the cake is the sparkplugs...that is covered under a tuneup, and is an additional $400. I think I will be going to Autozone tomorrow for some oil and filters, and a torque wrench. The maintenance guide recommends replacing the PCV valve at 105,000 miles, except for 3V engines...is the 3.5 V6 in the FWD Edge Limited a 3V engine?

Thanks for the replies! I was used to getting between 27mpg and 30mpg with my old Intrepid...I figured that the Edge would get a little less, but not 20-22mpg. I am not that worried about it now, especially since I usually use my bike to go to work during the week, and that gets 50mpg easy.

Three months ago, I bought a 2008 Edge. A few days ago, we took our first long trip from Tennessee to Florida. We ran 75-80 MPH most of the way, except for around Nashville, Atlanta, and Jacksonville, where the speed limit dropped to 55-65. I averaged 22mpg for the trip. Is this normal? Stats: 2008 Ford Edge Limited /w 83000m on the clock 20" chrome-clad wheels /w Pirelli Scorpions Vista Roof Normal Tire Pressures No intake or exhaust mods, no tuning Pax and luggage: Myself (190lbs) and wife (90lbs) Suitcase (80lbs) Various odds and ends (maybe 30 pounds)

Where does one find the service manual? I cannot find it anywhere!

For those who have satellite radio...

I just don't see the value of paying for radio... -
What are you guys using to control trash in your Edge? In my Intrepid, I hooked a plastic shopping bag over the shifter and would toss it out when it got full. The layout of the center console shifter and cupholders does not lend itself to that option. I tried just keeping a bag on the passenger floorboard, but it is not working out that well, either.

Rear seat floorboard
Kitulu replied to ravishingrocket's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It's the same in my 08 Limited as well. I thought it a little odd at first, like Ford purposely left some details "unfinished" to either give it a more rough and truck-like ambiance, or to help convince people to move up to the next trim level, I.E. the Lincoln MTX. -
Your dealer is lazy. No roof, even a Vista roof, sunroof, or moonroof should be leaking.

I have noticed a bit more body lean than my last vehicle, and the seat could use some side bolsters to help keep you in place. Other than that it handles like a dream.
-
If it is the same that comes in the 2008 Edge, it is an 8" sub.
-
It runs along the top of the sensors and does not interfere at all.

I wonder if the Niteshades paint would work better...I may look into this as I am noticing that it takes forever for the lights to come on when it is gloomy and starting to get dark.

Are the wheelskins worth the $45 price difference?
-
They are pretty sturdy. I stand on them and feel almost no flex, and I am 200lbs.

It was similar to that. It is a large-ish panel that is directly under the glove box, and it attached at the front with two trim plugs. In the rear, it fits into an indentation in the firewall. The panel itself looks like it covers the fan motor for the a/c. I took the glove box and panel out this afternoon and figured out that it had not been installed correctly, took about 5 minutes to fix it. Incidentally, the panel had a thick piece of sound-deadening material attached to it, just like the door panels. If the rest of the interior is like this, no wonder the truck is so quiet!

There is a panel under the passenger side of the dash, below the glove box, that keeps coming loose and swinging down. How do I reattach it?

Well, I finally got the visors installed. I managed to break a piece off of the flange up by the rear corner of the window during install, but the visor still works fine, window goes up and down with no issues, so I am going to leave it well enough alone.
