  1. My rear passenger side seat had a similar noise to the recorded one. Hit the seat back and it would do the Tick Tick rattle noise. I used silicone spray in the hinge and the noise went away. This is about 3 weeks ago and the noise hasn't come back yet. Try reclining the seat at a different angle. If the noise changes it may help you find the cause. My rear seat was quiet when I lifted up the recline handle slightly.
  2. I think the glare is a function of the color more than the shine. My Med Lt Stone dash is really bright in the sun.
  3. I'm in Connecticut also and the police are busters about dark tint in front doors. I really can't blame them, they don't want to get shot.
  4. Make sure that the A/C drain isn't blocked. A buildup of water in the evaporator area can stink.
  5. I remember my brother-in-law's blazer with a digital readout dash. You needed to stare and read the speedometer instead of just glancing at the needle position. The early 90's Buick Reatta had a green CRT display that controlled the heating functions and radio. It was a disaster. The electronics have improved but the functionality still sucks. Why go through a menu when I can just turn a knob on my manual air-conditioning. I don't need to set the exact temperature of 72 degrees when I can set the knob to a known position that feels comfortable. I like gadgets and pretty shiny things that make my life easier and let me concentrate on driving and not playing video games. Let me know when speech recognition gets to the point that it actually understands English and calls the person that I told it to. Wow Now I Feel Better
  6. I've been a member here since July of this year when I bought a 2007 SEL. I have been reading about gas tank leaks and although mine isn't leaking at the present time I am starting to worry about future leaks and Ford not covering them. My last 2 SUV's were Grand Cherokee's. These vehicles had plastic fuel tanks. Don't laugh because they are tougher and don't puncture easily in accidents and don't rust. Are the tanks in FWD and AWD Edge's are different? Do they both have a tendency to rust through? I have an Arizona car relocated to Connecticut and feel like I'm living with an expensive time bomb.
  7. my 2007 only had this one rattle and has 87,000 miles on it. Guess mine was built on a Wednesday. LOL
  8. Since the last winter my street has been falling apart with pot holes and really crappy repair patches. My route to work has also been torn up getting ready for a repave for the last 2 weeks. Over this last couple of weeks I have been noticing a really annoying rattle creek coming from the rear of the car. I moved all the stuff around under the rear cover and organizer. No improvement found. Sunday I was cleaning up the rear seat area and I bumped the passenger side rear seat back and recreated the noise. Upon further banging I found that the release handle when partly pulled stopped the noise. I siliconed the release hinge and the noise stopped. Picture included.
  9. I popped the piece out of my Edge and photo'd it. It gives access to the latch if the electronics fail. I have attached photo's. There is a FoMoCo part number on the back. 7T43 7842906-ALW-P1A2 the part # may be color coded. Mine is Medium Light Stone. Hope this helps.
  10. I had 2 really bad experiences with a Chevy dealer in Fairfield Connecticut. first they left big black grease marks on the powder blue headliner of my wife's Monte Carlo, but worse than that they broke a windshield on my Lumina during the winter. They fixed it for free but when they did I got the car home and realized that there was a big brown smear of mud on the roof when there was white salt all over the car. I got curious and wiped it off to discover a 5 inch gouge in the paint down to the metal. I guess they thought I would never wash the car again or notice a big brown smear of dirt on the roof. What a bunch of dirt bags. They are out of business and nobody misses them.
  11. Just the colorbond spray. The sheen is a perfect match I still have more than half a can. If it starts wearing in a year or so I can touch it up. 2 coats should last. It is a pretty heavy material. I guess I'll have to yell at my mechanic if he gets it dirty. He left handprints on the wheel when he installed my new tires. If he wasn't so honest I would have been mad.
  12. Here is a picture of the finished steering wheel. You wouldn't believe how bad it was before. The picture doesn't show colors well, It matches perfectly.
  13. I just used my rear wiper for the first time today 2007 sel. It looks like there are two intermittent setting and not one intermittent and one continuous. Is this normal?
