A service shop might consider installing the compressor with a written waiver that they bear no responsibility for anything that goes wrong. It's hard to predict the long-term outcome operating it without the third mount. A creative fabricator might be able to make a bracket that secures to a different location. Looks like you've got nothing to lose giving it a try without the third mount.

Check the vacuum line and its non-return/check valve is good. Let the engine idle for a few minutes to build vacuum in the booster then disconnect the hose at the booster and confirm there's an inrush of air.

I've used the same brand and model USB 32GB drive for the Cyanlabs Sync3 updates - but I don't think they still sell them in that size.

A good starting point in the diagnostics is knowing the stored fault codes - the misfiring/staggering potential causes go beyond bad spark plugs.

I recommend that you use Forscan - yes, I've had other reputable scanners show no codes only to find that there was stored codes using Forscan. The symptoms you describe there's bound to be codes stored.

Agreed, legal battles aren't welcome regardless how strong your case may be, so if there's any uncertainty you could use the type of catch-can that I have which takes a couple of minutes to remove/install as and when needed. Definitely wouldn't run my 2.7L V6 without it.

Have you cycled the ABS system during the bleed process?

It's not my observation that "many" have said the catch can will void warranty - the law is not on their side when it comes to proving the catch can caused whatever engine failure.
