  1. The stuff is amazing, I did some interior parts in October and they do not show any sign of wear. This includes the steering wheel that was a total disaster when I got the car and now looks like a new part and is subject to the most use. When I first sprayed it, it almost looked too perfect. With use over the last few months it looks better than when first sprayed. Do yourself a favor and buy this, you won't be disappointed. Please send pictures when done.
  2. Get the correct color and buy the touchup from colorbond. You won't believe how good it is.
  3. There could be lots of reasons including bad transmission gear selector sensor. I just tried an experiment with my 2007 sel. I took the car out of park and put it in reverse. When I tried to start it all I heard was the relay click under the dashboard. Your car may think that it is in gear and won't let it start. Try moving the trans shift lever back and fourth. You can also try to start it in neutral. There could be many other reasons.
  4. did you do a voltage test on the battery when you try to start it? The starter/relay wouldn't keep the dash lights from illuminating. does the car crank and not start or do you get nothing?
  5. I did the headlights on my 98 ford Contour. They were out in the sun for 10 years and were really dead. I used 3 different compounds from heavy to medium to polishing for a couple of hours and they looked like new when I was finished. I didn't use sandpaper, it's too scary. A month later I hit a deer and took them both out. I guess I can't say I didn't see him coming lol. My 2007 has slightly hazy lights and needs a good buffing that I will do when it gets nicer out. I hope the deer aren't reading this post.
  6. I got my 2007 with 82,000 miles and I'm sure it was never washed. There were no leaks and the dirt was mostly sand, dust and some leaves. I used a hose with a nozzle on it and it came out clean. After I used some soapy water on a paint brush to get into the corners where it looked dirty. A second rinse and then started right up. I let it run for a while to heat it up and evaporate any water in the engine compartment. The first time you do this on a new vehicle it can be scary. I've been doing this for years and the only time I ever had a problem was using a leaf blower to dry it. It seems that the blower can force water into areas that you shouldn't get wet. Just use your head and stay away from electrical as much as possible. Modern connectors are water tight but may not like direct soaking.
  7. I've been noticing a lot of "ricer" blue bulbs on cars coming at me at night. These things are horrible for oncoming traffic and also don't really increase useable light for the driver. If the light housing wasn't designed for LED or HID I wouldn't convert them. The focal point of the 07flector will change if the hotspot (filament) of the bulb changes. My 07 headlights seem to be really well suited for nighttime driving. Changing to blue coated bulbs is a waste and regular halogen seems to be the way to go. Oh yeah. The ricer bulbs can be real junk and will probably burn out in a few months. This is in my not so humble opinion.
  8. My 2007 is programed to unlock all doors with the drivers door opened from the inside. also 2 clicks of the remote opens all doors.
  9. Sad to say it's not that uncommon. Ohio uses lots of salt on the roads in the winter. I believe that corrosion (perforation) is covered 5 years unlimited mileage. Have the dealer check you gas tank, They have been recalled recently for leaks in rust belt states.
  10. The fog light Chrome bezel's are available on eBay, You might try a Junk Yard search. At least you can probably get them with the connector attached.
  11. Been there Done that in a 98 ford Contour. Anybody out there seen a deer with a Ford emblem tattooed on its ass? Glad the bags didn't deploy, and your OK.
  12. I have an07 but no nav system. Sorry I can't help you. My 6 Disk CD system has a line in with no input adjustment. It has pretty good line matching to regular inputs except my IPhone. I just crank the volume on the IPhone to compensate.
  13. The machined surfaces need to be perfect. The JY ones don't look much better than your original. I would go for a new one. I don't know the price but it should work. If you're located outside of the US you probably can have a friend ship one to you if no local parts are available.
  14. I'm totally amazed that a dealership would be using non Ford parts. The rotors were probably cheap imported parts made by 10 year olds working 16 hour days without bathroom breaks. If I go to a dealership for anything I expect safe real parts. That is the only reason that they should be charging twice the price of local real mechanics. I would like to know what Ford charged for the rotors compared to the Car Quest parts store cost of parts. Also remember the dealer gets a discount from the parts store. Dealers are good for warrantee work and recalls.
  15. You will never get a good seal with a corroded surface. The surface looks bad enough to ruin the new seal. I don't see any way around a shaft replacement.
  16. I am encouraging everyone with a 07-10 Edge that is having a problem with tail lights to file a complaint. Take a good look at your tail lights and see if the red lens is starting to melt on top from bulb heat. This is in addition to the sockets burning. The bulb is too close to the lens and there is not enough to room to dissipate the heat. I filed a complaint today
  17. My 2007 has leather seats but no seat heaters. The car spent all of it's life in Arizona. I'm in Connecticut and would really like to install a set of aftermarket heaters that I bought to fix my wife's Jeep and never used. How difficult is it to remove the upholstery and install the bottom and seat back pads? I'm worried about the side airbag.
  18. In the 2007 the center rear headrest blocks the headlights from behind so that the auto mirror dimming doesn't work. I keep the armrest in the rear down.
  19. You should probably JY the parts you need. You might even luck out with the color. Lots of wrecks on eBay for parts.
  20. Definitely drive train, probably transmission, The dragging feeling may have been the cause of the problem in the first place. You may have had a brake caliper sticking which would overheat the trans and damage it if driven. Take a look at the trans fluid. It should be red and not brown or smell burnt. The transaxle is the component that combines the front axle and the transmission into one unit. the differential is part of this unit. Your drive train consists of the transmission/differential (the transaxle) and the PTU which is the 4 wheel drive component of the system. Luckily your still under warrantee. Good luck Paul

    Trim

Could have been the steering wheel LOL, could crazy glue that too. Seriously, My 2007 has 87,000 miles on it and all I've done to it in the last 7,000 miles is an oil change and new tires. Oh yeah, I fixed a seat rattle. Maybe the previous owner had all the buggy things fixed.
  22. If the battery is stone flat or shorted your not going to start it with a jump. You really can't pull enough amps through cables unless they are really heavy. When jumping a car the cables usually are used to just charge your battery from the host car. This is the time of the year for batteries to fail. Look at the dome light in your car when you are trying to crank it. If the light goes to nothing than your battery is dead. if the light hardly dims than it is probably the starter. Once the car starts check the voltage at the battery, It should be over 14V When the car is not running, it should read 12V. If your going to try jumpstarting your car, try leaving the donor car running for about 20 minutes while it is connected to your battery to charge your battery. when starting your car have the donor car revving at about 2000 rpm. Good luck Paul
  23. I was watching Auto Week. They just covered a study by AAA about voice command. Ford SYNC included. They said that although there is less physical interaction, the drivers zoned out when trying to control different functions. Drivers also became frustrated when the commands had unintended results. They are suggesting that manufacturers improve the voice command functions.
  24. It sounds like its the fan controller. The computer tells the controller to turn the fans on. I don't think there is a separate relay involved in the process which would be a cheap fix. I don't have my Edge for a long time and I don't know where the controller is located but I assume that it is the component you unplugged the fan from. It may be an easy replacement job. Someone on the site may be able to confirm my opinion and give you help. Good luck. I just checked Ebay and found one for $220 free shipping
