  1. I just checked mine on my 2009 FWD SEL. I have ⅜ inch of original factory pad left at 112,356 on the odometer. Rotors are smooth with no ridges. I have never had any brake dust on the wheels. I check the pads and rotors at every tire rotation (DIY), usually 3000 to 4000 miles. Possibly brake issues may be attributed to driving style.
  2. You do not have to cut the clamps, just work the muffler box out of the holes and plug them with the appropriately sized PVC plugs. This is how I did it.
  3. Some people will blame an inanimate object when addressing fuel economy when the real culprit is the right foot.
  4. Your fuel economy is in your right foot. Hint, foot OFF the gas and coast when possible.
  5. I have a 09 Edge SEL. I did an oil change today and while I had it up I pulled the RF wheel to check the brake on that wheel. I have about ⅜" of pad left and the rotor is smooth with no ridges. I have 108,260 miles on it and have never touched the brakes. I periodically check all the brakes when I rotate tires.
  6. If your brake fluid is low and there are no leaks, check the brake pads. They may be close to needing to be replaced. If you replace the pads the fluid will be back to normal.
  7. A TPS saved a tire for me. I was driving to work one morning and the TPS came on. Car steered and drove normally so I checked it when I got in the parking lot at work. The RF tire was warmer than the other tires. Pressure on that one was about 22 PSI. Got the trusty 12 volt compressor out and pumped it up. About 3 weeks later same thing happened at the same location on the way to work. same tire was down to about 22 PSI. Pumped it up and went to a tire shop which submerged the wheel and found bubbles. A fine wire was the cause. Tire was repaired and all is fine since. TPS saved me the price of a new tire or two.
  8. Problem solved. I did what is called a hard reset. I disconnected the battery for about an hour and a half. Connected it again and radio performs flawlessly.
  9. I changed the air filter the other day and did not get the MAF connector plugged in tight. Car bucked and a CEL came on. Code was for the MAF, plugged it in tight and reset the CEL code. Every thing (engine wise) is fine. Today tried the SIRIUS radio, the stations illuminate on the radio but no sound. One AM preset works, has sound but not real clear. Two other AM presets have static. Checked all fuses and all are good. The CD player has sound. Need help diagnosing the problem. 2009 Edge SEL

  11. I had a 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition that had the rear panel opening feature. I really liked it. Maybe you could find the hardware in a salvage yard.

    Catch Can

Has anyone installed a Catch Can in the PCV line to the throttle body?
  13. Thanks for the information. I didn't know it was so sophisticated. Thanks for the information.
  14. I have been using AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-20 in my 2009 SEL for the last 100k and have not had any issues.
  15. What is the front to rear brake bias?
  16. I put Monroe Sensa Trac on mine from Rock Auto $30.79 each.
  17. Worked for me. :hyper: There are 4 attachment points between the bumper and the attachment bracket. The attachment bracket is a brittle plastic and easily broken. I've had my bumper cover off a couple times for various reasons. The top attachment point of the bracket on both sides is broken and the bumper cover protrudes a little. I gently opened the gap enough to get clear RTV behind the cover, then duck taped it down for a couple hours to let the RTV set up. A body shop price is $35 x 2 for the brackets + labor to remove and install the bumper cover. A dealership would charge much more and have to keep the car for a while.
  18. I have a 2009 SEL with 103000 on the odometer. The original pads, still on, have at least 3/8 inches of pad remaining. I check them every time I rotate tires.
  19. I have Perelli Scorpion Verde's on for about 12K now and love them. To a certain extent I think "tire noise" is a function of the road surface. There are some roads with a coarse surface that will make any tire noisy. Drive the same tire on a road that has been ground smooth or a new asphalt and it will be very quiet. At least that is my experience with the Perelli Scorpion Verde's.
  20. 2009 SEL with 100K+ miles. Bypass oil filtration, engine oil cooler and a class III hitch, although I do not tow anything. It provides a deterrent to tailgaters. Lots of trips across south west deserts in the summer with 100+ temps. Vehicle is performing perfectly. I DIY when I can.
  21. Most new tires will be quiet. Road noise is an affect of the road surface more than the tire. I have Perelli Scorpion Verdr's on my 2009 and love them, however on certain old road surfaces they are noisy. Concrete that has been ground to remove joint heaves is very quiet as is new asphalt that is smooth. Compare your prospecetive tires on Tire Rack.
  22. I had the same problem with Michelin and Rain-X blades on the drivers side. The Bosch Marathon blade locks in place nicely. All of the blades locked on the passenger side. Don
  23. I cut some short nap carpet and put it in the holes, used the original rubber ones for a pattern. It quiets my stainless steel cups and will absorb a small amount of liquid. :hyper:
