Battery dies after only 15 minutes in accessory mode ?
ls973800 replied to wes8398's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Here is an excellent video about the way to test a battery. The common way of load testing and using a volt meter in this video shows the battery to be good, yet it really isn't! I have been lucky and my batteries in the Dallas heat have lasted well over 6 years in every vehicle over the last ten years! Video originally posted by WWWPerfA_ZNOW in response to another battery question. -
Why would you want to get rid of a battery if it is actually in good condition? You just need to make sure it was tested with a device which will actually show if it is good or not. The old way of testing may have resulted in false findings, saying the battery was good when it really wasn't. Check out this video posted by another member in reply on a different post. May save you some money if you don't end up throwing away a good battery.

Each one did check and say no (good on them) but here is the kicker they said they could get the tank and have it replaced in a week if I were to purchase it. Was this the salesman you spoke to who said they could have the tank replaced that quickly? How did they know if the tank had been replaced or if it wasn't leaking? Try checking with the parts manager at those stores and see if they can get one that quickly. Saying it is one thing, doing it is something else. I don't understand either why there is such a huge amount of down time for some owners waiting for a new tank. Heck, sanlynnj should contact those dealers you spoke to, order a tank from them, and have it shipped to his dealer.

What is/are BDA? Haven't seen or heard of that before. Some type of actuator?

Check with Sirius. I have heard there is a limited number of times you can transfer the "lifetime" subscription to a new radio.

Welcome! Just about every question asked, if not in fact all of them, have been discussed in many posts already. If you haven't done it yet, try the SEARCH function to find many of those posts. The mud flaps are a good example of previous posts. Tells which ones to buy and which to avoid, good places to buy them, how to install them, and has pictures. There is also a very good discussion regarding the cell phone holder options. If you have trouble and can't find the posts, come on back and I will find them for you.

Glad to hear things appear to have worked out for you! Especially since you had basically walked away from hoping to make the switch after all of the push ups they had you do. Good luck and best wishes!

If you are asking me, I have never had any lag or stumble if I accelerate hard while the car is in the coasting mode.

My 2013 Edge has ALWAYS shut off the automatic fuel pump 3 gallons short of a full tank! I have to put in the final 3 gallons very slowly, and even then the pump will click off several times. I check the dash display to see how much fuel I have used and have a very good idea of how much fuel to put in. Of course, if your tank is several gallons low to begin with, than the fuel used display will show how much you used, but not how much to completely fill the tank. Have you ever reset the MPG display back to 0 since you purchased the vehicle. If not, then you are using the MPG that the previous owner's averaged. Reset all the displays at every fill up, to give a true indication of what that tank of fuel returned in MPG's. I reset Trip A MPG every fill up, but let Trip B accumulate until I reset it at the next oil change. This gives me a true indication of what I am averaging every fill up, and also what I averaged over the past 5000 miles.

I remembered when I bought my 2013 Edge new and test drove it. I was coming out of a 2003 F150 that I drove for over 10 years. The first thing I noticed on the test drive was the "drag" when I was slowing down and wasn't touching the brake at all. It was so noticeable that I even pulled over and checked the parking brake just to make sure that wasn't partially engaged! The salesman said it was because of the car having 20" tires and that they caused the rolling resistance. I did some checking around before committing to an Edge because of that drag, and found it to be normal, and for the reasons stated in previous posts. I purchased that Edge I test drove and after a few months got used to the way it drove. I now have 40000 miles on that car and don't even notice it.

radio buttons worn off
ls973800 replied to Jackie Duke's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Contact this seller to see if he has a kit for the Edge. Very common problem on GM vehicles, but I haven't heard of too many on Fords. Someone on the Ford Freestyle forum contacted them and got a kit for their vehicle. He was happy with the results. http://controlbuttonrenu.com/ Here is a video of how those stick on labels look with a little bit of patience. -
Looking for roof rails
ls973800 replied to lawnpromike's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Check the Welcome forum posts at the top of the topic lists. There is a new owner wanting to trade his roof rails for just the strips. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17181-hi-from-englewood-fl/?do=findComment&comment=123584 -
Thank you for the clarification between the two different versions. I have the second version but for the life of me could not remember what I did with the factory connectors. It's an early sign of CRS at my age. Can't Remember Sh*t

Sorry for the inaccurate reply I posted that you may have to add the wire harness. I was thinking of just the factory light strip being added, not the aftermarket DRL's. I installed the DRL's and removed my factory lights. Someone was interested in buying them, but didn't have the wire harness in his vehicle to hook them up to. That is why he would have had to purchase or make the wire harness which is actually a pair of connectors with wires. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-2014-Ford-Edge-front-bumper-lights-pigtail-electrical-connectors/201046929674?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3D01b0d4f3533741b796b6489e2813ecb8%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D200907990465 These are the connectors I was thinking would have to be added if the vehicle didn't have the wire harness from the factory. So Dan's kit does include them? I don't remember not plugging my factory connectors back in when I added the DRL's. Maybe I did and just didn't use the ones that come with Dan's kit? I checked his install video but didn't even see factory connectors being removed when the original lights are taken out.

