  1. Yea allot of negative review, youtube is tearing it up it seems, but most of the negative review is the transmission shifts. Some hate the interior because it doesn't look like a Acura RDX inside and I agree it could have been more updated like the Explorer St is but I can live with all that. Just want quick shifts, and nice acceleration which hoping Ford fixes and for the few extra things I will do myself like tune, exhaust. Not looking to make this a street beast I have that already just need a family SUV that will get up and go a little and still have some halfway decent gas mileage which makes the edge a perfect fit, unlike a SRT Durango / Jeep which has over 400 hp but 19 highway which is probably 17 highway would get old after a while
  2. I understand about the subscription. Look at NEST I don't think they make you pay. For ring I have 4 camera's and I pay $99.00 a year for all 4 to record. That also puts all 4 under life time warranty, so if 3 years from now one of your camera's fail they will send you out a new one as long as you pay the $ 99.00 a year. I have a real alarm system in the house from ADT as well that monitors smoke, carbon, doors, windows, etc. but that system doens't have cameras. I have Erie home insurance and save over a hundred a year on my insurance because of have alarm system so I figured it was a wash. I think it is $ 30.00 a year for just one camera and it is $ 99.00 for unlimited camera's.
  3. I could believe the dropping price part, but the HP part I knew something wasn't right because Ford is claiming the ST Explorer is their fastest ever SUV. Our local dealer has had 2 of them since the first of the year and when I went to look at the red one I ask how are the ST sales going. He said they have sold allot of new Edge's but only one ST. I ask why and he said the most of the people coming in like the looks of the ST but they complain about the price saying it is out of their budge for a family SUV or say they don't need that extra power. I am thinking great when I go to get mine I will I hope to get deal
  4. This is great news as I am one of those guys waiting for summer before purchasing an ST I really would like to hear they got this issue fixed. I have watched every youtube video out there about the car and it seems they all (unless a dealer video) say the transmission shifts are not up to par. I test drove an ST and it seemed okay to me but I didn't stand on the go pedal but it felt fine. I am hoping all the bad reviews on youtube is from early builds which I would understand has issues I have purchased 15 + new cars in my life and some I got right when the new model came out and I ended up paying the price to debug it. I think they refer to it as the bleeding edge LOL. They all got fixed but sucked I was the one going to the dealer a few times a year to do it fixed and the next model year all had all the fixes done from the factory.
  5. So for camera system I got a ring door bell for christmas, I know there are other brands but it was a gift I didn't ask for so I had to take it. I was so impressed with it that I got the Ring Flood Light Cam at costco online for $199.00. I installed it in place of my motion light that truly just would give light to a thief in the night. LOL This floodlight cam is money. It rings my cell phone when someone is in the driveway. I can talk to them, I can set off an alarm, etc. It doesn't everything they say. (watch youtube video on it) So now I have one in the front of the house the back of the house and I purchased a Ring Stick up camera that is in the garage. It is Battery powered but have had it for months and the battery is still at 70 percent. I think they claim it is good for 6 months or 1000 notifications before you charge it again. (charging takes 6 hours so have a spare battery ready to go or get the stick up cam that is powered.) In my case wanted battery to move it to locations that didn't have power. Anyhow the flood light cam is a nice. Picture of outside Ring Flood Light Cam and Picture of inside Garage with Ring Stick up Cam. Ford Escape will be sold this summer after winter for a ST Edge and Ignore the Shelby without the blower.. for some reason I feel 750hp isn't enough and in the process of putting on something better Yea I know I have issues..LOL
  6. What do you have to do to change to LED ?
  7. I realize it is early 2019 but has anyone heard anything about the 2020 edge ST as far as changes etc? I will be going to Washington DC in April 2019 to the International CarShow and will be asking one of the Ford reps that will be there about any info on the 2020, but I find members on this forum seems to know things way before anyone else does which is cool. Once I get back I will post up anything I find out for sure.
