  1. I don't know who they were they had sport coats and they were all about coming up to you when you were looking at their cars, asking you questions about why you like it and if you were interested in it but knew no spec's. They did have the new GT500 there which being on the Shelby Forums I have seen those pictures and youtube video's but it was nice to see it in person. I ask them a few questions about that car also but once again got the deer in the head lights look. I should have asked them if they heard the Ford Pinto was coming back to see if they would have said "Yes we heard that" LOL
  2. So today finally made it to the DC autoshow. A ton of nice vehicles and if money is no object man there is some extremely nice cars and suv's out there. But on to the important part, went to the Ford booth twice once in the morning and once in the afternoon to talk to reps which I did and neither one of them knew there ass from a hole in the ground Was looking at the Edge ST and both times 2 different guys came over and I started telling them about the forums and youtube videos about the transmission issues and both of them acted like they never heard anything like that before. I asked them both do you ever go out on the forums or have heard of YOUTUBE? They claim they don't get into the details about any of the Fords they just know general info... I should have figured it as much but was worth a try. Ask about the 2020 Edge ST and all they knew is late summer some info will be out about it but could tell me nothing else. Than we talked about the Explorer ST first question I ask was 0-60 and 1/4 times... they knew nothing. Next MPG of the explorer...they knew nothing. I should have stayed home and not wasted a vacation day..LOL
  3. This can't be good...I just sit hear and shake my head how R&D didn't find these issues. Are they trying to get a car to market fast and just don't have the time to test things 100%.
  4. Finally I hope this is the issue and the guys that get it done can post up their thoughts before and after the FLASH. Would like to know if it goes in 8th gear during a highway drive or hangs in 7th. And does it shift any faster from a dead stop to 60 mph?
  5. Certain cars I am okay buying used. Mustangs NOPE I know how they are driven so everyone of mine have been new, cars with turbo's as silly as it sounds I want knew so I know how the car was broken in. Other cars used it fine. Bought a 2016 Accord V6 for the wife (she is not the ford fan like me lol) it had 8K miles on it. Now has 42K and not one thing wrong and runs great. I know I am going to take a hit buying new and if I was going to sell in 2 or 3 years that would suck, but I normally keep my daily driver for 5-8 years. And like Sage says when reselling people like that is was bought new, garage kept, and have all the records. Is buying new a great investment NO unless you bought a 2007-2009 Ford GT for 145K back than now it is worth allot more but sadly I couldn't afford one those
  6. This is why I created this post I wanted to hear from real people (owners of the ST) not someone trying to pump up their hits on youtube to make more money. There has been some very honest reviews of it especially the guy that put the car on the lift and walked under it explaining it doesn't have allot of change. In fact I subscribed to his channel now just because he seems like a stand up guy. Winter is all but over here in Virginia and my plan was to pull the trigger April or May but because of the honest reviews from this forum I can't do it. Spending 40+K thousand on a vehicle I can do ! (did it for my Shelby) but spending that much and knowing up front from not just one person but from allot, and video's to back it up that the transmission is flawed somehow well that puts me in a holding pattern. This isn't my hotrod and have come to grips with a custom exhaust and tune is about all I could do to it which is fine, never had any plans on bigger turbo, blow off valve, intercooler, etc. because this isn't my hotrod... BUT if I am driving down the same stretch of road and one day it shifts to 8th and the next stays in 7th and nothing I can do to force it to 8th well that will just cause me allot of stress and my local dealer will be hating me because I will be there all the time wanted it fixed, and I know as of right now I would be better off asking someone at Ace Hardware if they could fix the problem because it doesn't sound like there is a fix. And with this forum, the other Forum, youtube I have a hard time thinking Ford doesn't know there is a problem but yet they don't seem to be talking about it sending a letter to the current owners about it. Maybe they are thinking nobody will notice or those that do will just say "Oh Well I love the Edge so I can live with it. " Sadly I am not that person after spending this much money. DC autoshow is now just 2 weeks away and I am going to the Ford booth early and can't wait to see if they admit a problem about the car or not. I am a FORD guy, 8 mustangs, 2 trucks, 3 focuses, 1 thunderbird, and a ford taurus so I bleed blue so believe me I want the ST to be a success I love the looks, I love the size of it, it is just the perfect vehicle. I don't care the dash has hard plastic, or the other minor things about it others have said. But a faulty trans that is a show stopper for me. I do want to thank everyone for their input and also didn't want to start a feud on here with this question. People have opinions and the freedom to them especially when being ask a question so I do thank you all for the feedback and the passionate feed back is still good feed back. I am on here every night reading everyone's post so hopefully there will be a post "TRANS FIXED FINALLY" and inside that post will be a TSB that does what it was suppose to and everyone gives it a huge thumbs up
  7. Looks good, breaks up all that white and gives it some more contrast plus makes it unique
  8. Hard to believe the RS did that bad against those cars guessing drive mode issue, like shifting at 4 grand, 86 octane, something... because I buddy of mine in the Shelby club he has one as his daily driver and even before he did the norm (down pipe, exhaust, intake, tune) that car was fast and when he would launch at 3500 it would take off like rocket.
