davidceder Posted January 5, 2016 Report Share Posted January 5, 2016 Has anyone gotten the wheel locking lug nuts (65L) on the Sport Edge with 21 inch wheels? Wondering how they look, are the chrome or dark, etc, etc. Placing the order for my Sport today and was trying to decide if I should order or maybe wait and see what i can get after market. Tacyon Posted January 8, 2016 Report Share Posted January 8, 2016 you realize that locking lugs are minor deterrent/delay and NOT a prevention, correct? In fact, this JUST happened to me. Had to get two new tires installed due to tread ware. Fast forward 3 months and I needed to do the rear breaks. I get all my parts and tool together and son-of-bi*ch. Everyone can make mistakes. If you do, it really becomes a mistake if someone else sees or gets its benefits. Seems as if the mechanic who'd replaced my tires neglected return the lug key. Now after several calls and some pushing they made it right and I drive 20 minutes to the nearest location. They hammered the "universal key" in place and removed the locks. The real "good thing" of this story is that it didn't happen at 8:30pm on the highway halfway into Chicago. That would be tow charges, missed dinner date, major aggravation. Just because one person made a easy screw up and I had custom locked lugs that slowed the mechanic down ... wait it didn't slow him down at all. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They didn't order them and because of their mistake they didn't bill me for them. They told me they were free initially. I bought on eBay part #EK4J-1A043-AA, which is an interchange part for the part GR3Z-1A043-A, which ford lists on the official parts site. These did not fit, as they stuck out like a sore thumb. Not familiar with McGard necessarily but I just purchased/installed the following on my '16 Edge Sport - The System from Gorilla (71643N Acorn 14mm x 1.50, 5 lug) for about $50 from Amazon. Bobs2015EdgeSport Posted June 22, 2016 Report Share Posted June 22, 2016 I used a set of McGard # 24216 (M14 x 1.5) Cone Wheel Locking Nuts, in Black, to match my 20" black rims on my 2015 Edge Sport, along with a set of black lugnuts. Here is a picture; you can clearly see the locking lugnut in place. These lugnuts should also fit the 2016 models. Bobs2015EdgeSport Posted June 24, 2016 Report Share Posted June 24, 2016 I just clicked on the link to the Gorilla System set that "Always on Edge" posted above, for the set that he said he installed on his 2016 Sport without any problems... and, ironically, their "fitment" system says that the part number he is using is somehow "not compatible" with his vehicle! LOL! Like the similar fitment feature used on eBay, the one on Amazon clearly doesn't work well either... which is why I don't use that feature on either of the sites! Thanks for the posting, "Always on Edge", as I am now going to ignore Amazon's useless "fitment" feature, and order the same set for my car as well! Then, more out of curiousity than anything else, I tried putting in "2016" (his model year), and it said that the lug nuts he was already using would not fit his model! I read somewhere on the internet (so it must be true) that the Edge shares the same wheel studs as the Fusion of which the M14 x 1.5 fit. Bobs2015EdgeSport Posted June 28, 2016 Report Share Posted June 28, 2016 I was able to get a set of 20 black Gorilla locking lug nuts (Their part # 71643NBC) that fit my 2015 Sport perfectly. They are definitely M14 x 1.5. IF I did have to say anything "bad" about them, it is that the black finish (what they called a "black chrome") is a lot duller than the black painted ones that they replaced. That is, since my alloy rims are black powdercoated, the new Gorilla lug nuts now look a little duller than the rims do... but I can live with that, in exchange for better anti-theft security! You're welcome! I recommend you purchase a second lug key (only $15) with the code that was in the box. Inevitably the dealership or tire shop will accidentally keep your lug key and/or you may misplace it yourself. I'd also recommend not keeping either one in the vehicle if you're just driving around town, you'll just be helping the wheel thieves should they break a window and rummage through your truck looking for it. Heard you can buy a 2-pack of sockets at Pep Boys for $25 that can pop most locking wheel bolts. One or two good smacks with a BFH on any locking lug nut and an electric impact and your rims are mine. All I did to get it off was take a socket that was slightly smaller that the locking Nut and I hammered on to the locking about 1/8 an inch hitting the socket with a hammer until it deformed the lug nut it is a very soft steel and sockets are heat treated.
