  1. jrss, Welcome to the group/forum. We're not up to 2 edge's , only one. I'm not too crazy with the ride it has , pretty harsh. But I guess that's part of owning a SUV. MPG has been pretty good, makes up for the ride. If I can be forward ? What part of Indiana do you live? We live in Northern , In. Between La Porte and South Bend. Just took a short road trip. Posted a picture of trip meter. Larry Northern,In 2013 SEL
  2. Just got back from a short road trip. I reset #1 trip as we pulled out of our driveway. We live in the Walkerton, In. area. Went to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by way of the east side of Lake Michigan. First stop was Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. Then we headed west from there. Went over by Baraga / Houghton / Iron Mountain / Escanaba etc. Drove a total of 1858.5 when car was back in garage at home. Had interstate driving excess of 70 mph and quite a bit of 60 mph or less while in the UP. Averaged 28.4 for the round trip. Not too shabby in my opinion. Larry Northern, In 2013 Edge sel 3.5 v6 fwd
  3. Hi Folks, I made a mistake on the name of the glass I had installed in my Edge. I stated Pinkington. The name is Pilkington. Sorry Larry
  4. Hi, You can ask a dealer. Here is the pdf. Larry D-PlanChecklistForm.pdf
  5. Have it done by the pro's. Had mine replaced for $265.00 at the same place the local Ford dealer uses. They use Pinkington Glass which is a very high quality automotive glass company. Larry 2013 Edge
  6. I had a rattle under our car too. Turned out it was the plastic cover over the gas tank. Looked like a portion of it warped and was very close to the tank. I wedged a piece of hard foam rubber ( the kind that doesn't absorb water ) between the tank and cover . Rattle went away so that must have been the problem. 2013 edge sel Larry Northern, In.

    2015 Edge MPG

Hi Kevin, Assuming your car has FWD not AWD , you are getting decent mpg's for the type of driving and miles you drive. 10 miles one way just barely get things warmed up. Get it broke in it will get better. I have a 2013 SEL 3.5 FWD. I average 25-26 all around driving. On the highway I have seen 29-30 . Not very often does anyone just drive highway. I've taken a couple 2500 / 3000 mile road trips. One was from northern In. south to and through the Cumberland Mountains then over and through the Smoky Mountains then across to NC then around and down to Pensacola Fl. then back home. Averaged 26.3 mpg. I thought that was darn good considering all the Mountain driving. I see no reason why you won't get the same or better mpg's. Larry Northern,In
  8. Good morning Dood, We opted for fwd, don't need awd, plus one less thing to go wrong. The awd does have a leaking ptu problem. I understand there is a tsb bulletin on it??? I don't understand the trailer brake controller? I've never seen a ski-jet trailer that has brakes. Far as Fords I've owned. Without thinking too hard there is enough to use all my fingers on both hands. And yes, I have all my fingers. lol 2 miles from work , who worries about mpg. After reading the mods you plan to do I figure there may be a slight age difference between us. I'm at the point in life that the speakers and headlights work fine. 70 plus.. Nothing wrong with your plans I was there at one time. I did install a class lll hitch from e-trailer called the hidden hitch. All you see is the receiver , not the frame of the hitch. also it's under the bumper far enough you don't bump your leg on it. ( posted picts ) Every once in awhile I'll pull a 4x8 or 5x9 trailer with a lawn tractor on it. All for now. Have a great day Larry
  9. Hi Dood, Welcome. Very nice looking ride. Is it fwd or awd? I bought my 13 sel new in Feb. 2013 , haven't had any problems. Don't have many miles on it either. Been on a few road trips of 2500 plus miles with no issues and what I think is excellent gas mileage. All my trips have averaged 26 plus mpg. This included Smoky Mountain driving and a lot of two lane highways. Good luck with your new ride. I attached photo of mine. Larry Northern, In.
  10. mjbernard1 I feel your anguish with your Edge. Been there before. If I was in your position I would buy a Ford ESP plan incase more problems would arise. The last thing I would do is buy a Japanese car/truck. These vehicles have their share of problems too. Most important ( My opinion ) Remember Pearl Harbor. Larry Northern, In. 2013 Edge sel
  11. Bought the hidden hitch and wiring kit online from e-trailer. $234. total . The most time consuming part of installation was getting the bolts into the frame rail using the wire puller. Had to drill one 1/2 hole on each side of car. I didn't have a lift so I backed on to ramps , let the exhaust lay on the garage floor ( cardboard under it ) exhaust can be slid from one side to the other so you have room to work. I installed the hitch alone so I used a rubber bungee strap to tie one end up close to frame, lifted other end and finger tightened the nuts on the bolts then did the other end. Not bad at all. The wiring kit is high quality. After I took the time to thread the hot wire under the car to the battery, I thought I could have used the 12v receptacle in the cargo area.. Duh me. and saved a lot of laying on my back under the car. The monitor clamps on to the existing mirror and is a rearview mirror when not in reverse. I got it working but I'm not happy about how it says wireless but I had to run one wire from the reverse light positive wire in the tail light to the monitor . The monitor has a positive, negative and a acc wire. I connected the + and - wires to the ignition to power on and off. Ended up having to run the car length wire to connect to the acc wire. Now the monitor is a mirror until reverse. I couldn't think of any place else to connect the acc wire. Larry
  13. Normally it doesn't take long to see that you and sales staff aren't going to get along. That's when you pick up your marbles and go play somewhere else. I've found that most dealers and or their staff aren't out and out liars but try not to divulge much information. The best way is to do your homework before going to the dealer. If you know the answers to the questions you are going to ask it won't take long to decide if you want to shop there. Larry