  9. Jamie1073 that is a good question. During the reveal they said after 20 years they were going back to rear wheel drive and a selector switch to engage the front wheels. That was how my 2 ford rangers where back in the day. Living in Virginia our winters are normally maybe 5-8 snow days. Some years we have had 12 to 20 inches in one falling but normally we only get a few inches of snow and it is gone the next day. ( I work for a school system so snow days means I stay home ) So for me I don't need AWD for the 355 days we don't have snow but would be nice to push a button or turn a knob for those few days we do have it. When I get to the DC autoshow that is one of the questions I will be asking the Ford Rep for sure. Also going to ask them if they know about the transmission concerns from the ST owners. Guessing even if they do know they will play stupid and act like they have never heard anything about it.
  10. I got an email this morning from Ford that you can now configure the Explorer ST. The way I priced one out it was 55K msrp. So guessing when the other models sell and this is sitting on a dealer lot could be had for 48K. https://shop.ford.com/build/explorer/2020/?cks=269082050&emailid=19q1_ford_xcxa_explorer_pr#/select/ I don't need 3 row so that row would be down 100% of the time and not sure it has more room than the Edge but I do like a few things about it. 400hp / 420 tq If it weights 500lbs more than an Edge guess it is the same performance but not sure on the weight. 10 Speed Auto = I think this trans is solid guys beat on it at the drag strip with their mustangs and it seems to take it and I won't be beating on a SUV so should last. Rear Wheel Drive = For those times when a little slide around a turn is called for Borla is going to make an exhaust for it. (called today and ask them) ( also ask about Edge ST exhaust) so far not on their radar i am sure LMS and the like will be making a tune for it as well. Dislike: A 10 inch iPad planted vertical in the center of the dash. If you don't take the technology package you get the smaller version. I think the Edge looks more sporty but I don't hate the look of the Explorer. DC Auto Show is coming up in a 3 weeks so will get to see one in person
  11. I saw that same video from the guy that drove it 10 feet... that guy is on the crack pipe...how do you test a car in 10 feet in a warehouse. He is PO because he has a ST focus and they stop making them. I gave his video a thumbs down and moved on
  12. Guys, So every night I go out to youtube to watch some of my friends channels along with doing a search for Ford Edge ST just to see if anything new and exciting is out there. What I see 97% of the time from Edge ST video's is negative about all types of things. Most the rants are that they took the ST badge and put it on a SUV that isn't as much fun as a ST Focus and Fiesta. I understand their logic that the ST, SVT, Cobra, etc. are all badges of performance vehicles and although the ST edge could have been more of a rocket with the right engine and trans setup and that it is mainly a Edge Sport with some changes...I am okay with that... and I understand this car is not designed to out run a mustang or the like it is to get a family from A to B in comfort and be sporty at the same time which it seems it does very well. But something I hate hearing and it is causing me to question myself about getting this vehicle is the transmission. What I see over and over again is how it is slow to shift, how the 2 extra gears don't really do anything great for the vehicle, paddle shifters are slow to respond etc. One or 2 videos saying it and I wouldn't be concerned but I know I have watched at least 15 reviews and they all say the same thing so guessing they all can't be wrong. All the other stuff about price, and hard plastic dash, dated interior I can live with all that because I don't agree with everything they say because all of that is in the eye's of the beholder. BUT the trans issue brothers me. I see some guys on here have posted up somethings about a clunk or searching for a gear but is it as bad of a transmission as what they say? And could all these issues go away with just a software update or is there something failed in the design of the transmission? I figure if anyone had input on this would be guys that own the car right now instead of the youtubers that get a car for their 20 minute car review or to boost their channel.

    Edge ST MPG

Well that doesn't seem to be to hateful bobyellow especially with the low amount of miles on the car. I would expect once more broken in that would increase even more and when they don't have winter blend gas. Here in Virginia we have gas stations that sell 93 10% eth and the same station sells 93 0% eth which cost about 25 cents more a gallon but when I run it in my Escape I do get a little better mileage. And one place local that I can get Sunoco 100 octane non eth but it is $ 8.30 a gallon so I use that sparingly in the mustang LOL

    Edge ST MPG

I heard Ford is being questioned about the Ranger because of the false advertising on the MPG. I have owned over 10 ford vehicles and I can't remember one of them getting what the windows sticker said. Bought a 2013 Focus for the wife to commute 50 miles one way and though for sure with her type of driving ( non aggressive) and mostly highway the focus would get what they said but it was 3-4 mpg off for the life of the vehicle. This is one time that I wish the government would step in and FORCE car manufactures be accurate with their ratings. To me it is false advertising because we bought the focus 1. because I am a Ford Guy and 2. She needed the best mileage. Than to add insult our neighbor bought a civic and got 2 mpg better than what the sticker said.
