It looks like the hinges need to be adjusted. Is the hinge side of the door pulled in more on the bottom than the top? If it isn't than the door may be warped. I'm not suggesting this but my buddies body shop used to fix stuff like this by blocking the door on the bottom with a wood block and pushing the top section of the door to twist it into the correct position. If your under warrantee bring it in and let Ford figure it out.

Welcome, Just a few more bits of chrome and a different grill. We all try to help each other.

Nice Edge, my favorite color. Did your Escape have the side air bags? The Edge has a great protection system, hope no one needs to use it but it's nice to know it's there.

Seat rattle. Anyone else have this?
PaulSchott replied to rwade434's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Try reading my fix in interior. do a search for seat rattle. The tick tick rattle is in the ratchet hinge adjuster. WD40 sprayed in liberal amounts solved it Nicest part, it is all fixed inside the car no need to crawl under in the winter. Oh yeah, this is for the rear seats. I have done both sides. -
anyone tried modifying rear window
PaulSchott replied to RobertP's topic in Accessories & Modifications
My wife's 2002 Grand Cherokee has the opening rear window, (flip up) and I think we used it once. You don't want to drive with it opened cause of exhaust gas. You can evacuate that smoke by opening the windows, I just don't understand why you would want to. -
Consumer Reports 10 vehicles to avoid
PaulSchott replied to Depiry's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Just a quick question. Does MFT interface with IPhone menu control for music control? I just have an aux input on my 2007 and was curious to see if Microsoft was willing to make life easier on Apple stuff users instead of more difficult as in the past. I bet if you could buy a Zune it would interface. -
Codes are numerical and not Just PCM which stands for power control module (this is the computer that controls just about everything in the car) There should be a specific PCM code stored in the computer to help diagnose the problem. I don't think that you can switch from awd to fwd economically. I would get a second opinion about the repairs.

I was wondering what size wheels the problematic cars are running and if it could be a problem exaggerated by wheel size/tire design.

Looks nice, I think it will just blow out of the way if the airbag deploys.

Seems like parking garage attendants and people who park and move cars don't like to walk away and leave headlights on. Can't blame them. Try to tell someone their battery is dead. It always takes me a while to figure out that someone turned them off. (My wife doesn't know how to turn the lights on in her Jeep. I always get the call that they are broken followed by the "Oh Yeah".) Gotta Love it

Dealers are not above switching out things on used cars. My wife's Grand Cherokee had optional cross members on the roof rack when we test drove it and they were not there when it was delivered. I made sure they were replaced before I took delivery. I pointed them out to the salesman when I test drove it and he developed amnesia when it was delivered. I told them the deal was off if it wasn't fixed.

Sorry, I hate to see anyone's ride killed. Guess you're ok, Those airbags scare the crap out of me but they do work. Good luck with your new edge.

Stealth technology, and some turbo emblems should add 150 HP. Seriously, I love my Edge but it is what it is. A great improvement will be betters brakes. My 2007 brakes suck. After the winter I'm going for some slotted or cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads. I did this on my wife's Grand Cherokee and it changed the entire driving experience.

13N02 - Extended Warranty Coverage on Brake Booster
PaulSchott replied to omar302's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
I find it repulsive that a salesman called to sell you a new car. I guess the sales and service department have no shame when fords screw-up creates a need for a car. -
I wouldn't worry about voiding the warrantee at 140 MPH, I would worry about voiding your life. LOL Remember it's an SUV with a high center of gravity. One little cross wind and it's all over.

I wonder if the pumpkin seeds are the size of walnuts. I had a 1997 F150 and it was a great vehicle. Went forever and sold in 2 days for my asking price. This new aluminum version is sweet.

there is a recall on 2007 / 2008 Edges for this problem. I wonder if the tanks are the same and if you are at the beginning of the next wave of leaky tanks. I'm not sure when or if Ford changed over to plastic tanks.

2011 Edge Sport 22" slow leaking tires...decisions
PaulSchott replied to smoothballer's topic in Wheels & Tires
I can't understand how tires leaking because of faulty rims isn't a safety recall issue. BMW doesn't recall their wheels when they get cracks in the rims that cause the tires to leak. I guess installing the TPMS systems on their cars removes the responsibility for dangerous defective parts from them to you. Maybe the auto manufacturers should put warning lights on the dash to warn of too much humidity and your air bag may decapitate you. -
It's a shame that you need to clean up after a mechanic makes a mess, but it's less aggravating to just do it and not have to see them again. I do almost everything myself so there is no one to blame but me. Make sure to complain to the service manager next time your there and inspect before you leave. The complaint may have and effect and get filtered down to the proper person.

I know that the recall isn't funny cause people have died. We were discussing it in work and decided that if you had a combination of GM ignition switch failures and Hand grenade air bags in your car you might have a better chance if the bag didn't deploy.

The problem: I have had my 2007 Edge SEL for about 6 months. My last car had a manual dimming mirror which was always fine. The auto dimming mirror on the Edge never worked properly. If someone was directly behind me it wouldn't dim. I noticed that when the road had turns the mirror would dim when the car behind me was not directly behind me. The solution: This morning I moved the position of the mirror as high as it could go in the mounting bracket. Next I put the center rear armrest down. The mirror is now functioning properly. It seams that the headrest and rear wiper motor housing was blocking the sensors from direct view of headlights from the rear. I can't move the wiper motor but dropping the rear center headrest and raising the mirror position was enough to fix the problem. This is a design flaw, I was wondering how many of you have this problem and if the design was changed in newer models.

Does the nav CD come with it? would you consider selling just the head unit.
