  1. TPMS is mostly a failsafe for people who do nothing to their vehicles except put gas in the tank. It will also alert you to a new flat while you are driving, which is a good thing. You shouldn't rely on it to tell you if you are low on air. Handling, gas mileage, tire life and all around safety rely on proper inflation. Done cold with a proper tire gauge to the specs on the label.
  2. I was wondering the same. I just never asked. Thanks omar302
  3. I'm assuming that it burned close to the connection point on the fan control (relay) . If that is the case the connection was probably poor and overheated the wire. You may be able to replace the connector and just the burnt end of the wire without replacing the whole harness. The connector on the control will need to be checked to see if that is the area of high resistance. If it is burnt I would suggest replacing this unit or it will just happen again.
  4. Max performance work well.. I have them on my 07 FWD. They are made in Canada.
  5. The temp control just adds heat to the already cold air. The compressor cools the evaporator to a predetermined temp. Lowering the fan speed would keep the compressor from cycling on more than at high fan speed and save some fuel. Now you just have to decide how much you'll save and is It worth it.
  6. How about surgically implanting little rubber tips on the end of their fingers.
  7. Bye the way, most leather used in the U.S. is form domestic beef and from South America and I believe mostly from Argentina where the meat business is king. If we didn't use leather it would just end up rotting.
  8. I was in the leather business for over 20 years. (We cut the seats for the Chrysler Cordoba, red and Green metallic leather LOL) My 2007 Edge has leather. The front seats have all leather on the seat bottoms and the seat backs. The side pieces are Vinyl. The back seats have leather center inserts with vinyl surrounding them seat bottom and seat back.. The leather used is a high quality top grain cowhide finished with an opaque solid stain. It needs to be tough to stand up to the asses driving on them. The use of leather only in seating areas is to make the product affordable and still look attractive. In my opinion good job Ford. My friend just bought a Lexus RX200t. The seats are 100% vinyl. The salesmen told him how this is a great improvement over leather. The vinyl used really looked nice but it was too perfect. It was soft and I imagine the that it will get hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I wander what they will look like in 6 of 7 years when the PVC dries out and they start cracking. I don't believe the seats in the Edge have changed through the 2014 year model. Maybe I'm wrong but they sure look the same. After 94,000 miles mine look great.
  9. hope it helps dash_exploded.pdf
  10. First try this! remove your key chain and all other keys and metal objects, speed passes etc. from around your key. They can prevent the key transmitter from operating correctly. The battery in the key is only used for the door remotes and has nothing to do with the antitheft system. If the car cranks and doesn't start, the key could be the problem. If the car doesn't crank it probably isn't the key (unless it doesn't turn in the lock.) If the PATS doesn't detect the correct key it will crank and just not start. I do not understand how you can have a good key that works and one that doesn't work for cranking if they both turn in the lock
  11. I have a PDF file with the disassembly instructions for the dash at home, I will try to upload them tonight when I get home. Removal of the cluster cover is probably just 4 screws once you get it out. Hope I remember lol
  12. You need 2 keys to program a new key.
  13. Could be an out of balance drive shaft. I assume there are 5 on an AWD. Also check the CV joints.
  14. go to YouTube and search for ford edge headlight. you will find a video that shows removal of front bumper and headlight replacement. You need to remove the bumper to replace the headlight. Rear bumper, grill fender are all just screwed and clipped on. You tube might not have exact videos for edge, but watching some other ford videos will give you a pretty good idea. Good Luck
  15. does your lift gate release work? it is on the same circuit , The #17 fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box. IF the fuse is good you need to see if there is power going to it. All controlled by the body control module.
  16. I touched up a road rash on my 07 painted 17" wheels using duplicolor ford silver frost for a 1998 ford contour. It was hanging around for a few years and I figured it would look better than the curb rash. I masked off the wheel and tire and only sprayed the lip of the wheel. The results were surprisingly good and the color was dead on. For the Black touch up you could just use flat black spray.
  17. If anything using recirculate would reduce the amount of condensate because you are running dehumidified and cooled air through the evaporator which would produce less condensate. Sounds like an old wife's tale. My first thought was also the drain tube. If it is you will start getting water on the carpet. Where was the drain tube? Might be a good thing to know.
  18. The product is Colorbond. the web site is www.colorbondpaint.com I used their product on my 07 with medium light stone on the dash and steering wheel. The match was perfect and this was over a year ago. The steering wheel and center armrest look exactly like the day they were done. I expected them to need a repaint within a year. I can't say enough good about their product.
  19. 2007 all hilly 2 lane local roads about 20 miles each way every day. In the spring I was getting about 20.5 on a normal week. With the A/C running all the time now I get about 19 on the same trip. I don't consider that bad for the conditions. On a long highway trip and resetting the MPG while underway (after accelerating on the road) it has gotten around 23.5.
  20. Not totally out of the ordinary for a fuse to actually be defective. The next time if at all, is the time to worry. If you were cruising, the fans should have been off and not pulling anything through the fuse. However the A/C was on and may have needed additional cooling on the condenser. Time will tell.
  21. my 07 has a washable filter. I check it about every 7 months and I am always surprised at how dirty it gets. If anyone is having airflow problems, this is the place to start. when I got the car it hadn't been looked at for 7 years. The airflow was down to nothing and I almost didn't buy the car. The first gen A/C replacement procedure is almost the same except there are no pins to remove and the "string" is on the right side and not the left. Thanks for the video
  22. my 2007 has one. and a trap door at the bottom of the console. I found it after I went hunting for the noise it made after each turn. Turned out to be keys left by the previous owner. Drove me crazy for a year.
  23. When I bought my 07 the A/C was horrible. I almost didn't buy it until I cleaned the filter which was almost completely blocked. If you keep the filter clean you should be OK.
  24. Not sure about the keys, but I love your "IT clown" picture.
  25. My Grand Cherokee has the nice rollup type that pop in and out and hooks in to secure. I think I used it twice in the last 13 years. I still like the idea of it being there. I'm kind of glad the Edge doesn't have one if it's that bad. I guess I'll use the Jeep when I'm transporting my diamond encrusted gold bars around. Seriously, I like the black blanket idea. You really can't see much through the tinted windows.