  8. This is what I have on the Stang and thinking could mod it so it would work on the Edge ST. https://bigmikesperformanceparts.com/
  9. When I ordered my mustang I told the dealer do not mount the front license plate bracket even though I lived in a state that has both plates. I told them I would take my chances without one. I drove for 4 years without a plate in Virginia and finally a company made a bracket that used screws that held on the front chin spoiler so you could have your place mounted but wasn't screwed into the bumper. The dealer did buck a little bit about not mounting it but I told him it was my car and if he drilled holes in the bumper I would be asking for a new front bumper at his expense. I won LOL
  10. ST made the cover page https://www.shopmrt.com/Default.asp
  11. I don't hate the looks of it at all, I do like the rear wheel drive like days past. So when I had Ford Rangers they were Rear Wheel Drive until you pressed the 4x4 button than the fronts engaged. So does that me the Explorer is just rear wheel drive until you select snow or mud than all 4 wheels are engaged or to get the AWD (4x4) is that a extra package, standard, etc? Not worried about the other models just as the ST model.
  12. That is the first I have seen a ST explorer.. it looks nice... that was great find I have ripped through the internet looking for a ST Explorer picture but all I could fine was the taped up version
  13. I have only driven in the past a 2018 Edge Sport and never an Explorer so yesterday before the snow storm decided to take a trip to a near by Ford Dealer. Jerry's ford in Leesburg, Virginia. No pressure at all from them, told them my plan was to get a ST in the spring and they were 100% fine with that and still encouraged me to take both vehicles out for a drive. I am not sure which one I am most impressed with. The Explorer that weights (guessing 500lbs more) and ( less torque) surprised me from 0--60ish. I have never driven one and didn't know what to expect but it does get up and go for such a tank. It rode nice and handle the back roads he had me drive on very well. You can feel the extra weight but if someone said you had to buy that vehicle it wouldn't be the worst vehicle to own. The Edge felt nimble for sure and didn't feel like a vehicle that weights 4000+ pounds. As far as pickup it did seem to get to 60ish faster from a dead stop but wasn't a huge difference At 40mph stood on the go pedal for both of them to see how the passing would be and that is where the Edge ST shined for sure again, the explorer got up and moved but not like the Edge ST. For overall looks it goes to the Edge ST for sure. For ride the explorer won but guessing that is because it is heavier and the suspension is more for luxury and not sporty like the edge. For cost the edge is cheaper for sure and unless you need the extra space feel the edge st is the over all winner. Not sure how all this will change with the ST explorer but was cool to drive both of them for 20 minutes back to back.
  14. Your right if it picked up some real power it would be worth it.... thinking a cobb downpipe (or the like) and retune would be the best bang for the bucks but there goes the warranty.
  15. That intake is sweet looking Nick... yea that would be cool to have something like that...except for the price
  16. I never heard of Blood Type Racing but after reading the article I went to their website and sent them a message asking if the intake they made for that car if they were going to make it available for consumers. Hopefully tomorrow they answer the question
  17. For me I don't want to have a brand new vehicle that I buy in winter and deal with the the salt and chemicals on a 2 week old new vehicle... I normally buy in spring Apr-May so I can enjoy it all summer and the newest goes away.. so when winter comes in Nov 2019 I will already have a paint chip or two so I will be fine driving it then, just want a few months without that. Meantime I drive a 2014 Escape which I am okay with it getting trashed because it is going away soon
  18. To bad the edge isn't RWD until you flip a switch or turn a dial like back in the day when I had a Ford Ranger 4x4. My wife tells me I am over thinking it that this is my daily driver and I shouldn't be worried about HP since I have a modified GT500 that sits in the garage and I understand that LOL but.... I still love performance and want my Daily to be somewhat fun as well. She doesn't get it and I can't explain to her to be honest I don't understand it myself. All I hear is the speed limit is only 70mph so what does it matter how fast she says..