    Back up camera

Hi factor99, I don't think it has Bluetooth???? Ended up having to run a wire from the positive wire at the backup light through the car to the monitors blue wire. It works now but has glare on the monitor, hard to see behind view. This is supposed to be a wireless system. yeah right.. My advice. Don't buy one. The kit is called TFT LCD. No model numbers anywhere. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171722759056?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thanks Larry

    Back up camera

Hi folks, I purchased and installed a wireless backup camera kit from ebay. The monitor is the type that fastens to the inside rearview mirror. I powered the monitor and wireless receiver from the ignition so no power until I turn on the key. I powered the camera and wireless transmitter off the back up light wires. Now my problem ( HELP ) When I turn the key on the monitor will have a blue color and say no signal, put the car in reverse I get a view of behind the car as supposed to. My understanding the monitor is supposed to return to a rearview mirror when not using reverse. The blue color is there while in park, neutral or any forward gear. I've racked my brain trying to figure out what is wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Larry 2013 Edge SEL

enigma-2, Have you installed a backup camera yet?? If so did you go with the rear view mirror monitor? I'm thinking real serious about going with the mirror monitor because the wires running to the auto dim feather on my stock mirror has positive and negative wires that can be used to power the monitor and the wireless receiver. Also the can be tucked in the headliner above the mirror, don't have to go through the hassle of running wires to the fuse box or 12 volt receptacle. Also the auto dim mirror positive wire powers on and off with the ignition. I think removing the inner panels on the lift gate to run the camera wires will be more of a pain in the --- than anything else. Larry
  17. my 2013 sel got me 26+ on two trips of about 3,000 miles each. This was all around driving , two lane , interstate, mountains etc. On a four lane road running 65 mph it will exceed the 27 mpg highway rating. I don't reset the number 2 odometer. Car has 17,000 miles on it and the average for those miles is 25.3 . I'm happy with the mileage this car gets. I don't hot dog it but don't baby it either. As others have said the mileage should increase after a few thousand miles. Larry
  18. Hi Jim, The garage most likely ran the engine quite a while after repair. That will bring your average down quick. How did you discover the water pump was bad? If you don't mind, could you tell us how much the work cost. Water pump, timing chain etc. Thanks Larry

Check ebay, I think they have a camera that replaces one license plate light. That is what I plan to use, waiting for warm weather. Larry
  21. If you decide on the ESP I think the Premium care is the best. Have to get it before the B2B runs out. What I've checked Floodford.com is the cheapest. I plan on buying from them later this year. My B2B runs out 2/08/16 Larry Northern,In
  22. Hi JOJO, That is pretty impressive mileage for a AWD but I think it may get a little better. Sounds like you may have got one of the better cars which I believe is very possible. I don't know how one would be better than another cause they are all build on a assembly line. But that is my feeling. We also got a good one. We have a 13 sel fwd. We have taken two fairly long road trips. Year before last we went from home ( Northern, Indiana ) down through the Cumberland Mountains on over to the Smoky Mountains. We went through all the scenic drives in both , then across to Cherokee, Nc. Visited a friend in Hendersonville, NC , on to Pensacola Fl. then back home. We averaged 26.3 on that trip. Last year we went from home to Harpursville, Ny. down and across using mostly two lane highways to Pensacola, Fl. then back home. That trip was 2,600 miles and averaged 28.2 Larry Northern, In

  25. Akirby, I checked on the ford site for part numbers. If I didn't see wrong the Edge and MKX use the same suspension parts. I don't have any idea what tuned suspension means. I always thought same part number same fit and performance. Larry
