Welcome, Have my 07 SEL for less than a year and all I've done is put new tires on her. Started with 83,000 miles and now have 91,000. If it's a FWD you should be fine. If it's AWD you need to watch the PTO for leaks. I use synthetic 5 W 20 Mobile 1 and I plan on doing a trans oil change when the weather finally gets better. I also will be doing front brakes because of a warped rotor. If you do your own repairs the parts are fairly inexpensive. If you send it out you are still doing better than import repairs. Good luck, I love this vehicle. At 80,000 miles you are just broken in.

An adapter should make no difference. It is just a coax pass through. Could your new head unit be defective? I'm only saying this because you have tried other heads and it was good, otherwise the adapter might be suspect. You could try plugging a known good antenna directly into the head unit and seeing if it fixes the problem.

Mine isn't rusty but if you look at the construction, there is an area that water can be trapped between the outer hood and the bracing underneath. It might have helped if ford added some holes to the bracing for air circulation or squirted some sealant between the seams.

Just keep in mind that the dealership is a business and they will usually recommend service over and above the owners manual. Try not to let them change your headlight fluid too often. LOL

Hi macwbt, I'll leave my SS# and American Express card out on the kitchen table when I leave.

Hi macbwt, Just watched your video. My 07 tank looks really good. This was the first winter in Connecticut, the car has been in Arizona its whole life. I guess I'm lucky enough to not worry about it until they get the tanks ready. I would hope they go with plastic like my Jeep has. I think the problem is outside corrosion and not the alcohol in the fuel. otherwise the tanks would be rotting regardless of the location. I only have 91,000 miles on my Edge. I bet I could sell my tank and make some good bucks LOL. Before the recall I was considering removing my tank and having it sprayed with some kind of undercoating to prevent the problems that I kept hearing about, now I guess I'll just wait. Thanks for all of your videos, I love seeing what I'm in for in the future.

I'm sure you'll love it. Black is really nice. What color is the interior?

Got my 07 SEL last year. Love it. Enjoy your new wheels.

My first was a 61 Olds Starfire ragtop. Really pretty with blue metallic leather buckets. The transmissions would blow about twice yearly. My father gave it to me. He once used it to pull a bush out of the front yard. He pulled the rear bumper off the car. I told him he had to fix it and he told me tough s**t. I always kept it looking nice and sold it to someone who lived around the corner. It became a POS in two months. Never sell a car where you'll see it again. Just a picture, mine was white

My 2007 FWD is running Firestone Destination Le2's 235/65R17 in Connecticut. They have been great all winter. I drive 25 miles each way to work and have only stayed home once because of ice. We have had a horrible winter with at least 1 snow storm a week since January. I have confidence in the vehicle and the tires. If I didn't think it would make it I could have used my Grand Cherokee, an option I never needed.

:)Wow!! I'm glad I didn't "Chime" in. -
I would also check for any leaks that could be wetting the carpet.

Need advice on this possible purchase...
PaulSchott replied to mills2626's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
When I bought my wife's used Grand Cherokee they had a bunch of cars on the lot. The mileage needs to match the tire wear on a car with less than 50,000 miles. The wear should be even and not inside or outside. The car my wife liked had low mileage and uneven wear. I told her no. She looked more and took the same car without sunroof but with leather and tires that matched and showed about 25,000 miles that matched the speedo reading. These tires lasted until 50,000 miles and wore evenly. The next set is ready to be replaced at 114,000 miles and are worn evenly. Tires are a big teller of abuse or odometer fraud. Go with your gut. If it walks like a duck it probably is a duck. By the way, her G.C.is the best (shhhhhh don't jinx it). -
I would remove the cable from the battery and brush clean it in a mixture of baking soda and water to neutralize any acid that could be there. If the cable works I wouldn't replace it. I would want them to show me the damage. Also you need to clean up any acid spill in the battery tray.

Battery dies after only 15 minutes in accessory mode ?
PaulSchott replied to wes8398's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Kirkland also makes a dynamite Vodka. It's so good that you won't care if your car starts. LOL -
I would try some kind of a leather/vinyl treatment. (Careful with silicone, Some of the propellants can destroy plastic). It may only be a temporary fix that needs to be redone on occasion. My 97 grand Cherokee had a static problem which needed to be treated with static guard every couple of weeks or your hair would stand up in the winter dry months.

My 07 sel fwd was getting about 18 in average hilly back road Connecticut driving, down from 19.5 summer driving. Check your tire pressure. mine calls for 34 psi and it was down to 29/30 after it got cold. It's back to 19.5/20 after bringing the pressure up. I expect it to get a little better after the winter.

I got the recall letter a while ago. My tank doesn't leak because the car is an Arizona car until 2 years ago. I was wondering If ford was going to replace all tanks leaking or not. This may start to leak in the future because it lives in Connecticut now.

Mine 2007 SEL is a few hundred miles from 90,000. Been a great vehicle but I really wish it would stay under 90,000. Oh well, everything gets older. As long as I still keep running it's all good.
-
Really quiet interior and minimum road noise. 2007 FWD. This can be tire dependent, Best to test drive the vehicle and see for yourself. The sport has larger wheels with lower profile tires which can be noisier with a harsher ride.
-
If your leak is between the MAF and the intake, it will effect the readings and bugger up your fuel air mixture and I guess a bunch of other things too.
-
Ha Ha, Just got that after reading it twice. I have the same problem, It's not under warrantee. Maybe lemon law.
-
You can rotate the tires and see if the sound moves with the tire in question. I thought I had a bad bearing and found out it was a tire when I replaced all of them. I actually needed tires anyway but the tire looked ok at first glance.

New driving lights
PaulSchott replied to krazyteggy's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I'm not sure about Canada, In the U.S. it is illegal to have more than 4 lights on at the same time. That's why the fog lights turn off when the high beams are on.
