  1. Hi Macbwt Just wondering if the 2008 is still around or if we need to do a memorial service for it. I'm looking forward to your new videos.
  2. If they are just foggy you can sand and polish them. the little cracks will not go away. If your looking to install new ones or upgraded ones you need to remove the front fascia. As far as quality of aftermarket, I have no experience.
  3. Very common problem. You can try to clean the contacts in the socket or replace the socket. You probably should file a complaint on the NHTSA web site. There are numerous complaints already filed about this.. Ford is ignoring the problem. Fortunately it is not a very expensive fix. When you replace the bulb use a brand name bulb. My experience has been that the cheap ones use a lower temp plastic base.
  4. If you hear the motor running you need to replace the track and mechanism. The window is moved up and down with cables. YouTube has videos on many window systems but not the edge. If your a fairly competent mechanic you can do it yourself. I just did one in my wife's grand Cherokee and it took about an hour and $35 on eBay.
  5. Center console there is a reset button. set the computer in the MPG mode and hold it down for about 5 seconds. you can do the same for trip mileage and trip timers.
  6. I believe that the side windows are tempered not laminated. The only laminated glass is in the windshield. If you look at the top edge of the window there isn't a line in the glass where the laminate would show. Do you have aftermarket tinting?
  7. It could be the neutral safety switch. This prevents the car from starting if the car isn't in park or neutral. in the Edge it is really a computer function that runs off of the gear selector to tell the trans what position it is in. Try putting the car in neutral instead of park and see if this helps and try moving the selector around it could also be a starter that doesn't like the heat.
  8. Did you try pulling up on the manual lock button? If you can't grab the button, you can try having someone else hit the power button while you grab the pull. you can try unscrewing the manual button to make it stick up more.

    Engine Cover

I brought an old company car Chevy into an oil change place for an oil change. This car would sit for months without use. The car was running rough and I asked for a new air filter. The mechanic freaked when he took the cover off and found a family of mice living in there. I think they were alive when I started the car but not when they arrived for service. RIPLOL
  10. Nice to hear a good dealer story for a change. I wonder what will become of the first 2 losers? They can't sell them as new because they were already registered. Maybe they can sent them to NHTSA for crash testing LOL. New model and initial production can be a problem for any manufacturing. The engineers make assumptions about how components function in real life situations and the production people aren't used to the assembly nuances for a while. They will get their act together eventually.
  11. Does the car crank normally and just not fire or is the cranking slow. Slow cranking could be a bad battery, Starter or solenoid, or all the wiring between like cables. Normal cranking and no start would be an ignition or fuel problem. Probably electrical like coils (which I doubt cause a bunch wouldn't fail together and if one did the car would start and just misfire.) Crank position or cam position sensor, or a bunch more. Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the car on and not try to start it?
  12. Is Ford recommending 5W30 instead of 5W20 for new applications?
  13. The car still thinks the key is in the ignition. It will open the locks after they are closed so you don't lock the keys in the car by accident. The outside keypad will lock them with the key in the ignition. I found this out by accident when I took my car home to see if I wanted to buy it. The car was not used for months and it was dirty. I parked it in my garage and wiped the dirt off of it to see if the paint was in good shape. I also wiped the keypad. I said some bad words when the doors locked. I think the sensor in the ignition lock is not operating correctly. I'm not sure if it is a mechanical switch or an electronic sensor.
  14. The water on the floor suggests the A/C drain is blocked. The water may be restricting air flow in the system because it sloshes to the right when you turn left. The howl could be the fan speed increasing as the airflow is reduced. Check the drain first before doing anything costly.
  15. Ok, I was jealous so I cleaned mine.
  16. My favorite color, oh yeah, same as mine only cleaner. I love the look of the original 3 bar grill,
  17. looks like someone in the pad factory emptied the garbage can into the mixing vat. (big piece of metal not little flakes.) Can you dig into the pad when you remove them and pull the junk out. It would be interesting to see what the hell they dropped in. Yuuuup Chinese quality control.
  18. My 2007 is like a baby with only 93,000 miles
  19. I don't think that you had a choice in buying these $1500 things. ABS, Antiskid and traction control I believe were standard on all Edges since they were introduced in 07. Anyway, at least ABS was and that would have had the same tone ring you had to replace. I agree that it would be nice to have parts broken down into their components. It would be an inventory nightmare for Ford to stock that many different parts. Most of the parts are supplied by outside suppliers who sell only complete assemblies to Ford. Think of it like a television. a board goes bad you replace it. You can probably replace a diode but most people would rather plug and play.
  20. 2002 Grand Cherokee. Only 118,000 miles and she feels like she is good for another 200 easy. My wife uses this as her daily driver and I use it when it snows in the winter. Lots, this past winter. My FWD Edge is good in snow but you can't beat a 4WD jeep for traction and road clearance.
  21. Please don't take this personally. This is not directed to anyone with an opinion on this discussion. My father-in-law was a used and new car dealer. His favorite expression was "There's an ass for every seat"
  22. I just buffed out my headlights today. First step, 1200 wet dry paper. Instead of water I used WD40 as a lube. Second step, Meguires mirror glaze. Fairly abrasive. I also used WD40 as a lube when the compound started to dry up. Third step, 3M foam polishing pad glaze. Foam pad on all steps. I wish I thought of taking pictures before. They weren't too bad but they were showing their age and exposure to Arizona sun. Here is the finished product.
  23. I don't want them on my Edge, My mother-in-law can't get into it. She leaves gum wrappers stuffed between the rear seats and in the armrest. It's a love hate relationship. I love to hate her.
  24. I don't want running boards on mine cause my mother-in-law can't get into it. She leaves candy and gum wrappers between the seats and in the armrest. I pick them out and through them on her bed.
  25. Just keep windows opened in the car to keep exhaust fumes out and red flag the end of the wood.