  19. Appreciate the info guys. I went and looked at a 2018 Explorer Sport and it was nice but was also what I think is a little big but maybe that is because I drive a 2014 Escape so everything is big compared to that Hopefully at the 2019 autoshow I can get some more info, I can't always trust what the sales people tell me. Right now the explorer weights like 5K pounds and the Edge is 4500-4600 hundred so I was thinking it weights 4 to 500 hundred more and has only 20 more ft-lbs torque it won't be that much faster if any.. but maybe the 10 speed makes up the difference and it being a RWD. I love the size of the edge it seems perfect for me and the wife so we will see what info gets leaked out between now and the time I am ready to order. Thanks again for the info...
  20. So my local dealer called me to tell me they have two Edge ST's in even though I told them at least 4 different times I will not purchase a new vehicle in the winter time especially where I live because even the threat of snow they dump chemicals and salt on the road but they are salesman so I understand. Anyhow I went down to take a look at them and talk about prices just to see where they are with them. (Below is a link to the white one and they said they could do a little better than that) anyhow while I was there he got started on the Explorer ST. I have not done really any research on the Explorer because I need something bigger than my escape but felt the explorer was too big, too heavy, and would be that quick. The salesman told me was that the Explorer will have the 10 speed Auto and according to him will get 2 mpg better than the Edge highway and for performance it will of course have a more HP than the current Explorer Sport which now is 365/350tq he was saying at least 400hp and over 400tq but the real kicker it will be rear wheel drive like a truck and with a selector switch will kick in the front wheels. If this is all true than now I am not sure which way to go of course it will cost more he claims Explorers are about 2k more base price over Edge. But if you get more room and faster for a few thousand more I would dig deeper in the pockets for that. So just checking in with you guys to see if you have heard anything like what he is telling me or is it just him trying to up sale me on a more expensive product? I am going to the Washington DC auto show Jan 26, 2019 and you can believe I will be working over the Ford booth about this info but figured I would bounce it off you all. https://www.malloyford.com/new/Ford/2019-Ford-Edge-Winchester-VA-b1569f4d0a0e0a6b0dfefdb81a990432.htm?searchDepth=12:15
  21. So now guessing you have a few hundred more miles bmwta. So any updates on the car for mileage and or performance?
  22. I understand... my 3 goto is intake-exhaust-tune. Put an Intake on my 2014 escape that is 2 liter turbo and magnaflow cat back at the same time and not sure which of the two did it but it picked up low end torque, enough that on cool days when I stand on it she will spin while it is shifting to 2nd. (FWD Escape) it is surprising how good it runs with just those two mods.. and I put a pedal commander on it as well but that was later on.
  23. The sales person at MF said with a minor modification it could work but they can't say for sure unless they got one in their shop to test. He also said anyone that is close to them could sign up to have their vehicle used for measurements and fit and than if the exhaust is made that person would get it at a reduced price. This is the same for just about any company out there. JLT makes intakes and have seen them asking before for certain vehicles, I was a tester for HURST shifters years ago for a vehicle I had, they made me sign a legal doc that I would not post up results, pictures, etc...I had to fill out a form weekly with updates on what I liked didn't like, issues, etc and when they finally released the product I got one for free which was cool. But back to the exhaust thing if any of you out there have the ST and are near one of the major exhaust companies and would like an aftermarket exhaust call them and ask if you could bring your car in for a fitting? I live in VA so sadly won't be able to help and won't have a ST until after winter is done here. ( my OCD won't let me buy a new car in the winter, can't keep it clean enough)
  24. So I just called MF and the tech said that part # is for a edge but his tech sheet said it would not work for a 17-18-19 Edge Sport/ST he didn't know it won't work but he said it wasn't made for that year edge. I ask him if they were going to make one and he said yes but it would be a year away since they are working on other vehicles. I am guessing since they don't have one for a sport 17-18 that it will be longer than a year. Sadly no shop around here does stainless or mandrel bent exhaust and from what I am getting from calling all these exhaust shops is the ST edge is not a big enough seller for anyone to care about it. Reason why their isn't any CAI for the car. Tell them you have a ST focus or Fiesta and everyone comes out of the wood work with an exhaust. Even the Explorer Sport they made an exhaust but the Edge shares space with the misfit toys that are on their own island I guess. I hate having a car I can't buy parts for and I have changed about everything I can on my mustang :(
