You may be right the module is pretty rare but it does happen more than the hpfp failing. In these instances I always start with what is the cheapest to try and fix. So I think that is the way to go. Bad fuel wont give you low rail pressure it will give you bad performance but because the car would be pulling timing and boost you would have rail pressure.

More than likely its the hpfp. Also any chance he added e85 on accident? If so it cant pump enough e to get the power so you loose fuel rail pressure and this power.

My brother in law has the e30 tune for his 2.7 f-150. Been running it for about a year now. Its a big improvement he takes it to the dunes and makes about 60 passes a day. Ive been running mine in my 2.0 for the last few months and its been great . -

Sorry didnt see some have been running e30 and 100 oct. So I guess meth would be the next step. Keep those iats down. Those are some fast wagons -

Eddie if you are that close I. Columbus why not just drive up to LMS and have them dyno tune it. You are close than I am and I do that. Also to be honest Ive never gained very much from the lms tune to my lms dyno tune. They have them pretty good from the get go. I think I gained 6whp with my RS. I love only 5min from Baker engineering but for me its worth the 3 hour drive to get one of the leaders in ecoboost tuning. Id do the same for mpt or tune plus if I was that close. Just a thought. Also someone get one of these on meth or an e30 tune from livernois. I have a feeling with either you shave a full 1/2 sec off. Every time Ive done e30 or meth its shocking how much is gained on these boosts. -
If none answers by tomorrow Ill look at my moms she has a 13 2.0.
-
I got six of paying $100 for six plugs that cost me $58 now lol I have to many ecoboost and all run the same plugs and gaps so its saving my Dutch self money
-
Thats should be fast. Why not an e30 tune? Should help with that crap 91 you have. I got huge gains over a 93 tune on e30.
-
Correct you dont need it but it is reccomended. I know more people running tunes without tstat than with. I personally have them in all mine but all my friends do not. It is not needed just a prefrence. Also Ive never run into one that was hard just look it over good before you start. Very easy swap

I have read most those warnings before. I am surprised most try and tap the plug like an old school snowmobile plug. I have a threaded tool special for this that works very well that way you have no need to touch the iridium.

I know the say .032 but seems an awful lot of aftermarket tuners and shops go tighter. Ive been at .026-.028 on all mine since 2015 when livernois did my truck and went one step colder and tighter gap. Im at 160,000 and no issues. Look at it this way what are the chances you have a strap failure on a plug. Its almost none but what you could have is pre ignition or knock with to wide of gap when tuning. So I like my chances.

2013 Ford Edge SEL Eco Boost Mod Ideas
Snox801 replied to Tyler Bailey's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
I have to disagree, my 2.0 edge is just tuned and is a much more fun to drive car and much faster. Hell even my wife said how much better the car drives once tuned and asked why they wouldnt send it this way from the factory. -
Yep they seem to be less an issue of carbon on the 2.0 and the whole cost thing plays in. It may make its way over in the future but I dont see it soon. Btw the 3.5 has had the duel port for the last year.

Update on e30 tune. I headed out to CO from Michigan this week for work. Was able to run the e30 tune all the way to CO where the 91 oct started. I then found a 100 oct pump to blend with. Pricey but it worked. Tune is very stable I mixed the same ratio the whole way out. Was running at very high speeds for most of the trip. As the speed limit is 75 and traffic passes you like a snail at that speed. So it was hours of very hard running up the mountains. I was also able to really push it hard up piles peak and through some of the mountain passes. As a side not took some very cool roads while out in CO

Good to know I was starting to wonder thanks for the update.

Yep ngk iridium and yes one step cold helps with detonation. Its very common in st and RS world
-
Yes change them now. I change mine every 50,000 and notice a sizable gap change at that mileage. That being said I am pushing mine hard. So yes earlier. Second stock plugs are great in fact livernois reccomends them. I use ngk one step colder in all my ecoboosts. I went this route as they are reccomended by plenty of tuners and I can save a decent amount from my local Napa. Be sure to gap the plugs. They are supposed to be pre gapped but Ive found them to be on the large end of gap and even out of spec for the ecoboost. Gap them to.026-.028 Third just be careful when replacing and the boots are fine. Ive had no issues on my truck or cars.

No sorry I was only able to test it after the switch to30 from 93. Only drags were at the sand dunes. The diffrence o. The road was very noticeable. I honestly was not super impressed with his 93 tune as mines a 3.5 with meth and lots of other lms goodies. After the e30 I was shocked. We skipped tack day a few weeks ago because it was so hot. Last time I went when it was 90 plus and humid. People were all over how slow my truck was at a 12:68 so Im waiting for cooler day at the end of summer before I got again. Waiting to hear your results though.
-
Oh man will you be happy. Im shocked at how fast the 2.7 truck I had them do a e30 file for is.

I read that thread but what I was getting at was even with an ic you can lower temps with meth. Also Meth makes it much less an issue for an ic. Both have similar price points and installs can both be done in a day. Point was only meth = better bang for buck. I know its not for most but works well. Also Id love to check out the big turbo setup when you go to lms. I stop in every week or so to bug them about my rs build.

Also just a thought. Blow by is caused by boost and other factors creating pressures in the crankcase that is then vented through the Pcv. Which brings oil and vapor with the air back into the intake this getting on intake valves and coking. So most opt to use a catch can to collect the oil vapors and oil before it hit the intake. So one root problem is crack pressure. So Ive been running the upr oil cap breather. So the thought is that will alleviate a good amount of crank pressure. That would lead to less air moving through the pcv system theyd less oil in the intake. Keep in mind I have no proof this works but the logic is solid behind it. At 20,000 miles on my tunes and ran hard 2.0 I had only a 2-3 long streak of oil in the intake where the inlet is. So basically none. I also have not had any issue with my 2.3 after 6,800 miles. I have not checked my truck as its got lots of miles and didnt have a upr till after 100,000. Plus the meth keeps it nice and clean. So it may be worth a try for you guys. Not a end all fix but sure seems to help and was only based off the thought of pressure in the crank.

Have any of you had lms give you a e30 tune? I had them to one for my brother in laws 2.7 and it was a huge increase over the 93 tune. Not sure it would beat 100 oct but Ive never had any luck getting good power out of any octane boost compared to an e blend or ms109. Hell with these time you are getting I may trade the new 2.0 I got for a 2.7 and get a e30 tune topped with meth injection from Alky. Should be able to shave some decent time off with meth as the ic is heat soaking soon and meth would really lower those temps.
-
Have you tried new plugs yet? I see a sharp increase in fuel consumption and gap at around 30,000 on a set of plugs. I run one step colder plugs gapped to .028.
-
Throttle position can only adjusts a set amount so air density does mater more than the blend. If it didnt you would not see the substantial diffrence on the dyno from winter to summer. Ive had mine on th dyno in the middle of summer and winter. Fuel is vp so it has no winter to summer blend. Even part through you get more mpg when warm. Not saying both are not factors because of course they are. Both contribute but air temp matters more.

Did you ever do this? Also second the alky kit I have alky on my truck and RS. Its the only kit that allows you to run straight meth withou any damage to the system. Its a bit more pricey but comes with everything you need. You can run it without a tune but you will see very little if not less performance. I have a 93 tune with mine I run for towing and it still sprays meth when I hit the correct boost level. All it does is wash the valves and cools thing a bit. But if tuned it makes a monster out of your car. Adds just as much or more hp gains as the tune alone. Its also very good for the engine. I have 160,000 on my truck and Im not easy on it. No turbo seal leaks no carbon build up on valves. Nothing at all.
