  1. Xtra, yes it can be used with the stock intercooler, all it does is maintain the stock 2.25 size all the way through.
  2. Buddy of mine got wind of what we are doing and sent me this, thought I had to share it with the community lol
  3. it has been added to the list :-) thanks Xtra!
  4. This could be a possibility but with our newly upgraded PTU and some sticky 275's I think we will be golden
  5. Fantastic question!!! So the peak boost that the stock turbos push is 22psi, at this point they are hair dryers and WAY WAY WAY out of efficiency range. Also, they hit this peak very early in the rpm range... about 2800-3800 and begin to drop off after 4400 because they are no longer efficient until about 14psi (or less) at redline. Now, the new ones will hit hard around 3500 (keep engine load down the higher the rpm) and will continue to produce efficient cool boost out to 6K while maintaining boost pressure. this will keep heat lower, and loads lower. Next, higher volume: the new turbos at 18psi will most likely create the same horsepower as stock ones at 22psi, more volume, more air, more fuel, less pressure, which is hard to explain how this works. The goal isn't to make more boost, rather push the peak out a tad for better fuel economy and better WOT traction and a harder pull to redline. Hope I answered your question, if I didn't please let me know
  6. Just got an update from BNR! these are looking good!
  7. Yes we have, totally different turbo layout sadly. not a direct plug and play. Ours will be more aggressive and flow more volume plus psi than these.
  8. Xtra is coming after the big boys ;-), send us some update pics along the way and make sure we keep their info readily available. I'm going to update the OP with all of our info, parts, prices, dynos and the such. Also if you need seal part numbers for a turbo install we have them and can post them.
  9. that's an interesting way to state it... "in sand" lol
  10. seems like a silly reason to skip maintenance imo. its haunting them on the police interceptors.
  11. So your saying that since their technicians are incompetent we should suffer with a less reliable part due to lack of maintenance ......yea not happening
  12. Thanks Xtra, it was completely unnecessary however they have blown my father and I away in customer service! Also, all parts are on hold for materials so I guess its better that I happened now than later.
  13. Well we got some bad news folks....on the topic of PTU... the type of fluid is an absolutely necessity to pay close attention to. We had a service Friday and flush trans and PTU fluid. On the way to work this morning dad (Snmjim) did a hard pull on to the highway and immediately after started to experience a very loud whine and an occasional clunky/chunky feeling. Having explained to him what a ptu failure feels like he turned around and went to ford. They put it up on the rack and pulled the drain plug, the wrong color fluid came out (confirming incorrect fluid) along with metal shaving and chunks. They are replacing it under warranty, and till its replaced our R&D Pace will be slowed for a bit. Sorry in advance, Special_K & Snmjim
  14. Blew our PTU on the way to work.... great way to start a monday

  16. Welcome to the DARKSIDE :happy feet: :happy feet: Keep tabs in the 2.7 ecoboost section for updates on our prototype parts! A reliable 12 sec suv is in our future!
  17. Awesome info! Would you like to enlighten what the best Gear lube is??
  18. We are testing the CP-e rmm now.
  19. All good! we are all here to learn and have fun!
  20. I like this idea the best snmjim, seems to be the best of both worlds that we are looking for.
  21. you are correct the PTU is a limiting factor. however the Gen 2 Edgesport uses the same ptu out of the explorer which gives us a little bit of head room. Everything has its limits of course.
  22. when the car is cold...like over night....start the car up and run over to the gril with a light and look in, you should see them cycling