  15. What brand Air Intake is that or is this a home made job ? I found it on their website: https://www.steeda.com/steeda-fusion-twin-turbo-cold-air-kit?banner
  16. As of right now I have to agree with Nick and akriby I don't see anyone (aftermarket) rushing to make go fast parts for the Edge. I have hammered all the companies that make exhaust systems for mustangs, F150's and non of the big boys make it for the EDGE ST except for MRT but they are just mufflers and not a true cat back. Borla makes full cat back for explorer and when I ask the sales guy while explorer has a cat-back his answer was the market is flooded with explorers so they felt they would make all their money back easy. Also spent a snowday off from work calling the major companies that make CAI and got the same shut down in that department. JLT intake which I run on my Shelby and have run on other mustangs I owned they said they got a ST in their shop and looked to see how to make an improvement and according to the guy I talked to they couldn't see a way to make something allot better and cost effective ? I would have just liked to had exhaust, intake and tune for it. I myself don't need bigger turbo's, Throttle Body, IC, etc. because this is my daily driver and honestly I already have a 10 second mustang sitting in the garage that is so hopped up I have to run 93 octane and torco or the like, so just wanted the Edge to be a fun daily driver but a little faster than the other brands in this segment that cost more than the edge. Fun meaning if they would have given it 380 hp from the factory and 425 lb-ft I think that would have done the trick If they were to sell as many Edge ST as they did Focus ST and Fiesta ST the aftermarket would have to take notice but I think with vehicles like Mustangs / Trucks / Camaro's / Chargers ' etc. the aftermarket is going after those cars and not worrying about the ST. Could the ST Model change that for the Edge and Explorer??? I would love it. But with that said I still plan on getting a ST in the spring or mid year knowing what I know because I need a daily bigger than my escape and being a Ford guy it really is the only choice since I don't need a truck and the explorer which I do like just isn't as sporty as the Edge Sports/ST.
  17. Jimmyw86 when was the build date on your ST ?
  18. In that case road tune it is...:) I did one road data log in the Shelby... Lund Racing was the tuner and 4th gear to redline had me deep in triple digits in MPH.. had a spotter up the road a mile with my cell phone on speaker so I could hear him yell COP...LOL
  19. I would get a dyno tune if you are adding allot of extra parts to it. Doing data logs back and forth, and high speed runs on back roads work but would be allot faster and safer to have the car on rollers.
  20. I have thought the same thing about the mileage and the testing. I am guessing they took a brand new vehicle maybe with less than a hundred miles on it and was out railing on it to get those numbers. I had a 2012 Focus I got new (Not ST) and when I drove it off the lot I was thinking this thing runs good but nothing great, but after 3-4K miles on it when everything was broke in it was allot better. And when they gave the Edge ST over to testers what gas was in it? On my 14 Escape in the manual it say 240hp but has two asterisks and at the bottom of the page says something along the lines with must use high test for max power.
  21. In November our dealer had a 2018 Edge Sport loaded. Platinum white and it had the windows sticker at 45 or 46ish. I looked at it at least 5 times thinking should I get this or hold out for the ST. Each time I went to the dealer the same sales guy would greet me and I would tell him the same thing. " Just looking" on the last visit he said that someone made them an offer of 38K and they accepted it but the finance fell through for the guy so he told me if I was interested he would sell to me for 38K. Only one they had and the owner wanted it sold since 2019 models were coming in. I though long and hard on it but still wanted to wait for the ST to see what it was all about. Now I am wondering if the same will hold true, if Oct - Nov comes around and a dealer has a 2019 sitting on the lot and the 2020 is around the corner if they will slash prices even more. And my other though while all this was going on is if they have it reduced to 38K I wonder how much the car really does cost the dealership or was the salesman straight with me when he said they are telling a huge lost and just want it sold.
  22. I know about FORSCAN but I saw this and thought I wonder if the edge had something simple like this:
  23. I wonder why Ford couldn't have made a 8 speed that was amazing...is it software that makes the difference so it could be fixed or is their something just physically wrong with the Ford 8 ?
  24. Question about the autostop feature. I saw a youtube video on the F150 with auto/start/stop and there is some module you can purchase and it makes it so it stops doing that? Does such a think exist for the Edge or can a dealer turn that off?
  25. That huge IPAD looking screen doesn't seem right. If it was down lower or something but from the internet pictures it looks like they just dropped it above the radio. If you look at a 2019 Dodge Ram they have a huge screen but it fits right. Not to side track but I have been a Ford guy most my life, 8 mustangs, 2 trucks, 4 focuses, 1 Thunderbird, 1 Festiva, and 1 Fiesta but I have to give it to dodge their truck looks really nice and their SUV's are impressive when it comes to performance. If I didn't have one vehicle already that drank gas I would consider a SRT of something, but after about of month of owning I would be sick of the 15 mpg I would average Not sure how Dodge reliability is either but I am impressed with the looks and performance of dodge.