  14. I used the rear wiper today for the first time since I have the Edge. I found that both positions are intermittent with one setting seems faster than the other. Is this normal? The 2 Jeeps I had were position 1 intermittent and 2 continuous. I don't really care because I don't think I ever used the setting on continuous. Thanks for your answer in advance. Paul
  15. If the noise is a continuous grinding it is probably the bearing. if the noise is more of a clicking grinding it is probably the CV joint.
  16. Thanks for the shift point chart. I hear members complaining that the trans doesn't respond quickly enough. I'm not sure if my computer was ever updated but I find the trans always in the correct gear and will respond quickly to changes in driving. So far I think this is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I hope it stays that way. I still won't give up the Jeep, The winters in CT are snowy and the Edge is FWD. Oh well I won't have any PTO problems.
  17. I have a 2007 SEL FWD. I have been getting a rock steady 19 MPG since I own it, around 4 months. The car has 85,000 miles on it and hasn't had a single problem since I got it. The last time I filled it up I reset the trip and average MPG. This week I am leaving the display set on average MPG. I find that if I keep an eye on mileage I can increase the numbers. I live in Connecticut and drive about 25 miles in each direction. The trip is very hilly and kills economy very quickly. I use back roads on my trip home instead of the main road. Nicer ride and actually less stops on the back roads. I have increased from about 19.2 MPG to 20.7 For a large vehicle I think it does much better than I expected when I bought it. My wife's 2002 Grand Cherokee averages 15 MPG and it is a 4.0 6 cyl. It is larger and still very cramped inside. Oh yeah, can someone tell me if I'm correct in assuming that 1500rpm @ about 40 mph is in 5th gear. I know the rpms are about the same on the highway moving at 60.
  18. You should really take a close look at your tires. The first photo shows a lot of cracking.
  19. 2007 located left rear of luggage area under small plastic cover. Should be in your owners manual.
  20. Thanks Todd, I'd prefer not to carry this further. I think the guy was rushed and was doing me a favor to give it a quick look. I appreciate his effort just not the result.
  21. Just a good cleaning with Windex and a quick wipe with Isopropyl alcohol. I had no deep scratches just surface marks and some antique coffee stains from the previous owner that wouldn't come off. I didn't even primer it, just a few light coats of rattle can paint. Just make sure there is nothing greasy on it.
  22. Just painted mine about 2 weeks ago. I guess you could go to ford and buy their paint, I used Duplicolor exterior paint. Ford Silver Frost. It is a very popular silver they used for years. I had a can left over from fixing the rear bumper on my 1998 Ford Contour Sport. Hear is the final picture. When I got the car it was pretty beat up. By the way, the panel just pops out. Open the armrest and grab the panel and pull straight up. It is held in with clips. Just remove the black rubber ring around the shift area and the cup holder rubbers. The "ash tray" was from my Contour and is used for change not smoking. LOL
  23. Hi guys, Just want to let you know my Ford dealer screwed up when he told me the color was Camel. The color is really Medium Light Stone. The new order I placed came in today and I used it to fix my armrest, dashboard in a couple of places, drivers side door panel near the top where it was starting to fade and my steering wheel which was starting to look really skanky. This is a fantastic product. I didn't paint the entire panels, I just masked off any contrasting panels and did a blend spray in very light applications at first and then a little heavier in the areas that needed fixing sort of what you do when you blend the body panel next to the one your painting. the sheen is perfect and blended in without a trace. Verrrrrry happy fellow here. I should have known better than to believe the Ford guy who just came outside, looked at it and said Camel. Oh well, all is well that ends well. A very special thanks to CinnamonEdge for the product recommendation. :)
  24. Just listening to your noise makes me believe that it has a bad hydraulic lifter. It's a single tap every time that valve gets pushed. As far as I'm concerned it is not a normal noise. If you have an independent mechanic listen to it he will tell you the same. You can probably drive the car without any problem indefinitely. My 97 grand Cherokee had a bad lifter after 90,000 miles and when I sold it was still going strong at 165,000. Same tick tick, no louder or worse.
  25. Just painted my drivers door handle.. some _______ parking dinged the handle. removal took 3 minutes painting and clearing took 2 hours to do and dry. I watched Chuck Norris in Delta Force for the drying time and reassembled the handle in another 5 minutes after cleaning under it. Boy that Chuck Norris can really act. LOL
