  1. I only have the Edge a few months. First oil change. I'm looking at a 7,000 mile interval. I don't like using an oil filter longer than that. I already have about 3,000 miles on it since the original oil change. I'm using Mobile 1 The car has 84,000 miles on it now. It had 81 when I got it.
  2. YouTube has the procedure. Look up "ford 3.5 dohc upper intake removal". This is a well done procedure done on a ford Taurus. I think the Edge is probably more difficult because of the cowl over the back of the engine, but this will show you where the hard parts are. Good Luck Paul
  3. Mine was different, The bumper plastic part was ripped off. The old guy that had it before me was really good at using the bumper to bump stuff. lol
  4. The spray is a nice product but it doesn't really match the camel color properly. It is too yellow. if I get a chance i'll post pictures. I did the armrest and it really looks out of place. I might just go with the contrasting brown color on the dash for the arm rest and call it custom. lol
  5. It is located by the firewall on the passenger side of the engine, way under the cowl. Bring a flashlight. It took me a while to find it.
  6. My 2007 had this problem. The clip wasn't holding. I found that hot melt glue gun was a perfect fix. Pull the bumper away and squirt it in where the clips hold. Hold it in place for a few minutes and its been fixed for a month now. You can also remove it by just pulling.
  7. Thanks Cinnamon Edge, I just ordered from Colorbond today. My interior is the same as icanseeyou's and has the same problem. The color is Camel. I'll let you know how the color matches. I want to do a blend on the dash and completely do the console armrest. I'' try to post before and after pictures Thanks Paul
  8. My mom gave me a 1998 Ford Contour about 5 years ago that had only 10,500 miles on it. When I got it home I found receipts for 20 oil changes at over $100 per change. They were changing the oil at 6 month intervals using synthetic. Well, the engine was really like new. I use synthetic in my 2007 edge. I do it myself.
  9. You must really love your car if your only complaining about the dome light. Thanks Ford for a great ride. Boo to the engineer who didn't think of a dome light off switch. It wouldn't be very hard to wire in a switch.
  10. Careful, heat gun will soften the paint. I removed mine with lots of patience and a box cutter razor blade parallel to the paint. Not for the weak hearted. A little WD40 removed the adhesive leftovers. A good buffing after and you wouldn't know it was there. If you buy a new car always insist they don't put it on in the first place.
  11. Be careful of heat gun on the plastic bumper. I was removing a AAA sticker on my rear bumper and softened the paint with a heat gun. Heat guns are good for reforming bent plastic bumpers. They should be used on the inside of the bumper only unless you intend to repaint the bumper. I was repainting mine anyway.
  12. Not many Light Sage Metallic, I love this color. When I bought it the bumpers needed touching up cause the 80 yo who had it before didn't back up very well LOL. Duplicolor doesn't make rattle can in this color. Special order on line for a perfect match. Easy to blend and clear coat. Now I'm not embarrassed to park it at work.
  13. I had a Cadillac that the heater fan would turn on by itself without the key on. Look for a bad relay.
  14. My 2007 with manual A/C was really restricted when I test drove it. I almost didn't buy it. When I took it home I removed the cabin air filter and found it totally restricted. It didn't have a paper filter it had a fine screen filter. When held up to the sun you couldn't see thru it. I hosed it down and it is now beautiful. If you just want to see the difference you can remove the filter and try the system without it. I wouldn't keep it like that for long, it's there for a reason.
  15. Nice write-up, Just got my edge with 82,000 miles. It actually looks fairly easy with just an additional removal. When I first saw the engine I was wondering how the heck you got to the 3 back plugs. It is still easier than my 2.5 Ford Contour engine. That thing was a nightmare to work on. Nothing beats the plug change on my wife's 4 liter jeep engine. 4 bolts for the coil on plug unit and 6 plugs
  16. Best bet is to disconnect the negative battery cable and wait about 10 minutes.
  17. Connecticut has one of the highest gas prices in the U.S. at around $4.00/Gallon. (It's all state taxes) I guess I can not complain. I just purchased a 2007 SEL and will be registering it tomorrow. I can not wait. I have driven it a few times for 25 mile commutes from work and absolutely love it. Quiet, Quick, and handles well for the type vehicle it is.
  18. I am getting my 2007 tomorrow but when I test drove it there was almost no volume of air. I had taken the car home and decided I didn't want it because of the A/C. I remembered my Contour and thought of the cabin air filter. That one had mold growing on it. The Edge was from Arizona and has a screen filter, not a paper filter. The screen was so blocked with dead bugs and crumbled leaf parts that you couldn't see the sun through it. A good hose down and the A/C is as good as new. The first repair and I didn't even own it yet. LOL
  19. Picking up my 2007 Edge SEL tomorrow. Just thought I would get a head start. I am buying it privately and need some help. The car is mechanically good but needs some small repairs. Oh boy, I can't wait. I got it dirt cheap, with only 80,000 miles.