Unless the wire harness isn't there. Then you would also have to add that. You can find the harness on eBay or other sources.

Remote start & customize heated seat turn on
ls973800 replied to drpepper's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Just thinking out loud here. If the outside temperature sensor on the Edge is like the ones on a GM, it uses electrical resistance (OHMS) to convert into a degree reading on the dash board. So if for instance the sensor reads 4000 ohms at 35 degrees, but 5000 ohms at 30 degrees, I wonder if you could some how trick it. Perhaps adding a 1000 ohm resister into the system so that it is always reading more ohms even when it should be reading less? That way at 35 it would think it was 30 and would turn on the heated seats, etc. I don't know if I explained it well enough to give you the general idea, but I know what I mean. -
So you have seen this tank and the seller wasn't correct with his description of it being in good shape? He was being dishonest when he said this one doesn't leak? How have other owner's managed to buy used tanks from salvage yards and have no problems? Perhaps the tank came from a Southern state or a rust free car. Considering the shortage of tanks and the cost of them, I thought someone who might need one and was in the area might get a good deal. Of course I would think they would look it over and maybe even fill it with water to check it out.

If anyone is in the Cleveland, Ohio area I see there is a 2007 fuel tank on sale for $200.00. I am not, nor do I know the seller. If interested, check the Cleveland, Ohio Craigslist listings under auto parts for sale, and search "Ford Edge" Here is a link to the ad https://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/4819836782.html Perhaps this will help someone looking for one of these tanks who can't get it taken care of under warranty.

A somewhat "common" or known problem on those early models. Here is a topic which has the TSB listed saying what is (was) covered and under what circumstances. You would have to check with a Ford dealership to see if there is any warranty remaining for this condition for your particular vehicle. Glad to hear the dealership has acknowledged that if a computer problem (BCM) it would be covered. I believe the BCM is covered under the 8/80000 emissions warranty. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7670-bad-pcms-tsb/?hl=%2Bcoils+%2Bmelted Search "coils melted" to see other posts about the problem.

2015 Order Guide: Update 4/2
ls973800 replied to Magnetic Edge's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Pulling out in front of may result in nothing, but pulling out to pass when it is oncoming may result in something worse. As for the 2008 study you refer to, here is another look at some of the findings. Note the different vehicles which benefit from having DRL's http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/crash-avoidance-technologies/qanda#daytime-running-lights Federal researchers, using data collected nationwide from 1995 to 2001, concluded that there was a 5 percent decline in daytime, two-vehicle, opposite-direction crashes. 3 However, a 2008 federal study concluded that DRLs reduce crash involvements of pickups, SUVs, and vans, but have no significant effect on crashes of passenger cars. 4 I would put the Edge in the SUV category rather than a passenger car category. Wonder how many more SUV, pickups, and vans are on the road now than in 2008. I would say more for sure. -
2015 Order Guide: Update 4/2
ls973800 replied to Magnetic Edge's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Really? You have never been in a situation where because of sun glare, mist, fog, rain, snow, etc you couldn't see a car hundreds of yards away? Or, I'll admit it, there have been times I may have glanced instead of really looked, when pulling out of an intersection, parking lot, ect. Or just not paying attention to my surroundings because of other distractions. If you have never experienced not seeing another car because you are such an expert driver, then KUDOS to you. Not all cars have automatic headlights that would turn on in those situations, and not all cars have the safety feature of DRL's being installed, enabled, or even available. Yes, I definitely consider DRL's a safety feature! A car traveling at 60 MPH moves 29.3 yards in one second. That's 293.0 yards in ten seconds. Or 146.5 yards in 5 seconds. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure would like to have the advantage of those cars at least having DRL's, even if it's just to give me an advantage of seeing them sooner or better. I don't see how anyone could think seeing a car hundreds of yards away sooner or easier would not be considered a safety feature. Oh well, I guess that's why we are all individuals and can think differently. Me, I stick with my thoughts that it is a safety feature. Otherwise why are there even DRL's? I also want to note that I added the DRL's that are sold by a fellow member on this forum because I believe they give an additional advantage of my being seen in certain conditions. Regardless of it being weather conditions, environmental conditions, driver inattention, etc. -
Installation of Ford Hitch on 2014 Edge
ls973800 replied to Gasman's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
My 2013 Edge Limited has the factory ordered towing package. The hitch sits within the bottom black trim piece which is under the rear bumper. There is a cutout in the trim piece, but you would have to get down on your hands and knees to see it. If it were to hang completely below the trim piece, I would think it would be too low. Standing above the rear and looking down, you can't even see the cutout. -
If you are handy or a DIY type person, do a search on the forum and see how to replace it yourself. There are many posts which also suggest a way of trying to clean the mechanism by using different sprays.

Thanks for the follow up and hope you enjoy the Edge.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.
