  1. Interesting. On my 2010 (and my 2008) the heated seats had to be switched on manually after I got in the car. The Service people (Canada) told me it was a FORD safety function and could not be overridden just like you cannot over-ride the tire warning if you put on winter tires on new rims without pressure sensors (at Can$250 each most people I know live with the annoyance of the light and message).
  2. Did you do a search? As I remember someone ran a thread on it about a year ago. They were able to do it using a Yakima rack if I remember correctly. Clearly that would not be a 2011, but i dont think the roof set-up has changed
  3. Repair held up for the remaining time I had the 2008. I changed to a 2010 in May this year. Would be interesting to hear from others who had the same repair.
  4. This is a well known problem and was discussed many times about 18 months ago on this forum. There is a TSB out (search this forum) and Ford issued a letter to 2008 Edge owners doubling the warranty period for the heaters
  5. Thanks for the update. Was wondering how things were going. Keep us informed.
  6. It will be most interesting to see how this option sells. My Ford Dealer (Canada) understands that the Edge Turbo will have a premium price. The wording (my interpretation) on fuel type is that premium is recommended and if it is not used MILEAGE and performance will not be as advertised. The implication being that to get the mileage numbers talked about premium gas will be required. Here in the Peoples Republic of Ontario, premium is about 13% more expensive than the regular used in the V6. Thus, I suggest any mileage improvement will have to have about 13% taken off to show a cost effective solution as well as factoring in the "premium" charge over the life of the vehicle. Further, the speculation is that the towing capacity will be reduced significantly (guess is 1500lbs) At this point the turbo option doesn't seem to make sense to me. O, did I mention the loss of power, which at the current 265 (approx) is only adequate for passing a logging truck up here in the GWN? Will be interested to hear other thoughts
  7. Will be very interesting to see what the towing capacity is.
  8. Question & Comment. Question; is the 2011 PTU the same as the 2010 and earlier? Comment; I understand the PTU problem was finally solved for the 2010 models and that the latest fix (Rev x where x is a large number) seems to be working. (Stand to be corrected)
  9. Ask my wife if it is a design issue? One time, after a heavy rain and while it was still raining, she went to get into the passenger side in a bit of a hurry. There was so much water there that it splashed all over her feet and since she was wearing open toe type shoes, she was not a happy camper.
  10. Happened in both my 2008 and 2010. Just a design issue
  11. I really wasn't going to continue my Sirrius subscription when the free-be ran out this month, but I have not got an offer of Can$20 for 5 months. i have to read the fine-print (the Devil is in the details), but assuming i find nothing I will renew for the 5 months.
  12. Hi cdbirch, As you say they are not the same. My son gets xm and he gets a good folk channel and a good blues channel, both of which I cannot get. There is other stuff too. The "rewind" time on Sirius seems to be getting shorter and shorter and I dont know who selects their music, but there is so much good stuff out there that never seems to get a play. i-touch for me and use the money from the subscription to but more music
  13. Will be most interested in the responses (if any) I put up a similar post a while back and got zero response.
  14. Do they reduce the wind noise, especially in a head wind
  15. Interesting thread since my 6 month free Sirius is up this month. As it stands I do not plan to renew. Perhaps if Sirius and XM were combined in Canada (as they appear to be in the states) I might keep it. Overall I find I only listen to about 5 channels and they become repetitive after a while. To my amazement, since it is run by CBC, I find that the TV Satellite radio programming is better with more variety. I am into Folk and Blues and I find the Sirius coverage very poor in both areas unlike in the States where my Son gets a combined XM/Sirius signal that includes both a good Blues and a good Folk station. Also there is an increasing amount of "chatter" that at times starts to sound like regular radio. Finally, because it is a fixed system in the edge, I would have to get a second subscription (at a reduced price) to listen inside the house. Why do that when I get radio with the TV? I guess it works for a lot of people not for me, especially with pennies being a bit harder to find every day (I live in Ontario!), I will use my i-pod instead
  16. See a previous post about Rust Protection. I live in ON and have just had my 2010 sprayed with Diamond Coat. I did not want any holes drilled in the vehicle, so that ruled out some options. I agree with a previous poster that they are all about the same, but based on reviews that say it is all in the application I went with the Diamond because the owner is new in business, setting up for his retirement and I know he is doing the work instead of some minimum wage Joe/Jill, .
  17. I have been following this story as it unfolds. Good Luck. Re a previous post about the 2010's in general appearing to have more problems, there does seem to be some indication that this is in fact the case. It will be interesting to follow it with time and see how the 2011's perform.
  18. I had the Pilots on my 08 and now have the Latitudes on the 10. Pilot was much much quieter
  19. I had the Pilots on my 08 and was very happy with them. I have Michelin Latitudes on my 10 and they are so much noisier than the Leader without any (purely subjective) improvement in wet or dry traction
  20. As a related question, do you know if my simply replacing this module with the appropriate one I can get XM rather than Sirius? (In Canada they are still two distinct companies and XM has better blues and a folk channel)
  21. What model Michelin tires are on your 08.
  22. wire in the nozzle outlet would be my 1st try to make sure it is not clogged
  23. I hope this is an isolated case. It was my understanding that Ford had fixed this problem and come up (finally) with a retro fix kit, not just for the Edge but for other vehicles with the AWD system.
  24. It should be with the vehicle. At least in Canada it is part of the package. My net was in a package in the spare tire well.
  25. I wish I still had my 2008 and had not traded for the 2010
