  1. I installed the WeatherTechs on two Explorers and a Volvo XC70; good product. I didn't install them on my Edge because I just didn't want to spend the money.
  2. Ok, here's an asnwer to one of your questions; re: center console tray - http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6860-2011-edge-center-console-tray-gone/page__p__56848__hl__%2Bconsole+%2Bcover__fromsearch__1#entry56848 I used a piece of plastic cutting board. The rear cargo cover's a love hate relationship with some of us. I like the cover actually hides cargo. I owned two Explorers and a Volvo XC70 which all featured a real roll up cargo cover and I'm wondering , what were you guys thinking? I know the rear seat tilt, etc, but still a bad design.
  3. I entered an intersection close to my home for my home address. I'd read somewhere it's a good idea just in case the wrong "people" steal your car then decide to go home. Sure sounds like your address isnt' in the database OR you entered the wrong twon or state. Try entering the state then the city just in case the database used a different spelling. Please don't ask how I know
  4. Paul. Congrats and have fun learning the new system I'm in Lowell, what about you? Rich
  5. I just read a thread on the Ford Explorer forum which mentioned you cna download a tutorial showing screenshots of the new MFT. You'll need an iPhone or iPad. http://itunes.apple.com/app/mft-guide/id501961889?mt=8 Note, click on a function then the ? near the time. Samantha (I read Ford engineering named her Samantha) or the Sync lady appears providing details.
  6. Guys, Let's set the record straight; Microsoft DID NOT write the app called My Ford Touch or MFT. A company called BSquare and Ford wrte the MFT app. Microsoft wrote the OS. MFT runs on top of the OS. I do understand based upon conversations on this site Microsoft's helping do the rewrite. You can search the site for more detailed info because we discussed ad nauseum last fal, summer, spring and previous winter. I do not work for MIcrosoft, but anoither big software company.
  7. thanks for the update. Kudos on your attention to detail in every one of your posts. I understand the software development route; I do both software support and write diagnostics for an enterprise app. Fun trying to keep up with the app server changes and functionality plus changes in the web world
  8. Nice, clean job. I like hearing the new racks are quiet. I thought about replacing mine with the new aerobars, but the price scared me. I'll stick with my square bars and feet. Question, what's the roof material under the track assembly, metal coated with a plastic? I installed a Thule Slipstream on top of my racks. I moved the towers out to 34 inches because I carry either an 18 foot or 18 foot 3 inch kayak. I wanted the tie down strap in front and behind the cockpit combing. Also, tiedwon's closer to the internal bulkhead. I tie the stern down to a trailer hithc and the bow to a strap placed under the hood. BTW, do you work or just make mods to your car? Also, jealous you're even thinking about heading to the water. I may head out in a week or so if the temps stya in the 40's. I'll need to bundle up in fleece and a drysuit.
  9. Hopefully, future versions of MFT allow us to add our own POIs, etc. No way in the current system. I still use a Garmin too on long trips so I can use update to date POIs, etc. Finally, I too wonder when using MFT Nav what's Ford and when Sirius takes over.
  10. Strange! If my Wfi's on pairing for me fails too.
  11. Nope, never seen the contact photos. No big deal for me. I've owned and paired Blackberry Curve, Dorid X and now the iPhone 4s with my system. The phone with the least problems, iPhone 4s. BB, a nightmare to sync with MFT. However, the BB sounded the best with MFT; very clear sound. The Droid X, so so and the iPhone not bad.
  12. IMO, they depict no traffic problems on the road and traffic's moving at normal speed. I see the same images on my Nav when driving hgihways. I do see them change to red or yellow depending upon slow or stopped traffic.
  13. Great, I'll copy the new version to my USB this week. Thanks, Wilson
  14. Best and easy method, follow Wilson's link to delayed boot. Saved me aggravation a couple of times. Lately my car rebooted on it's own. However, once you've rebooted the system take the USB drive to a PC, delete it's contents then unzip the zip file. Next, place the USB in your car's center console for the next time. When you do a reboot with the USB drive one of the script files on the drive's renamed by the delayed reboot process. If you forget to reloaded a fresh zip file you can't run the reboot again. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the single file you could just delete. I think it's the file changed from a .lst to .old or something similar. The USB's outside awaiting it's next reboot.
  15. Please, some details re: your new antenna. thanks
  16. Lots of good items on the list. My want and wish; a real roof rack which works with the BAMR. I carry kayaks and others transport roof boxes with BAMR roofs. Yes, you can add aftermarket racks (I did), but you don't get the spread between the crossbars like a true roof rack system. I want my 18feet of fiberglass stabile on the roof.
  17. I'm looking forward to the update. BTW, my 2.11 update took about 40 minutes. No idea why some took longer.
  18. Besides added convenience of a built in Nav system and it's always with you less worry about thieves breaking in and stealing your portable GPS. They won't see rings on the windhield nor dash mounts for a GPS. BTW, some trips I do run both the MFT Nav system and a Garmin Vocie activated GPS. The downside, sometimes when Samanatha (MFT states, say a command, the Garmin chimes in asking for a command. Yes, very entertaining on a long, boring trip.
  19. I used mine sync mine without any problems. I don't see Contact photos, but no big deall. My ringtone plays thru MFT; surprised me because the tones never played with my BB or Droid.
  20. First, congrats on the new car smell. Second, remote start only starts the car's engine. When you push the start button in the car MFT and the dash bootup. I'm wondering if extending the engine run time may keep your engine running? See page 132 the Edge Owners manual or PDF.
  21. I've installed Invisible Bra on one of kayaks just for practice. My biggest problem, preventing bubbles from appearing in the material. I found you need to keep the material moist otherwise you can't slide the plastic. Also, on my previous car, a Volvo, the dealer install a 3M Invisible bra. The material definitely protected the hood. My Edge, I went with a Lund hood protector which works well too. My big problem, the number of stones hitting the car's windshield. I don't recall ever getting hit so many times by small stones. If you decide to install the Husky, take your time and bring along your patience.
  22. I installed the Husky liners in the spring just after they hit the market. They work very well and no trimming. No need to remove the two floor posts.
  23. No details re: how to install. However, great idea and definitely better than the current security shade.

    IPOD

I use an 80 G Classic and 64 G Touch. The Touch takes forever to index while the Classic I'm up and running.
  25. ICons? I've never seen them except in the manual. I remember the first time I saw the yellow "i" representing Travel Link. I wondered why? Yellow if memory serves me correctly means an alert's turned on. I believe the yellow i means you didn't enable 911 calling. You can check under the Menus. Remember, I'm going by a foggy memory and last saw the yellow i almost a year ago.
