  1. I just put some on my 09 Sel, 245-60-18. So far I like them but don't have a trip on em yet.
  2. I put the SCION bumper guard on my 2009 Edge a couple years ago. It is doing a good job of faithfully protecting the painted surfaces over which it resides and I think that it looks GOOD.
  3. Ceramic pads will be just fine with the OEM rotors. If you have any groves or ridges on the rotors get them turned before installing the new pads. You will notice that there will be a great decrease in the brake dust on the wheels with the ceramic pads. I think that my 2009 edge came with ceramic pads because I have never had a brake dust issue. I checked my front pads yesterday and still have >3/8 inch left after 84, 000 miles with original pads.
  4. IF you do a search you may find that a SCION XB or some thing like that, rear protector will protect better than the Ford one, over the lip. This is an old issue that was answered years ago. I got a perfect fit from Street Side Auto.
  5. Looking at from the top down will not work very well when trying to identify an oil leak since gravity still works. Put it on a lift or jack it up and use jack stands and look with a good light for drips or track stains. I found a track stain a couple years ago on my 2009 and had an axle seal replaced under warranty.
  6. I have a Stampede hood protector from Street Side Auto. Easy install with screws from under the hood. It has saved many rock chips on the leading edge of the hood and windshield. It also keeps many bugs off the windshield. IF I take it off there will be no chips on the hood. Nuff said!
  7. I rotate my tires every 4000 and inspect the brake pads when I have the wheels off. I have 80K+ on my 09 and am on the second set of tires and the original brake pads. The pads have about 3/8 inch remaining. Maybe its my driving style. Also never have seen any brake dust on the wheels. :hyper:
  8. I got some Monroe Reflex shocks for the rear from Rock Auto. Easy to change and am HAPPY with them. :hyper:
  9. I could be wrong but, I don't think there are any of what we old timers consider grease zirks on an Edge.
  10. I have been using the passenger side headrest (tan or stone) to park a cap. I must have had the cap on for a while and I may have been damp. It left a stain on the headrest. I have used a leather cleaner to no avail. I l;think the headrest is vinyl. Any help will be welcome
  11. I use a bungie cord, of the appropriate length, and put it through the bag handles to keep the stuff from moving around when going home from the grocery store. Attach the ends of the bungie cord to the attachment points intended for the cargo net. Cheap and effective.
  12. Put rear hatch up. You should see a black part of the tail light assembly with 2 screws. Remove the screws and pull the tail light assembly out providing access to the bulb sockets. Replace the burned out bulb.
  13. Get a carpet remnant, berber carpet works for me and the hook part of velcro attaches and prevents slipping and sliding.
  14. I made a bracket that attaches under the drivers side headliner using the center side visor mount screw. Couldn't get the suction cups to stick to the black rough part of the windshield. The detector wire is routed down the A pillar to a switched connection in the fuse box.
  15. About the only thing different is that they charge more $$$.
  16. Just a thought. There is a thing in the engineering world called Boyles Gas Law. In short this law of physics addresses pressure change with an accompanying change in temperature. As temperature increases so does pressure due to the expansion of a gas (air) with temperature. This is why, if a vessel (tire) is filled with air at 32 degrees F and the ambient temperature increases to 64 degrees F the tire pressure will also increase. When a tire rolls, friction is created in the tire due to internal friction in the tire and friction with the road. Friction causes heat, i.e. temperature increase. If you want to minimize the pressure increase due to temperature fill your tires with nitrogen. There is a max pressure on the tire sidewall that does not account for temperature, it is the MAX pressure. Something to think about
  17. Doing a spark plug change is NOT rocket science. I did mine on an 09 SEL last month, took my time and finished in about 2 hours. I have a theory about Service Depts. at dealers. Once you visit, YOU WILL be BACK for something else. I have 71K on my Edge now. The last time it was at a dealer was for a Sirius radio replacement in Jan of 2010 and haven't been back since. My Rule #1 Don't pay someone else to do something you can do yourself.
  18. If you look up Boyles Gas Law you will find that gas (air) will expand with a corresponding temperature increase. A temperature decrease will cause a pressure decrease. This is why tire pressures should be taken cold. When a tire rotates on the road the internal tire friction, and friction with the road will cause the tire to heat up and the tire pressure to increase. If you put nitrogen in your tires, temperature will not affect the tire pressure as much, if any.
  19. I have been using AMSOIL in my vehicles for more than 10 years and probably close to 500K miles.. The oil cooler was previously installed on a 1999 Expedition along with a bypass filtration system, prior to that the cooler was on a 93 MK8. When I traded the Expedition I removed the bypass system and the oil cooler. I installed the bypass system on the Edge, but couldn't easily locate a place for the oil cooler so I left it off, until today. I went to a friends body shop and we took the whole nose off and I installed the cooler in front of the lower part of the AC condenser/radiator where it will not impact air flow. The 2009 Edge has 70K+ on it as we speak. In 2009 I clocked 12,500+ miles from June to December, in 2010 it was 25,500+ and in 2011 it was 24500+. I travel border to border and coast to coast and don't trust the quick lube places to work or even change oil on my vehicles due to a bad experience some time ago. I'll be changing the transmission fluid later this week.
  20. Railroad Thanks for the reply I use AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-20, a full synthetic guaranteed for 1 year or 25,000 miles. This oil had a little less than 15,000 on it and 6 months. To accumulate this many miles in 6 months there was not very much idling or short runs. I have never towed anything with this vehicle. I'm going to install a cooler today and will see what the next analysis indicates. I just talked with an AMSOIL tech rep and Oil Analyzers and both indicated that heat is a major contributor to oxidation. They also indicated that this could be an inherent characteristic of the Ford 3.5 L engine.
  21. Hey Dingo, Thank You very much.
  22. Sorry Dingo I was looking for discussion on the last line of the post. I posted on 2 other forms and didn't get any response.
  23. Thanks for all your help. I'm overwhelmed with the response.
